    Excellent review and commentary and reaction. You spotted some of the visual stuff that many people haven't noticed. I watched this movie as a kid (9 or 10yo) and it had a huge impact on me. As for the sequels, there's dinner here among the hardcore fans but they're definitely worth watching, at least once. Part 3 is the weakest because it is pg13 (i think) - an attempt to extend the franchise merch, Peter Weller is not there anymore, and it was filmed like a 90s Canadian tv series, but still worth watching just to see the end of the trilogy. The tv shows were so so. One again, great video, keep em coming😊

    excellent review, a few things. OCP owns the cops, so they can reslease anyone I guess, Blade runner had lots more budget. I remeber the 80's Regan Star Wars project being annouced. Watch the other directors films as I guess others have said. And do Return of the living dead, another classic fromt the 80's that always gets missed.

    I know why he was so fascinated with the eggs. Ya gotta look at the universe this movie is set in. Its dystopia where everyone is poor except for the mega corps like Weyland-Yutani. So everyone is looking for a payday to stand a chance of living a decent life.

    If treat this show as non canon tv series the I would give it a score of 4/10. There was pretty good acting in few scenes, and the brutality of the wasteland was pretty nicely done. However if you start taking into the account the lore of Fallout Universe the we start to have some complications. Firstly we have the infamous board explaining the history of NCR that doesn't sit well with the events happening in Fallout New Vegas game (the did even get wrong how New Vegas looks in the final scene of this tv series). Secondly the didn't showed us any alive creatures like Super Mutants, Deathclaws, Fire Geckos, Protectrons, Sentry Bots, bloatfly's, Radscorpions, and Mirelurks (I will skip Wanamingo, since they were destroyed by the Chosen One). Finnaly there wasn't any usage of energy weapons through the entire duration of this tv series (the energy weapons are the primary weapons for Brotherhood of Steel faction). Oxhorn did pretty good video explaining how that infamous board explaining the history of NCR is problematic to the lore events from Fallout New Vegas. Ps. I wonder if there were any easter eggs referencing Fallout Brotherhood of Steel PS2 game, and Fallout Online (known as Projekt V13) that we could find in Fallout TV series?

    Apparently, there is a backstory to the Gimp that didn't make the cut into the film, that Tarantino explained in an interview, and was also to be metaphor of what would eventually COULD've been Wallace's fate if not rescued by Butch...TeeHee

      @kevsclassicmovies 10 днів тому

      Really! What could his fate have been?!

    • @altSHIFTNerd
      @altSHIFTNerd 10 днів тому

      @@kevsclassicmovies According to Tarantino, the gimp was a hitch-hiker Zed and crew picked up and conditioned into becoming who he was when we, the audience, was introduced to as "the Gimp". Wallace would've became such an individual if left behind by Butch. Zed woulda essentially conditioned him into becoming a serve-without-question gimp. It's a power thing---even if Zed wasn't aware WHO Marcel Wallace was in reputation and such, it is still about domination and Wallace woulda become a submissive, in other words.

    I didn't watch it when it first came out because my mother had passed of lung cancer (from second-hand smoke). Finally watched it a year ago and it's become my all-time favorite show. Never thought a show about drug cartels would be my go-to, but the acting, cinematography, music and writing are first rate and has won many awards. First season is probably the slowest and was cut short by a writer's strike.

    Thinking of the dynamic of the crew and why I think you shouldn't judge them too harshly for their decisions is that you have to keep in mind that they're just truckers, in space, they're not scientists nor military. They were woken up from a routine mission of hauling ore and told, by the computer, that they have to investigate this signal that seems like it may be an SOS or they will forfeit their shares for this haul that obviously is taking them at least a couple of years. So, they go out to investigate, find this derelict alien ship. Long dead, then one of them gets attacked and injured so they want to just leave. Ripley, as 1st officer, is like, "No, we can't risk contamination." Everyone else is understandably freaking out and Ash lets them back on the ship, which becomes obvious later because that was HIS mission. None of these people are equipped for anything CLOSE to this extraordinary situation. It's not like they went there with a purpose of finding something like this, they were just interrupted in doing their hauling job. Thinking about the bigger picture, they were most likely set up by the company for this exact thing to happen. Well, actually they probably would've rathered keep the ore and the alien alive but they probably planned on sacrificing that whole crew. The Weyland Corp is evil, man. That's what many people have come to the conclusion is the REAL villain in the Alien movies. The alien just does what it does and Ash is just programmed BY the company.

    • @kevsclassicmovies
      @kevsclassicmovies Місяць тому

      Honestly it was a very good story writing detail! It's understandable that the crew would be panicked. I assumed Ash was just panicked and let them in because he wanted to save them. • @ldkinbote

      @@kevsclassicmovies Yeah, it never really crosses anyone's mind that Ash (or anyone) could be an android.

  • @ldkinbote
    @ldkinbote Місяць тому

    I'd heard, many years later 'cause they don't really explain the dynamics so much of the characters, that all of the crew are familiar with each other and that's why they talk that way with each other, but Ripley is a young new 1st officer, so they don't know her as well and therefore don't respect her authority as much. Ash was also new and placed with them as the science officer by the company. So, thinking back on it, the company knew about this place and the potential of an alien which is why they had that directive in Mother and put Ash on the crew to make sure the "most valuable thing" survives and gets brought back to the company. All the people? Eh, expendable.

    • @kevsclassicmovies

I was like "Why didn't the helmet protect him?" Also, I JUST now heard it in your reaction that when it jumps out of the egg onto his helmet, you can actually hear the hissing, I'm guessing of the acid.

    • @kevsclassicmovies
      @kevsclassicmovies Місяць тому

  • @ldkinbote
    @ldkinbote Місяць тому

    When the Nostromo lands on the planet and they go out in their suits, to show the scale of how large it is, they had children in little suits in the outdoor shots and in the wider derelict ship shots. That was Ridley Scott's kid(s) along with some other crew members', I think. I heard all this when I watched the commentary on the DVD of the Director's Cut when they first put the quadrilogy on DVD. The derelict ship and the surrounding landscape was a miniature carved from Styrofoam, but it was the size of room and it was done in a hanger (I think) and in order for it not to look like a miniature and for you to not see the flaws, they used fog machines and chose to shoot it, mostly, through the monitor on the ship. So, the audience is seeing what the people on the ship are seeing, which make it look creepier and HUGE. It's thoughts like that which make me marvel at Ridley Scott's creativity. I don't know if I would've thought to shoot it that way. I think he implied that it's kinda a cheat 'cause they didn't have a lot of money, but hey, isn't that all movie-making, especially sci-fi? See how creatively you can convey your story so it gets the point across with as least as many distractions as possible? I think that's why so many people prefer miniatures 'cause even though CG can convey sci-fi and fantasy concepts many times more concretely, many people focus on IT and are distracted from the story being told. I remember Scott saying on there, at the time, that of all his movies he's done, this one is the one that still holds up. I agree still and I heard that commentary, probably about a couple of decades ago.

I really want my channel to be genuine and fun! I REALLY appreciate your comment!! It's a huge compliment! Thank you!!

    If you are still struggling with autoimmune disorder, consider spending a family vacation at the Geshundheit Institute, where your whole family can learn the art of healing with laughter and fun. Patch has retired to Urbana, IL, so he will not be at the G. Institute, but the people running it now are just as good at connecting, laughing and loving.

      It's awesome it's still up and running! I do have my issues, but diet has controlled it very well :) thanks for the input!! I was shocked this was based off a true story! Very heart warming!

    Look at Patch Adam's UA-cam videos to find out how much of the movie is true, but the Geshundheit Institute is a real place you can go to learn to heal and/or to be healed, with humor and love. The video about Robin starts to touch on how much of the movie is true, but there may be others that go into more. BTW, Robin is thought to have had progressing Lewey Body Dementia that was causing him to lose his ability to act and clown around, and that may be why he chose when his life should end, before he slipped visibly and lost all his abilities and had people thinking of him with pity rather than admiration. But I wish Robin would have reached out to Patch when he began to feel suicidal, because some time with Patch and the Gesundheit Institute could have helped him to feel good about what he still had, rather than what he was losing, just as Patch is doing with his amputation now.

    • @kevsclassicmovies
      @kevsclassicmovies Місяць тому

      That's never a good way to go, but I can certainly respect Robin for deciding his own fate before he lost his ability to think for himself :( I had never heard he might have had that! That's terrifying and sad :/

  • @chrissnyder8108
    @chrissnyder8108 Місяць тому

    BTW, the tragic death in the movie, was altered from the real life Patch Adam's biography, still was a best friend, but in real life was a he, not a she. Patch Adam's biography is still going on, one of his videos on UA-cam shares how he felt about Robin after Robin's death, and another shares how he decided to cope with needing his foot amputated. He is still alive at nearly 75 years old, and still doing good and making people laugh.

      Interesting!! I wonder why they decided to make the character a woman instead?! I'll have to look up his reaction to Robin's passing. I'm sure that would be a great watch!

    BTW, for the estrogen-challenged host, the stirrups are used at every gynecological exam for your whole life from your early teen years until you die, whether or not you ever get pregnant, as is the speculum, and I'm not going to tell you how the later gets used, you can look it up for yourself, but if you think a prostrate exam is bad, you ain't seen nothing yet!

    And now you have the chance to get to learn about another great comedian / healer, by looking up the real Patch Adams videos and by checking out the Geshundheit Institute which is the learning healing & fun institute that was Patch's home when he was practicing, partially built with the funds from the movie, lots of which you can find hear on UA-cam.

    @19:57 "Ideologies have been steadily creeping in and ruining great franchises" - the inclusion of a trans actress portraying a character in the Brotherhood didn't "ruin" it, but it was noticeable and annoying; the discourse around this casting decision was even more annoying, and clearly motivated by leftist political views. Again, it didn't "ruin" the show - mainly because she was portraying a side character, and only in a handful of episodes - but this could definitely be viewed as an ideology "steadily creeping in", and I don't think it added anything to the show...

    • @kevsclassicmovies

      I noticed the trans actress in the first episode and initially was like oh god here we go. But she only had the 5 minutes of screen time and we didn't see her again until the the last two and she didn't have even a large part, so that made me happy. But I can see a few underlying political left issues with the show, but largely it seems it stayed away. Although I have been bummed that I haven't seen a same race couple in tv ib like 10 years it seems like :/ thank you for the comment and tuning in!!

      @@kevsclassicmovies yup, if she's in the next season I hope her part is as sparse as the first, or she's in it even less... it doesn't make sense to the story at all to have a trans character in the BROTHERHOOD... maybe they could get away with it if she was a resident of Vault 4 LOL I just hope she remains on the periphery of what was otherwise an enjoyable series and not an early warning sign of more poor, regressive leftist ideological decisions 'steadily creeping in' to the production in the future...

      Fallout was made by a gay guy. It is pretty unwoke for being made by a gay guy.

    • @connorapurcell
      @connorapurcell Місяць тому

      @@theheatinferno8420 the sexual preferences of a storyteller are irrelevant, gay ≠ woke, and your assertion relies on a false equivalency; also, attributing the entirety of the Fallout series and game series to one person is ludicrous. An analogous situation would be attributing the entirety of Star Wars to George Lucas - yes, he was the original creator and is responsible for developing the foundation that all of Star Wars has built upon, but there are countless creatives who have contributed immensely to various Star Wars projects... saying that Star Wars was all made by George would be disingenuous and would discount the contributions made by others - that's precisely what you're doing to Fallout by saying that it was "made by a gay guy" (which again, isn't relevant anyways).
