    Always thought it was interesting how if one wants a glance at the unfettered desires of women, is to look at romance novels / smut. They're mostly written by women for women, majority of the consumers are women as well. Typically the archetype of the MMC is as you say: big eggplant, white, very tall, dark features, model looks, rich/wealthy and or werewolf / vampire lol

    • @janellethesexeducator
      @janellethesexeducator 2 місяці тому

      You're absolutely right about it mostly being written by women for women. Romance literature is truly unique as it's the only space within culture/society that centers on women's stories, pleasure, joy, etc. And it gives a very insightful look into a point of view not often highlighted. What you're saying about archetypes is very interesting. Again, I think you are right that this is the most common MMC. But I do wonder how much of this is a reflection of what women actually want in real life vs. a reflection on whose stories are getting greenlit.

    5:25 What I always found so interesting about romance is the deeper dive into the characters. It seems to me that romance is much more concerned than other genres with the emotional part and the depth of characters, from the construction of the characters (their personnality, their background and the emotional impact it has on them, their dreams, their fears, their misbeliefs, etc.) to how the characters feel and interact with each other. Sure, psychological thrillers and other genres (any good book, really) also explore human nature and psychology, but it always seemed to me like romance was the genre where the characters are the more relatable (in a personal level "this character is similar to me" or "this character made me realise things about me", or in a "this character makes me understand some people around me better" way)

    • @Eyleenelly
      @Eyleenelly 2 місяці тому

      Oh, and of course, one of the major points that makes romance so enjoyable is that a book, to be qualified as a romance, not only needs to have a romantic relationship at the heart of it and the main plot, but it also needs to have a happy ending ! So yes, the positivity and uplifting quality or romance is part of what makes it so amazing ✨️

    It's normal to not feel pleasure because whether women like it or not y'all were never supposed to feel sexual pleasure in the first place. Remember sex is used to conceive children and last time I checked a woman doesn't need to orgasm in order to get pregnant but a man does to get her pregnant. I know this is an unpopular opinion but this is exactly why women have such a hard time orgasming because it goes against the nature of what sex was meant to be used for.
