Hi Chris. In 1983 I visited Kailua and toured Poinciana manor. In 2015 I bought a corner unit there. I’m very happy with it, most days I ride a bike 8 mins to the beach park, all th3 maintenance is taken care of, the latest increase in fees is not too bad. I think people should realize that you can buy into the lifestyle for less than a million. Also, I know several real estate agents locally and they are all really nice, just like you. Do you know any cafe owners or local party givers? If so could I ask you to let them know about my free music act, which can be viewed on UA-cam vintage solo Harmony? The supermajority Dems, like in Ca are turning this place into a shithole. Homeless, crime, and a State that wants to control every aspect of your life. High taxes due to incredible inefficient state government that is way over bloated and wastes money on things that need not be run by state government. Jones Act. To name few. As a local who spent a few years on the mainland "island fever" is really homesickness and distance from friends with the failed expectation that living on a tropical island is "paradise". Summer is hot and humid, bugs everywhere, traffic, public toilets that look like biohazard tests, beaches unusable due to homeless camps. Nice weather is about the only thing going for this place.

I got talked into living out here in Oahu by military husband Us both thinking he would have time to spend together before deployment Not really at all I've been stuck here and would've already left, but I brought my dogs out there and I'm trying to get them out of here as well I have Autism, so making a bunch of friends and doing all of those things is really hard for me Just been isolated from my family and everything I ever knew and loved for over a year Hawaii is great if you are prepared for it I was NOT prepared to be left on this island by myself and have a car breakdown and then to get my dog sick with no way to know how to get them to the vet It can Heaven to some And Hell for others I had some Heaven But, now I just feel island fever and trapped Just me being honest

The family with 2 kids, cars and $2 million or more is a shrinking market segment. Singles or couples with cash can buy a great condo in Kailua for 600 to 800k, live great lifestyle with no car, rent out 1bd 1 ba to cover fees (high) and taxes (low). No aircon needed, power $150 pm. Free beach, all shops and services including medical, walk or bike. Bus to hnl and Waikiki if you must. Waikiki condos are also a good lifestyle, a bit more hectic tho. The average price quoted in video is higher because of newish condos built 10 yrs ago, but older ones are very good. I came here from NZ and really dig this place.

I returned to Hawaii with a newly minted Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1955. Looking at the job availability, I turned around and moved to Los Angeles.

It is a blue state that is not prone to change regardless of improprieties, scandal, monopolies of utilities and commerce (SERVCO, electric, etc.). The state keeps voting for the same people their parents voted for regardless of the whole place falling apart (the true definition of insanity). It is NOT a business friendly state. We are doomed with lowest-bidder state/city shoddy projects, and politicians with large back pockets ready to filled by the next big donor, lobbyist, or family member. Liberal policies that are making democrats of yesteryear turn in their graves. Education sucks, law enforcement have their hands tied, or are not willing to enforce laws, yet keep making new ones. I'm 60+ and have seen changes here in the past 15 years that made me plan to leave and die elsewhere, leaving my relatives in their graves behind. Hawaiian leaders are just angry with no plan and play the blame game with no solutions for the 21st century and beyond. How can Hawaiians be given Hawaii back when we don't make education a priority for our keiki to survive in a progressive world, and only live in the past where our only trump card is the blame game? We will end up a footnote in human existence. Hawaii should have a thriving economy with tourism, trade/commerce with the east, its strategic military location, unique ethnic past, and a race of people and culture that made it their home before others arrived. So sad, but I'm outta here too. Too old to fight. Good luck...

The only reason why hawaii is so hard to lived by is because of it's high and expensive standard of living! Hawaii is only good for those who can afford to meet the standard of living!

I can afford to live in Hawaii because I have a small mortgage. I just wanna leave because of the boredom.

I've had designer pieces and knockoffs of luxrul . I ultimately prefer the knockoffs because I'm not worried about scratching it, preserving it, or someone stealing it.

I think there also points you didn't mention like lots of homeless in urban areas, crime like car break ins, drugs, traffic, and noise in urban areas. You also see a trend of people move out of urban areas to suburbs and more rural areas.
