Fashion That Heals: Building Your Wellness Wardrobe- Ep 129: Too Young To Be Old
In this episode of Too Young To Be Old, Diane Gilman, formerly known as the Queen of Jeans, introduces listeners to an innovative concept that merges fashion and wellness: the wellness wardrobe. Diane shares her personal experiences and insights on how curative clothing can empower women, especially those over 50, by improving comfort, addressing health concerns, and enhancing overall well-being.
Building a Wellness Wardrobe
Diane starts the conversation by explaining the concept of a "wellness wardrobe," which she refers to as "fashion-suiticals." This revolutionary approach to fashion goes beyond aesthetics, focusing on clothing that serves a functional, health-boosting purpose. Diane shares how, as we age, clothing can do more than just make us look good - it can also help alleviate common health concerns like aches, joint pain, and swelling.
Compression and Curative Clothing: Fashion That Heals
One of the standout points of the episode is Diane's discussion on compression wear. She emphasizes the benefits of garments like compression stockings, copper-infused tops, and knee sleeves that promote blood circulation, reduce swelling, and provide comfort for joint pain. Diane candidly shares her personal struggles with lymphedema following breast cancer, highlighting how these garments have made a significant difference in her life.
Fashion for Pain Relief: Can It Really Work?
Diane opens up about her experience with curative clothing for joint pain, specifically mentioning her reliance on copper-infused leggings and shirts to alleviate discomfort. She acknowledges that while these items may only offer 20% improvement, that’s often enough to make a noticeable difference. Diane encourages listeners to explore options like copper-infused garments and other compression wear, sharing that it's been instrumental in managing her own aches and pains.
Rash Guard and Skin Protection
Diane also touches on her sensitive skin and her history with skin cancer. She recommends rash guard clothing with SPF protection for those who are sensitive to sunlight or concerned about skin damage. She highlights that these garments are not only functional but also fashionable, allowing women to stay protected while looking great.
Tackling Cellulite and Water Retention
Another key topic Diane addresses is cellulite and water retention, issues many women over 50 face. She introduces her listeners to lymphatic drainage leggings, anti-cellulite shapewear, and other solutions designed to improve blood circulation and reduce swelling. Diane emphasizes that while these garments may not entirely eliminate cellulite, they can provide real relief and comfort for everyday wear.
Temperature-Regulating Fashion
For those dealing with hot flashes or cold sensitivities, Diane highlights the benefits of temperature-regulating clothing. She shares her love for brands like We Norwegians and Cordova, which offer cozy, insulating leggings perfect for cold weather. She also recommends cooling garments for those hot summer days, underscoring the importance of clothing that adapts to your body’s changing needs.
A Trend for Women Over 50
Throughout the episode, Diane emphasizes that the demand for wellness-oriented fashion is growing, particularly among women over 50. She encourages listeners to embrace this trend as part of their self-care routine, offering a way to stay stylish while also taking care of their bodies.

Was completely unaware of more than what I own in sun protective clothing and compressive socks. Great topic!
Brava ! Wow you emanate beauty & poz energy ! New subscriber here. I’m 64. Love, Liz
Aging is difficult. I hate it.
And lots of plastic surgery 🙄
It is so hard to accept aging. I have a very hard time with it, as most women do. It doesn't matter if u are pretty, thin, fit or fat: as women, we see our power as coming from our youth & beauty. . Doesn't help that Hollywood touts men for aging, saying hiw string & handsome they are, while the women are out there butchering their faces & bodies just to stay "marketable". So sad
***Diane, we all love you but please, check yourself before filming. You have hair & "stuff" all over your black top. 😮❤
You are so right, the medical community is not stepping up and that's the truth.
This isxwhat happens when you have spent your life paying attention to being "alluring'', and nothing else. Clips like this make me really appreciate having other things in life to fully engage in other than "mourning" lost youth.
❤❤❤
You always continue to fascinate me!!!!!!!
Many years ago. I met Diane. She's definitely "not" a nice person. Save the pitty party. What goes around, comes around.
As a young breast cancer I appreciated these perspectives ladies thank you. Did wish to hear more from the guest though and her experience!
The Sheila story made me cry. Thank God for Sheila!!! ❤️ 💙 💜 💐 💐 💐
You look beautiful. But I have to say, you used to look like a Raquel Welch-type movie star! 🎬 🌟 ⭐️
Excellent, as always!
Well, you look fantastic lady, great advice thank you😅
My grandma always said, “gettin older ain’t for sissies”. Now that I’m 53 & widowed at 46, I’m learning how true that statement was. However, with this age & trauma in my life I have finally found peace with spending time with myself. I have learned to actually like myself & my looks & my saggy boobies & buttocks. I enjoy being alone now. Perhaps too much because I don’t like being out in public anymore. Anyway, my hubby doesn’t get that privilege. Getting older is truly a privilege, just not an easy one.
I didn't have to work at ageing. I just sat back and let it happen. I've never been happier. Never worry about how I look. Just try and be neat and clean. Don't care what anyone thinks. People who don't like old people can take a flying jump off the next ledge. Don't worry if I want to stay home. Don't bother answering questions, the phone or the door if I don't feel like it. Freedom!
Cannot be in late 70s.
Okay so this guy is a business financier. He just handed this host an entire load of VERY misinterpreted Medi-Cal and scientific information and VERY basic (like lower level undergrad biochem major) facts about human biology. He might sound okay if you’re not really listening due to his unwarranted confidence and seemingly memorized set of genetic and medical words and phrases. (Btw “estrogen dominance” is nowhere near a scientifically nor medically accepted term. It’s nonsense invented by social media.) If an individual has a medical need or compelling family history reasons for genetic testing most major insurers will cover both state of the art testing as well as counseling with an individual HIGHLY EDUCATED IN THE RELEVANT SCIENTIFIC FIELDS, NOT BUSINESS OR FINANCE. Do not - DO NOT - chase your precious health information or instruction on the internet or social media from people with anterior competing motives. Seek out a qualified health professional in real life. Oh! And yes. If you’re wondering: over 25 years in biochem research at a T50 university, so I guess I know what I’m talking about a little bit. :)
You look beautiful❤ Luuuuv your style
Exceptional. I made a totally new shopping list!
Woman shut your mouth so we can watch him work
You are in your late 70's? You look very nice! 😊
If you have intellectual curiosity - you will never be bored. Internet is eager to help.
Every day is a gift from God! 😊
Yes. Learn to love yourself at any age. ♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I stopped reading and subscribing to fashion magazines when they ventured outside of fashion topics. My style is mostly classic and elegant, which as Chanel said, is always in fashion.
Inspirational video and gorgeous hair !
Same as u. But some less❤🎉❤

For you to say "unless you want to give your maid a heart attack" is the most tone deaf thing I have heard in a long time😢
Oh no! I said "mate"! But I can see how that would be misunderstood!
Hello! Please tell us where we can find those turtlenecks on Amazon. Thanks❤❤❤
Diane you look fantastic. You are growing younger. You are like a fine wine getting better with age. You are a testament to being beautiful and mature. You Go Girl !!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Only for the rich is what skin deva sounds like. If for chemo patients i would hope its cost efficient since they are paying for the cost of cancer.
Is it true that part of Tiny Dancer 💃 by Elton is about Miss Gilman here. She looks fantastic. Heathy energetic vital
