Thank you for bringing their voices to light :) I hardly ever can find stories about NZ-based experiences for POC so I’m so so glad that you guys are making this documentary. It finally feels like thousands of us are being heard and represented <3 I -and I’m sure many others out there, relate to so many aspects and share the experiences and feelings that our hybrids go through. Through the shared experiences and stories, it feels like a lil community is being built :) excited to see future projects!

I wonder why some of the people keep saying they don't need migrants (small portion of people to be honest, they are just loud to whine) but the govt keep extending and extending visa of temporary workers for like since the border close... as if they need them badly and want them here for longer. Shop are closing due to lack of employee with specialise skill or some even just employee to work for them. What more getting to NZ isn't walk in the park, other country have it easier. So expect migrants to be very capable... And lastly if you trace your root most likely you came from a migrant family too, which shows migration is a good thing cuz with we have you here ;)

I have say the best part is when your father criticize your identity as a artist just because you are holding the canon camera 🤣🤣🤣😂 love his reaction ay 🔥 This was such a good overview of how language is first stepping stone to different cultures and how you adjust your language/tone /voice to be part of that culture ay. I still struggle with accent though. Living in nz for 10 yrs, i dont care about my accent and the way i speak anymore as long as i can deliver my msg. I used to try really hard to be like kiwi, and sound like kiwi, but i think whats more important is being who your are. And the rest just follows. 😉

Just wanna say how meaningful it is to shoot this documentary. As a person living abroad, I couldn't express myself in the local language at the beginning. I tried my best to learn the language and integrate myself into life here, which made me sigh at the diversity of the world. Love and peace.X

For haters- Your government invites international students for sake of money as they pay 4 times more than a kiwi without asking for student loan which will probably never paid back by kiwis. Your government brings people on work visas because country gets more tax payers while government charges them extra for everything. Immigrants come to nz without their families, without any contacts and still manage to find job and succeed in life in most cases while kiwis are asking for unemployment benefits. Ones complaining about immigrants taking their jobs are the most useless species on this planet, because if an immigrant who doesn’t know anyone, doesn’t speak your language as fluent as you gets a job and you can’t. I’m afraid there’s something wrong with you. You hate immigrants? Maybe get your people to work more and generate more tax so your government would not need immigrants. What are you complaining about here??

Well my grandad was Croatian one side, Scots the other and My Nana was a total ally to Maori, lived on Marae, spoke te reo Maori fluently. I love this conversation, I'm ashamed of the ignorance shown in the comments here. Every one of those people has immigrant blood I'll bet you, the colonisation is strong in this thread. I say welcome and thank you for enriching my country, our country ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. It doesn't exclude the fact Maori are our first people, and as for the pakeha with bad attitudes...just go back to sleep..it seems to be what you've mostly done, imagine feeling bold enough to show your racism. This documentary series is simply about the stories of six people born of immigrants and their experiences growing up and living in New Zealand. There is no agenda here, no complaining or whining, just real human stories. Whether you like it or not, New Zealand is a multi-cultural country; these individuals were raised here by no choice of their own and feel privileged to have been. We merely ask that whatever your beliefs, you can take a step back, open your mind and listen to these human stories just as they are: human stories. Or don't. It's all love baby.

Maoris cannot be racist since Racism is a combination of power & prejudice. Indians have their own nation armed with Nuclear weapons. Maoris have nothing, they live as a minority in what was once their own lands. India can send millions of their people to New Zealand until the demographics reach such a point that the majority in New Zealand are Indians and at that point India will become the defacto owner of New Zealand.
