To be fair, for a first whack at something, you did a great job. Tge instructing chap, putting his hands over the bar etc while telling you what to do should’ve been ignored thoroughly and made to leave the scene because he’s dangerous to have around and you don’t want that on your conscience… Not only that but he also seemed thoroughly unpleasant. Just a bit of a safety tip: if and when possible, try to hold the saw where the kickback arrestor will work, should the worst happen. Don't take any of this personally of course, it’s your very first go and you got it where it needed to be. Also, if you want to learn more, there’s Buckin’ Billy Ray Smith (a great bloke if a bit cheesy 😀) and there’s also Scott from The Essential Craftsman with a few chainsaw videos packed with good advice. Oh, yeah, one more thing to be wary of…. It gets really addictive, the wielding of a chainsaw and it’s possible to look out of your window one morning and question the lack of visible trees in your garden…. 😀 Ask me how I know 😀

Burning is highly underutilized. It takes care of the plants, and any seeds that are laying on the surface. I've got some beans growing in my garlic patch right now. Once they're done, that whole section of the bed is getting done crispy style before the garlic goes in.

I did something similar to that. I made a hitch with the winch on it. There was a steep gravel boat ramp into my favorite fishing hole. My 2wd truck wouldn't be able to climb out of there empty let alone pulling the boat up out of the water. I put a bigger wheel on the jack and winched the boat in and out of the water.

Torching is effective but weeds will return eventually. I did problem areas and fences lines on 1.5 acres and it lasted about twice as long as round up but also cost a whole tank of propane. So pros and cons like everything

man I sure do miss having my case 580L xtendahoe around. Once picked my one ton up with a chain and then set it on blocks in order to change a clutch. I have done lawn mower blades and oil changes a like. I always put something like center bloks blocks under the tires of on jack stands and let it down on the support if getting under it. But Reaching the arms under no big. At worst case I scrape up my arms before I shit my pants. Lol

I work at a school that has three cows, and part of my job is taking care of them. They all came from herds, and I have been working to make them friendly so they can interact with the kids. One thing for sure, they are like big dogs, and because I always feed them treats like apples, bananas, and carrots, they come when I call them.

Sugihara and Tsumura have been manufacturing light bars for some time made of tool steel. Stihl and Husqvarna have only been in the light bar market recently. I purchased a Sugihara 20“ bar for my MS361 years ago and the saw no longer nose dived to the ground when setting is down. With the 20“ Stihl bar the tip would lay in the ground. Great review!

Thanks for the review. I call this the perfect all around saw. I bought the original 550xp just before a big ice storm hit and caused us to have to clear up about 7 acres of damage on our property. The saw was amazing. I cut almost daily for about 3 weeks. I could not have been happier! After 11 years, I still use it. I got a good deal on the Mark 2 and it is ready to go into action. I keep thinking about selling the old one, but haven't decided, it is still a great running saw.
