Appreciate you! 😎
Excellent video! Just setting up my Mira 9 and found this very helpful. Keep the instructional videos coming.
Super glad it was helpful for you! Thanks for watching!
fonts link please
Hello! I listed the names of the fonts in the description so you're able to look them up on your favorite font site, as they're available on multiple. Hope that helps!
You DID NOT TEACH ME HOW TO SEND TO LASER
Hello! I review my process of sending the file to the laser beginning at the 10:20 mark. I do it differently than some others do. 😎
******* ( IF YOU MAKE YOUR POINTER LARGER OTHERS MIGHT SEE IT! )
Hello again! My teaching style isn't for everyone, I understand that. I hope you find someone that is a better fit for what you're looking for! 🫶🏻
so helpful! thank u
Thanks for watching! 🫶🏻
Hello Heather ! thank you so much for this very informative video. After I expand vectorisation, the image has a white background and not a transparent background. Hence when I try to put two layers together (both of which I did up to the expand vectorisation stage), I can’t see both as they have white background. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks so much for your time!!
Hello! After the Image Trace step, use the Magic Wand tool (Y on your keyboard) and click anywhere in that white area to select the blank space. Once it's selected, hit Delete on your keyboard. You can also hit Expand in the Image Trace panel and check the option/box that says "Ignore White" and that will automatically delete the white area during the tracing step. If you're still having issues, please send me an email and I can help walk you through it! HeatherLynn@LoBoDesigns.com
So much fun😂
You're such an awesome teacher, I love how you simplify everything! Thank you so much!! Blessings!!!
I really missed your awesome feedback, Joe! Appreciate you, buddy! 🫶🏻
Another great video! Thanks for the helpful info.
Thanks for watching! 🫶🏻
¿Qué material usas? Necesito mayor información.
Estas son tazas de acero para beber, grabadas en mi láser.
🎉
Very good techniques!
Appreciate you! 🫶🏻
Dooring or was that Doareeng?
Was that meant to be an insult? Do you need a hug? 🥰
Great projects. ❤
Thank you, love!
Finally someone who can explain clearly and fully how this works without distracting special effects and music. Thank you so much!!! I'm going to check your other videos now
Thanks so much for watching and for the awesome feedback! 🫶🏻
Hey Heather! Haven't seen you in a while. Somehow you fell off of my favorites list. Hope you and your family are well! Blessings!!!
JOE!!!! I've missed you!!! Hope all is well, buddy!
This is awesome! So glad I found your channel. I have a question, I want to divide my text/word into three portions so I can cut it on my glowforge aura. Is this possible on the ipad? I am fairly new and have not been able to find a way to do this. Can you help with this?
Thanks for watching! I'm actually not sure since I mostly use the Desktop version of AI, but I'll check it out for ya this week and confirm for you! If it's possible I'll create a tutorial for it. 🫶🏻
So usefull, thank you! Definitly trying this 😊
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
Wow! Can the same technique be used on painted/stained wood or acrylic?
Absolutely! Just be very careful with making sure the BACK side of your jig isn't dirty or have any char that might rub off on unsealed paints or chalk paints.
Thank you for sharing, this by far has been the best tutorial I have watched and learned a great deal on. Thank you for saving me hours of headaches! Awesome Info
Yayy! Super happy it was helpful for you! Thanks for watching. 🫶🏻
Don't you ever loose some of those tiny pieces? I hate loosing the dots on the i! Any tip for that? 😊
Losing the little pieces is THEEEE worst! 🤣 I normally cut extras of those littles so I have more to lose lol.
@@LoBoDesigns i do the same 😅 but i want to figure out other solutions, maybe something to put bellow the acrylic (as i usually raise mine). I'll keep thinking about it! Love your content btw, thanks you 🥰
You were reading my mind! I want to make some stakes for birth month plants we bought my mom for Mothers Day to identify which grandkid each plant corresponds to and knew that it wouldn’t be as easy as typing out text!
Yayy! Mind-reading skills in tact! 🤣🔮🎉
Ohh I didn’t know you can just copy and paste into LB. That’s awesome. So the letters are not automatically welded to eachother? IDK why I have such a hard time wrapping my head around what a stroke it. I don’t like is. 🤣 Thank you for the tutorial! I’m starting to get more comfortable with AI finally!
You're correct, ma'am! 😎 In LB, the text welds itself, but in AI, you have to Unite it as part of the design process. The copy and paste ability is one of the greatest things ever! Just make sure you have your DPI in LB set to 72 and not to 96. It's in the File Settings screen!
😢😢❤❤
Rip dogo
Hi Heather, it's very hard to engrave acrylic that deep and get clean results. I only engrave deep when making acrylic stamps, in that case I engrave with normal focus the 1st pass and defocus the 2nd pass to clean up any remaining lines. Those visual lines are normally related to the engraving lines overlapping. I don't believe is possible to engrave that deep at 400 DPI without line overlap... My 2 cents are, use minimum power that way you get the thinnest engraved line/dot and play with DPI/LPI to find the best results, also like you I defocus 2mm (Pros: Better quality. Cons: Longer engraving time because of Higher DPI) Remember Higher Power and/or Defocus will engrave thicker lines, so you will need to decrease the DPI/LPI (Pros: Faster engravings. Cons: Lower quality) Some people also uses a fine layer of dishwasher and get good results, didn't try this because I'm very happy with my results. My best engraving machine is the k40 because the 35w tube have a really thin laser beam and in low power can engrave at 500 DPI easily, my 100w at minimum power I engrave only at 250 DPI or lower. Take my tips with a grain of salt, every machine is different. Only trial and error will get you to a quality you're happy with. This is my job for +10 years ☺ Best of Luck with your channel, you got a new subscriber. Greetings from Portugal.
Appreciate you! 🫶🏻 Thanks for watching and following along!
Another great video Heather. Love learning these little tricks. Didn't know you could adjust the Z axis in Lightburn. Awesome!
Appreciate the feedback! 🎉 Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much, you are the best!
Great information!
Thanks, guys! I miss you already! 😆
This is not sending to the laser!! This is simply pressing play. Wasted my time trying to learn to. "send" to the laser
Correct, sir. As mentioned in the video, this is the way I send my files to the laser. I don't find the need to do a 180° at my desk and use the controller keypad on the laser instead. This way is much easier for me and others who have the same setup. Good thing there are multiple ways to accomplish the same end result with our machines! Aeon Laser USA has a bunch of tutorials in their Laser 101 training that will walk you through the steps to send your files to the controller first. 😎
hey i love the tutorial however, i want to make keychain offsets of an image which is image traced, because if we offset it directly the small pixels made by the image trace options shatter and makes a mess. so is there any way i can make outlines for that it would be helpfull💖
Hi! You'll find the steps you want in the offset part of this tutorial! ua-cam.com/video/GdWZUFjMTT8/v-deo.html
thanks a lot for helping me out
Thanks for watching!
Very helpful video. I have a glowforge aura so it only cuts 12". Do you have a video that shows how to cut font in 2 pieces so it's small enough to print? I hope that makes sense. What I'm trying to cut is a continuous 18" and i need to cut it in half to use the laser.
Hello! I don't have a video on here that shows this, but I'm happy to make one! Please send me an email with the file you're using and the changes you need and I can walk you through it!
Great video!! Very informative
Thanks for watching! 🫶🏻
Thank you for this tutorial I just downloaded the adobe illustrator and you have saved me a lot of time learning we just few steps!
Yayyyy! Thank you for watching! 🫶🏻
Does your computer have to be in the same room as your laser? Or can you use a USB to do designs?
It doesn't have to be in the same room. Mine is in my workshop next to my desk, but there are a lot of customers who have their computer in another room. There is a WiFi connection built into the machine as well, if needed, but I prefer using the USB connection!
@@LoBoDesigns Thank you!
Hi. I have been working with a Chinese laser for the past 7 years and using coreldraw for my designs since it has a macro that sends my graphics directly to the laser without the need to convert it to SVG format. Lately i decided to switch to illustrator since it has more tools. I stumbled upon your youtube channel after searching for a tutorial and i love it!!! you are great and so clear in your tutorials.
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! I appreciate you! 🫶🏻
Happy Easter too!🐣
Hope it's a great one! 🫶🏻
First comment
😂
What you are showing will not result in the laser cutting a dashed line. Instead, it will cut what looks like a row of very small rectangles. This is because when you expanded the dashed line, it turned it into the outline of the shape that it formed on the screen. When you go to cut this in the laser, it is going to cut a very small rectangle in every spot where it should be cutting a straight dash. This will not work for creating a proper perforated line.
Correct! This tutorial is specifically showing how to expand the design so the laser recognizes the outline of each rectangle, whether it be for engraving or cutting. Not to be used for perforation cuts, solely for design elements or cut paths.
Had no idea this feature existed. Love it. Great video!
Thanks for watching! It's one of my fave tools!
Very nice❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching! 😎
Great video but can you tell me how you can stretch the letters on illustrator on the ipad please?
When you say stretch, do you want to warp the design or keep it at-scale and make it larger?
warp it so for example the letter A you could stretch one side of the letter so it would be longer?@@LoBoDesigns
You're amazing! Thank you!
Thanks for watching! 🫶🏻
Love this thank you
Welcome, buddy! Thanks for watching!
Would the smooth tool be better for smoothing out the lines?
The Smooth tool can help with this sometimes, but you'll lose some of the fine details. For this project, I like the look of the font as-is so smoothing it out would change the look, but it's definitely a solid tool when it's needed!
@@LoBoDesigns ok thank you for the reply
What type of woods were you using, they are beautiful! (Curious if you use stains & veneers or simply just the plywood). Also, do you apply the 3M backing to sheets by hand or there is a faster way? Thank you so much!
would love to see a vide on how to apply the 3M to large sheets :)
Hi! Thanks for watching! The walnut backer is baltic birch stained with Varathane and the whiteboard is Duro Laserable whiteboard from JPPlus! For 3M, I use the 12" rolls with a brayer and adhere it with my hands, old school way! 😆
Thank you so much! Last question, did u finish this wood with anything? Do you generally finish projects?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! So very helpful!!
Thank you for watching! Glad it was helpful!
