Good morning: I am from Treviso - Italy, passionate about small engines, and I recently discovered your site, where you offer some interesting videos. I am writing to you so that you, please, with your experience, could help me understand a carburetion problem for my brush cutters. I have two Kawasaki brush cutters of the TJ series, 35 and 27 cc., which have Walbro mod, wya 39 carburetors, with a central idle adjustment screw, and a rotating cylindrical valve, and they do not have any adjustment for the maximum. I find myself in this situation: not trusting the 2% mixture, I did a test, and also at 2.5%. and also at 3%. 1) 2%: the engine runs very well, it does not smoke, it rises well, but when I examine the spark plug I find it very clean, dry and very white in color: if I am not mistaken, very lean. 2) 2.5%: the engine is a little slower, it smokes at idle only until it is no longer warm. Note that in the medium-high revs, it runs four-stroke, and returns to normal at maximum. The examination of the spark plug reveals a little carbon deposit on the crown, while the porcelain is medium gray: it seems to be richer. 3) 3%: the engine is ready, it is very linear in delivery, it does not smoke on any occasion. The examination of the spark plug indicates a clean situation, with the porcelain gray: could it be a slightly lean situation? I beg you, then, to receive advice from you, if you consider my procedure valid, or other procedures to be able to have optimal carburetion. You forgot to mention to open the vent on the fuel tank and to open the fuel valve… how many times did i forget to do thoes. Haha

thant means total notging , 5 min on the water and the same problem :)

Simple operation, just have to take off lower unit. There should be some videos posted on here showing the procedure. It’s a good idea to change it every 4-6 years depending on how often you use it. Never start your motor “dry” you can destroy it very quickly.

I have this same mercury 40HP 2 stroke engine but my problem is I don’t know how to change my worn impeller. Can you please advice me on how to change this model impeller?
