Thanks for asking. Up to 11 months after the paint job i inspected it and it held up amazingly well. But then i was told the boat was sold recently the new owner left it in the water. So obviously it will fail because it was not meant to stay in the water. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for your kind words. K.Y.M is all about sharing information. As explained in the video Alexseal Paint is not a below waterline Paint. It's an above waterline paint. Because this boat stayed in a lift above the water the owner decided the use alexseal topcoat on the bottom. And it did work. I did regularly inspections while the boat was in its lift for 11 months after the paint job and the paint job held up amazingly well. But since the change of owners the boat was left in the water and obviously the results will be different. Sadly the owner (Jay ) who worked with me in that video, recently passed away. May his soul rest in peace.

Thanks for your comment. I will do a video specifically on blending. But the clear mix is a mixture of a mixture of clear base Awlgrip. And a mixture of the pigmented base . And ofcourse there is a trick in doing the blend to give a very thin or invisible seam. Subscribe so You will see Any upcoming videos

Awlgrip paint already has clear in it. Yes you can add additional clear. But it does cost more

I only made the video for the final coat, but i did some repairs, then two coats of primer and 3 coats of topcoat. Sand with 400 grit sandpaper between coats. The blend was 50% pigmented paint and 50% clear mix. Please subscribe and watch my other videos

@@kennysyachtmaintenance Thanks Kenny. What do you mean by clear? Is that the Awlgrip Converter or Reducer? or are you using the usual pigmented paint with converter, but thinned down to 50% with the reducer? Also once you remove the masking tape do you need to compound polish or sand to finish the blend?

You may be right. We intended to use it but forgot to add it

I used it on a project I had going on it doesn’t leave a normal awlgrip gloss to it and I use it as intended. The orange peel it leaves behind us a lot worse than rolling and tipping. I prefer to roll and tip as it leaves a glossy smooth finish. I don’t recommend it just not for awlgrip. My finish with roll and tips was alot better than adding the additive just rolling and rolling at tipping my experience tho. Maybe it will be better to others who can’t get a good roll and tip finish.

Thanks for that question, I had to do a slight modification to the wagna nozzel in order to spray the nonskid particles. Just use the tip of a solder gun and slightly open up the tip. Go through my videos I did a video on that. I'll try to send you the link.

If it's a hard finish surface it should work. Sand it with 320 grit sandpaper. Then wipe down the surface with mineral spirits. Use a clean rag. Then apply the varnish. Please subscribe and watch my other videos

Also Total boat lust varnish comes in high gloss and also satin or Matt finish. If you want a flat non shine finish you should use the satin. If you like gloss then use gloss.
