I’m so sorry! I have degus and they have bit me before but they’ve been really bad before but nowhere near this bad 😢😅

I have 3 boys... They must be separated in single cages, because of brutal bloody fighting. It was horrible to see, how they ugly bite each other 😔😔. One (the smallest) of them almost died. In the past, when they was younger, none of that was reality. They slept with each other in friendly way. It was so cute and great to see... But now, I'm sad 🥺... Only way to little bit of socializing them, is to place them together in neutral place for a small amount of time and when they started to "boxing", it's the right time to grab them away, rather to see another ugly injuries. I like to see, that It's sometimes possible to introduce degus with friendship result. ❤

Hi i have two male degus they were together since a long time then after i moved to another house i took them with me and bought a new cage everything was alright until i cleaned it one time I and put them back in it and they started fighting anywhere i put them they fight. One of them bleeded from his ear and i separated them from each other now. Why do you think this happend. They really hate each other now

I have ones but they are most of the time scared of cars because they went trought a lot trauma but now they are happy and healthy

aa! so cute you are the only degu channel I found that doesnt have posts from like 8 yrs ago lol. I live in US so degus aren't common AT ALL also there is little to no information on the internet abt degus. So thanks for posting!

Tips for owning degus and a little bit of info! - Degu's are very intelligent species among rodents. - They are mostly active during the day. - In general, you can check your degu's health by looking at their teeth. The yellower they are, the more healthier they are! If they are white, you should immediately send them to the local vet. - Do not buy degu's where there aren't any exotic or degu vets in your area. If something bad happens, you will not have expert help. - Always have a big cage, they are very active animals and require running space. - It is recommended to have a runner wheel ( One of those spinning things where they run on ), this promotes extra exercise amongst them.

Degus arent allowed in my country I live in south america

Yeah, this is a real danger with degus and other pet rodents. When they start going at it, grabbing them is the wrong call to make, since they're already wired for a fight and getting grabbed will make them bite before they realise what's happening. I haven't been bitten by my degus, not seriously anyway (they can sometimes groom a bit hard which might break the skin) but with my pet rats earlier, doing this was the only time I ever got bit in 15 years of keeping them. The upside, though, is that once you get bit like that, you tend to remember what not to do!

I'm planning to get degus. I have a cage and the same thing outside the cage (dont know the name in English). I was wondering is there a difference in behaviour if they are female or male. For every rodent they say a female's behaviour is like this compared to a male. So I was wondering whether there is a difference in behaviour with degus?

Do the degus get out of the play pen? My 17 years old daughter was gifted a degu and we are trying to create the safest easily sustainable environment for him.

Lately ive been getting bored of the standard grocery store snacks such as cheese balls and chips, my desperation for something new has grown exponentially lately! I have searched the web for new things to try but i came across these two lovely specimens! How much are they per unit, i would love to buy in bulk if you have more.
