@MyUA-camAccount17 What3Words is slowly creeping in, it seems. None in the catalogue yet, but I've had a few now in word of mouth clues. One involved cryptic clues to solve the 3 words, which brought a fresh and welcome challenge.

If you look in the front of the catalogue in the preface you'll find the email address. Don't buy a stamp! Hand carve or design one if you can, or get your kids to. It'll be far more personal :) There are email addresses to stampmakers who can make your design for a small cost in the same catalogue email update. Good luck!

That's great! It was George's video that spurred me on to finish this project. As for intro walks, I wouldn't be surprised if they've been put on before, but none currently to my knowledge. Maybe somebody should change that. Try casting your line in one of the 2 Facebook groups (search Dartmoor Letterboxing). It's a really friendly community and you wouldn't be short of offers.

@@Letterboxing.RatBoy It started taking off in America after the Smithsonian magazine published an article about the Dartmoor boxes in 1998. You can learn more about it from our own little gathering when Wassamatta_u described the History of Letterboxing in detail at ua-cam.com/video/PMmb1S_X_t0/v-deo.htmlsi=tsXH3S4aBMiB7DpB -- including when it jumped over the pond. I'll admit, there may be a few inaccuracies, but most of them are pretty obvious. ;o)

Thanks for the interest. Can't take much credit for keeping it alive, that goes to those who put in a ton of time and effort so that others can enjoy themselves, and those maintaining the catalogue. What was it like in the 90s? You're right about the rubber cuts being the prize of any collection.

@@Letterboxing.RatBoy I can’t remember exactly how I found out about Letterboxing. I think it was from a local interest book in the bookshop - 101 Dartmoor Letterboxes (but not how to find them) - (I think that was what it was called!). I definitely never saw a catalogue. As I cycled round Dartmoor sketching, I got used to spotting the signs of a box location and found them quite regularly. Being an artist, I got very into the idea of creating my own personal stamps to print into the log books and made lots of different ones. I have lots of great memories of those days and have been planning on making a letterboxing-themed video for a while now. My son has got into Geocaching over the last couple of years and has made a trail of different locally-themed geocaches, including (influenced by my happy memories of letterboxing) homemade rubber stamps!

I'm sure the letterboxing community would be very glad to see it, myself included!
