Good video. Just got a lot of nostalgia for old flight games like "Combat Wings" and "Air Conflicts"'; completely clunky now but immensely fun and interesting at the time. Out of those "Heroes Over Europe" (released in 2009) was an amazing game and my favourite, but once War Thunder released that was relegated to the past.

Quite sorry for the very late video, I have been working hard on finishing this, but had to take a few breaks in between due to university finals and me moving like 500 km away from where I used to live. The audio might sound a bit different, as I happened to record most of it while sick with whooping cough. Not sure how I got that at my age. The conclusion ended up being redone entirely and does sound quite a bit cleaner. UA-cam appears to have muted one of the two audio tracks in certain sections (audio coming only from 1 ear, affects a dozen seconds or so during the entire video)? If the issue occurs to you as well, know that this is not from my side, I failed to reproduce the error in my video editor. Hopefully you'll still enjoy the video regardless, more stuff to come.

The Realistic mode really kicked that first plane's ass. Also, I remember UT2k4 and its insane racing maps.

How can I unlock the missions

I'm no expert but I heard War Thunder single player content is a joke and practically non-existent... which is why I never had any interest in it. It's a shame, I think the developers are the same ones who made Wings of Prey and that thing had the best terrain of any combat flight sim I tried, and I've played them all... if they just got a clue and added a decent mission builder and the ability to mod, that thing woulda/coulda took over the market.

I would add that using Hydroplanes is recommended to use with Low BR coastal, as you often have one distant cap point, where Bluewater ships go at higher BRs, that takes ages to get to in order to cap it and Hydroplane can get there and cap it much faster!

Are there any single player missions that are more historical? Ground combat related preferable. I know there are "infantry" models in the game but have they made them usuable (not playable)? I would love to play a historical mission with friends. Assualting a defensive line in 1942 or conducting a fighting withdraw in 1944. etc.

G'day, Huh you INAVY gents probably have the most NF CC's heh. Informative alright although I will say shrapnel shells do have a use, Only mainly as crude HE-DF shells that can shoot down aircraft or discourage them from continuing their attack runs (Noticeable seen with the Flower class Corvette, Isles class naval trawler, Project 2 SKR, Grey class Steam Gunboat). It's frustrating that the later ships have different DM's compared to similar ships in the other TT ntm how we can't research either TT anymore grrr but hey good to see someone else enjoying the Kaibōkan artillery barrage heh..

i wish they skipped the whole dreadnought coastal and interwar and started with war thunder naval in 1950s ships the ww1 and ww2 ships are so god darn boring to play you cant imagine it...and the fact you get less RP and currency than in the other modes while consuming 2-3 times of time in combat is incredible i can only tell you one thing never play war thunder naval unless they add missile ships.

Theres a better naval game, also under gaijin, for mobile. Modern Warships, way more of a cash grab too.

Between me axing about 20% of the original script and recorded footage, and UA-cam being glitchy with the subtitles and the audio, this video indeed took quite a while to put out.
