Welcome to East of England Green Laning. This channel shows videos of our local and National Green Lane trips in either the Land Rover Discovery 1, Jeep KJ, CFMOTO CFORCE 550 quad bike and the Aprilia Tuareg 660.
Occasionally as well as 4 x 4 trips and the occasional Off Road events in private venues, we will add content on local lanes in the Thetford Forrest area we drive.
As the channel develops we are hoping to add details on navigation systems to help locate green lanes as well as reviews on the gear we have tried out.
Please feel free to comment and subscribe if you enjoy the videos.

You should really stay on your pills….
Show how nice some of the back roads are.
Is road legal and how much approximately is the insurance? Thanks..
@@GrahamEarnshaw-s3u yes, fully road legal. Insuranse for me is about £180
Great video. I have a Cforce 520. It is amazing what they can do. Excellent bit of kit.
Great vid lads, have you had any problems with the 550 and is there anything to look out for with them? Thanks
@@popcornlover948 none at all. She's never missed a beat. Just normal wear and tear parts replaced. As long as you service them well, and swap the belt every 2-3000 miles they are great. Most quads die due to drowning them and poor servicing
Hi been enjoying your videos of the 550 - have to ask how would you rate it as have the chance of a fairly low price one, but not sure if to go for this or a slightly bigger one. Have owned DS650, Raptor 660 in the past so just wander how the CF goes. 6000 miles does show that they last a good while though!
Hi Graham. The CFORCE 550 was the last of the twin locked CF's I believe and although the LSD on the new models works great, I like the separate lockers. If you want to lane and just sit on the minor roads at 50mph, the 550 is perfect. If you want higher road speed you would need something bigger, as the single cylinder 550 will be on about 6900RPM at 60mph (flat out). The other thing is the 550's are registered as L7e and restricted to 90kmh. If you look at newer quads, they are now mainly non road legal or T3 registered (check Can-Am's site). This therefore classes them as a Tractor not a Quadricycle and they are limited by law to about 40mph. You can replace the ECU but as I understand the law, this can only be done at Import or by the manufacturer. Until such time as I can get a bigger L7e variant, I will be sticking with Ginger. Quadzilla are brilliant with parts and the CFMOTO team are brilliant with us as we try to be with them.
I can answer that question. The rider is too tight and runs slicks 😂
Git 🤣
Interesting. I never see many vids of side by sides! Is there a reason? I thought you might be in the know?
Just not as popular in the UK I guess. With tight lanes quads will get you more places. The lane in this video you would nevwr get a SxS down.
@@eastofenglandgreenlaning Thanks for getting back to me. I suppose this is true, but there must be routes that ARE available?
@@Nellyontheland Plenty but it does depend on where you are and what you want to do. We took a SXS on a one day 200 mile green laning trip up to North Norfolk recently. We have a 500 mile Three Counties route that a SXS could do easy and any route a Land Rover can do a SXS can do quicker. We tend to find tight lanes on the quads as they don't see so much traffic. They are also good to RECCE routes for the larger vehicles. I spent two hours in Salisbury a few years back looking for a way for a Expedition Shogun to get through. Great fun.
@@eastofenglandgreenlaning Cheers again. Im still contemplating a side by side as I could also use it on the farm.
Do you have any map of the route?
Not all routes are ours so we do not pass them on unless you have attended a trip with us. Unfortunately UK lanes are constantly under the threat of closure due to damage by a minority of people who do not respect them. For this reason also, we do not pass on gpx files. Each trip we take is reviewed prior to starting and confirmed to have no Temporary, Permanent or seasonal TRO's on the them as well as a recce to confirm the route is sustainable. Currently all the Fen lanes near us are still shut due to the heavy rain and a large part of Thetford is also closed due to the local Mud pluggers damaging the SSSI byways. Its a shame we have to think this way but those who respect the lanes will not mind doing their own research.
Nice edit 🙂
You are nutters 😂 very impressive
What a fantastic weekend.
😂😂😂 i need to get one!! And fair play the commentary is brilliant 😂
It's just so much fun
Can you get through the track there from Heacham beach. Through to castle rising area
No. The byway runs from Heacham South Beach to Lees Caravan Park / Searles in Hunstanton only
英国を救った名機ですね‼️ その機体をかくも大切に維持保存できる英国人のスピリットに拍手👏👏👏👏👏👏
Does the quad have to be road legal to go on these lanes mate
Yes. They are all byways open to all traffic, UCR's or ORPA'S. All require vehicles to be fully road legal.
Hi I've recently bought an old honda big red and am looking for a decent place to get out on it, where is this ? Also do you know any in North Wales
Beautful plane❤️✈️
That was excellent.
We found him. I recon he had a Kip.
The video footage does not show how steep that actually is. Everybody succeeded.
Great weekend had by all. Great camping site #coocoswildcamping
Wondering what your weight, and inseam measurement are for you to just, barely tip toe the bike, with both feet. Thanks!
Hi David, I'm 5' 9" with 29" inside leg. About 13st in weight. I have noticed since I picked up my new bike, with the preload set down I can get both feet touching easily on the ground. Not flat down but enough to manoeuvre the bike. I think the test bike preload must have been set for an elephant before me 🤣
And yes, Adrian does sound like Reg Prescott 🤣🤣
The cover bolts are actually 8mm
Brilliant comment. My friend thinks that for normal potholes, they should be turned upside down.
Looks good fun boys 👍 might have to plan a day out sometime
Nice little bimble, Did near enough the same routes in my Discovery 4 on new year’s day.
I was trying to keep it clean🤣

Some sunny day 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Really lucky to get that close. Wing nearly bopped me on the head 🤣
@@eastofenglandgreenlaning ha ha 🤣 carefully
Such an iconic, beautiful, and victorious plane.
Beautiful
Do you have a gpx file for the route it looks awesome and we are going in January
Unfortunately not as it was not my route and there seems to be no signal anywhere in Wales 🤣. We are back again this year and I can log the route this time as I have downloaded the maps of the area first.
This is the road that only 4WD can do like it's nothing! Very nice video
This one we can do on Enduro bikes quads or 4x4's. The camera flattens it a lot. There is a voluntary restriction on it as the cars have torn it up in the valley, but quads and bikes can get round with out doing damage to the lane.
$ 1 ! rtr
Take my hat off to you lot i found it hard enough on enduro bike , Hahaha
Apart from the physical size of the quads (mines LWB plus box and spare fuel on the side) I think we got off easier than the bikes. I didn't put it in but the bikes went over a few times 🤣
I saw two, one down to the left looked like quite a tumble!
nice click bait. he fell off a rock which maybe was 2 ft high at the most
It was well above sea level🤣
Good stuff 💪💪💪 can anyone recommend app for green lines and byways , what you guys using ?
Any OS or Topo map will show public rights of way, the trick is finding out if they are legal to ride. This can be done by contacting Highways for UCR/ORPA or local Councils for Byways. This can be confusing as some are managed by both. Some local authorities publish their definitive map online but not all, in which case you will need to visit their offices to view the map. You are not permitted to photograph it but you can transfer information to your own maps. An alternative is to join a laning organisations like All Terrain UK or Glass who have their own mapping software ware. This will help to identify lanes but is web based so not an app. I personally use Outdoor Active or Memory Maps but OS and a few others make apps. Once I plan a route on it, I cross check against ATUK's Smart Trail and then my Local authorities web site to confirm no new Traffic Regulatory Orders (TRO's) have been issued and there are no seasonal restrictions on it. Once done, outdoor Active saves it as a route and I am able to navigate it using my smart phone or tablet. If you are new to laning, ATUK offer newbie days and online training sessions to help you stay legal. Hope that helps.
@@eastofenglandgreenlaning thank you so much for all this information that really helped 👏👏👍
Just my jimny just need a club to join I'm in filey
How long did it take you to do ? We are going in 2 weeks
Two of the Can Am's overheated so we had to sort them out so we were on the track for a couple of hours but the lane would not normally take long on a quad. Easter Weekend just gone. Epic fun
@@eastofenglandgreenlaning aww fair as a can am owner check behind the radiator front will look clean but back be clogged
@@xtp1000 🤣 it was grass and mud from a huge puddle on the previos lane. Luckily there was a garage with pressure washer less then a mile away so they got it cleaned. Cforce never gave me any problems👍

Walsingham mate. There are four Fords that are all easy most of the year.
Hi have you got GPX file for the route you did??
I don't publish the routes but they are all listed on ATUK's forum if you are members.
Hi. Just recently bought a disco 2. Local to Norwich. Fancy meeting up one weekend if you still do green laning?
I'm out and about most weeks in Cambs, Suffolk and Norfolk. My Facebook group is a private group but you can catch me on ATUK's group page as Lee Enfield. In fact we are running this event in total during July. Three days from Hunstanton to Woodbridge. About 200 mile run staying at camp sites.
@@eastofenglandgreenlaning I like the sound of it. I’m gonna do thetford this weekend probably Sunday if you fancy it mate?
Unfortunately it’s got so much damage it’s TROd until July.
SCC are due to inspect it this week as well as Barnham slip which has now been trashed as well. In fact traffic is now diverting off piste through the woods. You cannot educate stupid unfortunately.
@@eastofenglandgreenlaning It’s a shame. They need to focus on catching the idiots rather than closing the lanes after they destroy them. They don’t shut the M25 because of speeding.
muito bom meus parabéns
Ainda bem que você gostou.
Good video I live in sutton ely and looking to go out green laning with people as I'm not to familiar with the area I ribe a dirt bike
I shoot at Sutton as well as lane around there in the summer. I also go out with a lot of ATUK members locally but have a few quad mates from various groups as well, in fact we are planning a Bike / Quad/ Car weekend trip from Thetford to Hunstanton area once we are out of lockdown. E mail Derek at ATUK if you want to get in on the action.
