    Mate - the Scots did NOT wear kilts until hundreds of years later... And kilts weren't originally a Highland garment but likely an Anglo-Scottish border garment adopted by the Highlanders. Great video though, really enjoyed it.

    Bellows Crag on Lindesfarne isn't igneous rock,it is in fact petrified wood. These stories are put about to hide the bible and the fact that these mounds,hills and mountains were once trees that were felled by the "Watchers". The true account of what happened is contained within The Book Of Enoch,one of the apochryphal books of the bible. Castles were built on these tree stumps to disguise this and evidence can be seen at Bamburgh Castle,Edinburgh Castle etc. Fingals Cave and the Giants Causway are two glaring examples of tree fibres petrified and turned to rock. Of course there is the ludicrous story of volcanic lava columns to hide the truth. One of the most obvious tree stumps in the world is the Devils Tower in Wyoming of course.

      Yes and awaiting trial at the crown court. We all hope they serve time. You might want to watch the new mini series "Above Hadrians Wall" no commentary apart from an intro and conclusion, but a flight over the entire northern frontier of the Roman Empire in 122. All episodes are posted to date but the whole full length film in 4K will go live at 6pm (GMT) on 23rd August. Best wishes Jon

      @@jonimrye5722 I hope so too but sadly I don’t believe that the sentence will equate to the damage they did. A lot of people didn’t even know it was there, but to others it was far more than just a tree. Thanks I’ll check it out 👍

    All your videos are quality and with great amount of historical and geographical facts and knowledge BUT its nearly imposible to work out whats the content going to be about. Titles arent giving any clue in most cases so you I think you are loosing viewers and not artracting more traffic to your account. I am from South Shields and watched your video about Souter Lighthouse but only by accident as there was no indication that its about my local area. In my eyes title should closer to " History of Souter Lighthouse in South Shields / Sunderland North East" Then whoever types any of these will be closer to seeing your videos ;) Ignore me if I am wrong ! 😊 All the best! 😊

      I appreciate your views, but I disagree. They are put into playlists firstly so that once you are watching a series they all follow a sequence. Secondly I dont produce individual films about any subject they are all part of one series or another. Each episodes have numerous tags added so that when people are searching for something in content in my videos related to that search will show up, or at least thats what UA-cam claim? The Title of the film also tells you where the film is focused on. I cant make it any simpler than that. Who said Im losing viewers anyway??? Thanks again for your concern best wishes Jon

      Hi Wendy thank you for watching and for your comment. Please subscribe if you havent already done so as you are in for a real treat. Starting next month I am beginning a new project looking at the Rivers of the North East of England and the first river is the Tweed. We will visit all the border region from Tweedsmuir through Peebles Innerleithen Galashiels Melrose Roxburgh Kelso and Coldstream. The film you just watched was one of a trilogy I made over three years ago when I started the channel. If you have seen any of my recent films you will know I now have a drone, so the plan is to follow the river from Tweedsmuir stopping at all the places of interest along its course to its Estuary at Berwick. By subscribing you will receive notifications from UA-cam when each new film is posted. My very best wishes Jon

    Thank you so much Jon. I've been saving this one because I knew it would bring up so many memories and emotions. I lost my front teeth playing tiggy at the battery. Ridley Park had the biggest, most dangerous, slide I've ever seen in a council park. As a child it was a daunting prospect. I remember the bombsites well even 20 years after the war. I watched the old pit heap get turned into the new golf course. I can still hear the sound of the foghorn lulling me to sleep at night.

      50 year old memories are that it does look much as it did but I don't remember so much rock being exposed. I seem to recall being taught that sand moves south on the East coast, perhaps the sand mining at Druridge Bay affected nearby beaches. Viewing your excellent drone footage I'm now wondering if Sandy Bay caravan park is named for the small bay in the Wansbeck estuary rather than the beach.

    • @jonimrye5722
      @jonimrye5722 2 місяці тому

      @@nilpoints That episode was filmed in January of 2023 and heavy winter seas often remove sand and then it returns during the summer. All part of natures cycle. The rocks at the north end of the bay are due to the ever crumbling cliffs falling onto the beach. Storm Arwin caused much of the cliffs to collapse too. As far as I know there has always been a holiday park at Sandy Bay and the name may have been deliberately chosen to attract visitors rather than being a description of the beach.

    Would you be able to show us a video on history of Millom Castle?

    • @jonimrye5722
      @jonimrye5722 2 місяці тому

      Hi Janice, Millom is a bit far from my base in Newcastle. I might be able to do it one day as one of my new short "Discovery days out". Ive had many requests to film Cumbria over the years, but on an old age pension it is too far to afford the travelling. I appealed earlier in the year for people to help by donating to the channel to help fund these projects further afield. Only six people responded to that request and while I was very grateful for there contributions not enough people responded to make any difference. That means I am restricted to areas in the North East. However as I said it might be possible to do it sometime in the future. Thanks for watching, best wishes Jon

    You gave me some great memories of visiting Howick Hall with my cousin and her husband when we were home in 2018. We toured the gardens, had tea and cake in the tearoom (twice 😊) and walked the path along the coastline. ❤🇬🇧

    Love the videos except for the music. Is distracting from the narration. +

      Hi Judy, yes I agree which is why my the narration is clean on all my current programmes. Please watch my more recent films 2022 onward you will find those have no annoying music. Also a number of the border castles will be revisited in my forthcoming project later this year when I begin the "Rivers Project". It will be a journey down the river Tweed as the first river in the series which incorporates 6 castles. You will notice all my recent programmes are supported with drone footage so this will be a spectacular presentation. Be sure to subscribe so as not to miss anything and please watch my other channel content, best wishes Jon
