    Keep up the good work , Damian....If you can combine the features of the X5 with the interchangeable springs , then , I believe you will have the ultimate Bullworker.. ...My old X5 is 42 years old.....It still works....It has lost some of its tension , but as I age , this suits me fine.....Good luck , and I look forward to more of your Bullworker videos ....Try to always feel the exercise "bite ". ...It' s a mild , but addictive , discomfort, and very empowering.....Bullworker forever.

      Yeah, sometimes you get these strength training devices doing the rounds on ebay/amazon when you try them you find there's just not enough resistance or they're poorly constructed and don't last. With this that's not a problem, with 40lb-440lb of adjustable pressure it's got you covered.

    The mask themselves are completely fine to wear. I wear them all of the time. The filter is the issue. You can wear the mask and have as much fun as you want just don’t use the filter. That is unless you’d love to have lung cancer. And as a former severe asthmatic, let me tell ya, it sucks not being able to breathe.

    Nice customizing job. It's YOUR Bullworker. As long as it's functional who says you can't have multiple units both all original and modified? I probably would've never thought to do something like this on my own.

    Glad I found this video. It showed me how to take my X5 apart to clean it. I cleaned and silicone oiled the springs. My biggest problem was pitting of the chrome tube and rust spots. I sorted that with white wine vinegar and water (75% vinegar and 25% water) and kitchen baking foil. Scrunch foil into a ball, dip in vinegar water mix and rub in to chrome tube. You will find the foil shapes to the profile of the bar. Just keep working the liquid mix in and change the foil a few times. A blackened watery mixture will develop, but it will remove the pitting and rust. After drying the tube off, I worked a little metal polish into the chrome. You will see some slight marks on the tube, but better than fighting with the pitting and rust, which kept making the tube stick and jar on the insides of the handles. Thanks for making this vid.

    I also have a blue bullworker. It's quality is high. But, it doesn't have the spring changing option like the original bullworker. It's very hard for a beginner to start working out with it. I am wearing wrist straps, since it's putting too much pressure on my wrists. I think they should provide us several springs of different resistance levels with the bullworker.

      I'd certainly be getting a brand new one if they still made them over here in the UK, but then just seemed to vanish from the shops around the mid 90's. If you get yourself a new one it will probably last a lifetime so money well spent I'd say.

    I had the red handled X5 many many years ago when they first came out. It took me months of saving up from my paper round to buy it. Last year, after decades of no exercise, I decided to get in shape, asked my mum last year if she still had it somewhere in her house. Unfortunately, she had thrown it out just a couple of years ago when having a big tidy up. What a shame. I would have loved to start using it again.

      Aww what a shame, never mind you might get lucky and find one on ebay, if not go for the black bullworker x5 with the red traction ropes which seem more plentiful on the second hand market and are virtually the same tension.

    Appreciate your review. I obtained one of these India Bullworkers during the shutdown era. A friend of mine scoured secondhand stores and picked it up for $5 US. You're spot on on most, but I also noticed that the plastic they use for the handle is not as high of quality as the original Bullworker, such as your MK2 model. Where the cables exit the handles is a weak point, at least for mine. It has torn the plastic. Overall, the spring is fairly tough/high in resistance. I use this one mixed in with my X5 model during workouts. I can use this for Archers, but chest compressions are tougher for me with this unit. It may be that I'm a bit shorter and the arm length is not as long to provide me with the proper leverage. I find the X5 more suitable for me during chest compressions. Anyway, thank you for this review.

    • @damianjones7554
      @damianjones7554 5 місяців тому

      Hello, thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed my take on this variant of the bullworker. On my bullworker I've not really noticed the weak point and the handles plastic seems quite solid, maybe I just got lucky. I'd say the only thing that could have been better is the length of the unit falls slightly short of the bullworker 2, but the overall build quality I found quite satisfactory. It will have to stand the test of time like the others I suppose and if its still here in 40/50 years then we'll know its a good one lol. 😅 👍

    An excellent video. I see it in the same way. I started with the Iso7X. The new models have their advantages, but the price is much higher. You will get the same results with the older ones or the cheaper models. The important thing is the regular training. There is a big difference between Marketing and the real workout. My favorite device is the Bullworker. I also have the modern ones, but my ISO7 is still my choice when I do a perfect workout. Maybe it is the same with Yours for You.

I was looking up vintage chest expanders as I'm thinking about purchasing a device that will be an upgrade over what I have and one link lead to another and I noticed there is a company in England called Springmasters and you can get exercise springs of various tensions. Can complete your unit or get unwordly strong springs.

    Hi Damian I read in the comments that someone claiming to be collector said yours was a fake ignore him open the bottom a read what it has printed on the casting. It will say made in England or j&e Stevens. Thank you so much for your post. Your pricing although old is still spot on. The original patent was given in 1882 to Charles shepard and Peter Adams #12814 who sold it in 1892 to j & e Stevens. The number on the rear is the Stevens patent because upon buying it from shepard they had applied to change the design slightly from the expensive shepard coin trap to the cheaper round twist method.also the original 82 to 92 model had a solid plate on the bottom reading shepard and co. The most desirable models for collectors are the jnb in red like yours made in the black country (no pun intended)by John harper (jr)and Co. These differed from the American made ones in lots of small ways. The jh foundry was far superior to the American ones so the casting quality was Noticeable. The mechanical arm was held together by a rivet in the upper arm and wrist (later but pre 1925 by a single rivet just in wrist) and the use of undercoat prior to painting which is why the jh ones still look so superb. Jh before been licenced to produce these for the UK market had made locks for 50 years so there's was the only jnb to have a lock and key. Thank you again for your researched video I enjoyed it. Stu.
