(silent cooking) Savory Sticky Rice for LNY

Sticky rice can be difficult to work with, but this came together nicely at the end once the grains were separated into the sauce (and then stuck together again) #food #cooking #cookingathome #cookingvideo #chinesefood
(silent cooking) Gluten Free “Dumplings”
Переглядів 26 місяців тому
Making Chinese dishes gluten free is quite the challenge! Dumplings are usually wrapped in little puffy gluten pockets and the dumpling fillings typically have soy sauce. Here, I relied on salt and five spice powder for the filling with a hint of green onion. From a beta test, quickly learned I had to pre-cook the filling first (unwrapped), or else the rice paper would disintegrate too much whi...
(silent cooking) salted pork bone soup
Переглядів 46 місяців тому
A little bit of active time, a lot of passive time to create a pork bone soup with a milky broth. Started with salting the pork bones for a few days, then dropping them into a hot pot to get a brown sear. Top with boiling water and let it boil for… hours and hours. #food #cooking #cookingathome #cookingvideo
(silent cooking) not quick but easy quinoa salad
Переглядів 126 місяців тому
Seeking tasty ways to eat more vegetables and grains and fill up on less red meat. Feels like I’m an adult trying to trick a child (but just me) into eating vegetables. I’m not averse to vegetables, but gosh it’s easier to just reverse sear a piece of steak and be done with prep. #food #cooking #cookingathome #homecook
(silent cooking) Recreating a favorite - Pulpo a las brasas

There is a type of person who goes to Costco and gets excited when spotting only 2 packages left of wild octopus from Spain, having never spotted octopus like this at Costco before. I am that person. Immediately, I knew I had to recreate a dish we enjoyed in CDMX last year - a single crispy octopus leg over a bed of even crispier potatoes. This took much longer to cook than I anticipated (the b...
(silent cooking) mochi rolled in black sesame

The box of Mochiko will recommend a microwave approach to cooking mochi but I’ve tried that previously with poor results. Found a different recipe online that involves steam the mochi separately from the sugar water, then combining them. Mochi came out softer than expected … must try again. #food #mochi #homecooking

how do feel about the 4 person? would yo have gotten the 6 person instead?

4 person is a tight fit for 4 people, if you want to be comfortable. We usually use for 2, so plenty of room for us

Is this the Pinnacle or the Watoga? The website lists the dimensions of the Pinnacle, assembled, at 72″W x 72″D x 75 - 3/8″H. Is this true to size? I'm trying to fit it in a space in the backyard. Are you liking yours? Pros/Cons?

We purchased from Costco - called the “Morgan”. It sounds close to the dimensions of the Pinnacle (footprint is roughly 6ft by 6ft). Pros - convenient to have a sauna accessible at home, easy to turn on/off. Cons - we don’t use it all that often in the summer. It comfortably seats 2, but we’ve gotten cozy with 4 before.

Hi Michelle, Did you just purchased this one recently? I just purchased one since December but got it a couple days ago. I saw you have 3 metal bracket instead of 2. Did you purchased more of it or it came with the sauna?

We got this in Jan 2023. It came with all the brackets. We bought some extra nails to help make it easier to set up the walls. Have fun with yours!

    • @limichelle21

Nice! With 2 people, I’d say the sauna itself took 1 day, installing heating element another half day, and then another day doing the electrical wiring

love it! how has it held up since then? any issues with usability? are you happy with the experience? Asking because im very closing to pulling the trigger on an Almost Heaven sauna myself.

We love it! We’ve put 86:30 hours on it since we got it, and so far no issues with usability. A few tweaks we made: attached foam padding to the exterior glass door and on top of sauna to help retain heat, added in a fan through one of the holes to help with interior air circulation.
