It is a C100, of course, not a C10 as I said at the beginning of the clip. Sorry for the confusion.

Both sound great I got a D18 ge it's well balanced ,also got an 87 D28 , MJ Franks legend Dread ,, Larravee and a Richard Meyryk Rhossili ,use d addario phospher bronze not tried 80 / 20 bronze .ernie ball bit underwhelming
Sehr sympathisch! Man spürt deine Begeisterung!
@@kd_kissed Danke!! 🙏🏻
Sehr schön 🤩
@@kschimmer Danke 🙏🏻
What are the best guitars you own would you say?
@@DomCAFC there is no „best“ really, because every guitar has its on special character. But if I had to chose one, it would be my Martin D-18 GE Custom Amberburst or my J45 Maple by Blazer and Henkes. Have a great day!!
Am I right in saying the Martin is over double the cost of the atkin? Does make sense that the Martin is better in that case but Atkin is superb
New subscriber here, really enjoyed your video and the joy you play with. Atkin guitars are simply incredible. Hard to choose which one I like more here, but I think I like the OM a tad more.
There's less between them tonally than I thought they'd be.
@@trevorfromengland what did you expect?
I'd buy whichever I could get the best deal on!!
a very good comparison video! By your enthusiasm, i can see you're in love with guitars! I own an Atkin L36 and am fascinated by the brand, might just buy me an OM in the near future!
I a bit surprised how much better the Martin sounded over the Atkin.
Hard to beat a great Martin 😊
The Atkin sounds very nice especially for plucking or fingerstyle. But for strumming and over all tone, it's going to be the Martin for me. Nice review! New subscriber here. 👍💯
@@natomaranan6385 thank you!! 🫶🏼
Franticek Furch. I owned a roundshoulder dread some years ago.
"Porsche GT 2 RS, Walter Röhrl Edition" :-)
@@Joe-m6p6b 😁
@inlovewithguitars Handgerissen, versteht sich!
Gefällt mir sehr. Schickes Gerät! 👍
No Eastman or Sigma or Epiphone inspired by Gibson comparison? ;-)
No junk, just good guitars..
Great sounding guitar. It really rings for a mahogany guitar.
@@anthonydaves4879 Thank you, it really does!
Did you also try the rosewood 37 OM and the D 37 before buying the essentials? Grüße aus Berlin.
Hey Joe, I tried all of them and they are all amazing in there own way. Generally speaking there often is something magical both to a well built Mahogany Dreadnought fokussing the Dread sound and a good voiced Rosewood OM opening up the more mid focussed orchestra model body shape. Of course, there's always exceptions to that rule - the particular Mahogany OM in my video is incredible, absolutely outstanding.
@@inlovewithguitarsagreed. I’ve always preferred mahogany dreads and rosewood OMs. That’s what I currently have with 2 Eastman models. I’m wanting to buy an Atkin model asap
I like them both.
Sounds great!
Thanks, man!
What does it sell for ??
I think new they are around 6000 Dollars or Euros.
How would you compare Furch to Atkin? I've seen your review of the Atkin OM, i have a Furch Vintage 3 OM SR and I'm considering getting an Atkin OM. i know yhe are different models, but in general, how would you compare Furch to Atkin? Thanks, and btw, you pronouce Furch a lot better than me 👍
@@raulands A general comparison is not that easy, but I try my best: Furch tends to be more modern and european sounding which means more balance and note to note separation and meatier trebles. Atkin ist more vintage inspired, more bass, more warmth, very immediate response.
@inlovewithguitars great response! Thanks!
Can't hear you, mate!
Might be a problem on your device, I tried it with my laptop and my phone - it worked very well on both!
@@Joe-m6p6b yeeeeeees!!
@@inlovewithguitars At the 31th If Oktober she will arrive, hehehe..
Great review, thanks . I'm considering either this one or the Atkin OM 37, maybe the Martin OM 28, too, as they are more or less the same price.
Sounds fabulous. What years did they make this particular model from with the baked top? And is it Adirondack as well? Thanks.
@@davidb0064 Thank you David! Gibson introduced this Model in 2016 I believe. It is Sitka, which is historically correct since Gibson made the first Hummingbirds in the 60s with Sitka as well. There is something special about baked Sitka. Atkin uses it a lot and seems to add some noticable dryness to the tone.
@@inlovewithguitars thanks for the reply!
Did you already play the Custom Shop Expert Authentics with truss rods or an Authentic model?
I owned the Authentic D-18 1937 which was incredible, full and sweeeet at the same time. The best Martin I ever played for sure. I only sold it because I purchased a Blazer & Henkes. To me these guys made the best guitars on the planet!
@@inlovewithguitars who?? blazer and whaaaaaaat
MFG guitars from Florida, John Garon...;-)
Sehr geil, mein Freund. Hast einen ähnlich guten Geschmack wie meinereiner... ✍️👍🎸I I Sold my D-18 GE around 2012. Big mistake. But then I luckily bought a fantastic Martin CS 21-11 Adi/Madgascar which sounds very magical. Next week I get a new CS OOOO-18 Adi/sinker for my birthday. Vorfreude ist die schönste Freude...
I LOVE this Hummingbird model's colours, they're SO classy. The standard model I don't fancy, at all.
Yes, I agree, these colours are so so so beautiful ❤
One more in the choir - the orange-brown caramel is a wonder. And the p-guard is a whole level over the Std. as well.
Yes, they are charismatic guitars. Petty had a Bird with a strange neck - but his main acoustic Gibson was a vintage Dove, , , I even think it had the Tune-O-Matic bridge. Hi from Copenhagen
I'm in love with that OM! Thank you for sharing
@@Danny_Salad So am I - thanks for watching!!
I ordered my one (and only) Custom Martin 0000-18 in April 2024; three months in to the 10-12 months wait!! I asked for Sinker, but they had none then… still going to be super content. Got 14 fret 1932 Shade Top (officially called the Chris Hillman Burst)… I understand the addiction part. But once I get it, gotta just be thankful a dream came true and know there are more out there. It’s like getting married, of course there, and it would be nice to ‘have’ them all, but you may miss out on the one you got by seeking ‘better’ hahaha. Enjoy man!! Great playing btw!!!
One day you may kiss the bride, my friend! 👍 My CS adi/ sinker bride OOOO-18 will be kissed by me on next thursday. I can't wait...💕🎸💋👂🙏🥁📯⏳
Great choice.
Thanks for featuring us! Nice playing
Wow, thanks for watching and thanks for making great picks! 🫶
Wonderful instrument, owned one myself ;-). You better keep it, mate. And yes, I agree: one of the best guitars for flatpicking and strumming, but less so for fingerpicking...just my 2 cent. Should be mentioned that the Vintage is ultra-light. Kind regards from Duesseldorf...(BTW: Beautiful version of "Wildflowers")
Thank you so much, my friend!!
They all sound great! Just curious...what are you using for audio recording?
Thank you. I run a Beyerdynamic Fox straight into my iPhone.
I have a D18GE 2006 that I really love. But...I have been wanting an Essential D. Great sounding guitar.
Thanks for your comparisons, it's an important service and they show one thing above all: it is damn fascinating for you. so infectious to just watch you do this. I agree with you: the Atkin has bark and the Martin rings. Your Ambertone is a guitar for life, it will never leave your side.
Thank you so much, my friend!! 🫶🏼
I agree, Danke.
Both sound amazing! What are your overall thoughts on them both having lived with them? Is there one that stands out for you if you had to buy just one? Also looks like the they're not making d-18s with Adirondack tops anymore, have you played a standard d-18 and got any thoughts about those to add? Cheers!
Thanks, mate! The D-18 Standard is one of the best values out there (since it has been revamped in 2012). I have played at least 5 or 6 of these and they were all killer and had a very comfortable neck (the High Performance Taper). The Sitka gives them a somehow deeper and loser bass response. The GE is a bit tighter, clearer in the bass, has more meat in the trebles. To me, the Standard is a great, great strummer, but the GE might be better for lead and Flatpicking. Both great guitars for sure. And both sound surprisingly great when fingerpicked proberly.
Look for the Gruhn models Adi Sinker or the 21 Gruhn series with guatemalen rosewood.
No comparison - the Atkin by far.
@paulshrubb2734 Wow, just goes to show how subjective these things are. For me, the Martin is streets ahead. But totally respect your opinion.
Thanks! Alister Atkin just got the formular pretty right, doesn't he?
Great video, and - I think - a great advert for Martin!
Thank you - man, these Martins sing
I wanted to like the Atkin more than the Martin, but I didn't. They are both really lovely but if I was going to leave a store with one of them, it would be the Martin.
Martins have something to them, that is really awesome, I agree 😊
I played an Atkin Here in Berlin and it was fantastic. A bit different sounding than my ex Martin Custom OM GE but as punchy as the Martin. You need both! ✍️👍🤔😇
You name it my friend!! 😬😂
Ja, da ist schon was dran.

Thank you so much, my friend!
sounds fantastic as well ;) man I can only have on guitar nad thats my martin d18 at the moment, but I love the gibson sound here as well.
Great choice - the D-18 is my favorite guitar model on the planet!
@@inlovewithguitars yes mine too, even though I ordered a sj200 a few days ago which also blew my mind...tough call
@@kalleblomkvist4173 Sweet - the king of flattops is hard to beat. Although it is not easy to find a really superb one ;-)
@@inlovewithguitars yes but not with the new original series
Yes, Gibson is on a good path with their acoustics again 😊
sounds great! hard to believe you selling it.
Thanks, mate! We can't have them all, right?
