Josh’s Landy Life
Приєднався 26 бер 2023
Thank you for taking the time to visit my channel, come on a journey with me as I breath some much needed life back to my old LandRover Defender 110. The goal is to get the LandRover in good working order, get rid of all the rusty bits and turn this epic old truck in to the awesome adventure vehicle I’ve always dreamed of owning. I will be posting videos of every step I do with the Landy and everything in between. So sit back and enjoy.
SECOND HAND SPARE WHEEL CARRIER GOING ON THE DEFENDER (Scotland Prep)
In this video I have purchased a second hand spare wheel carrier off Facebook Market place, which I believe to be Mantec one but unsure.
In the video I strip the wheel carrier down and grease up the pivot points and also have to drill hole in a perfectly good peace of my Landy.
I never claim to be a mechanic and have never fitter a spear wheel carrier before, so I'm working it out as I go.
I hope you enjoy this video.

Переглядів 2959 годин тому
A quick video this one. I have made this little video because I could find a video on UA-cam of how to replace the rubber ring on the filler neck of my Defender. so I thought I'd make one for people like who would want to know.

NEW PACE INJECTOR HARNESS + A CATCH CAN GOING IN THE LAND ROVER DEFENDER
Переглядів 675Місяць тому
Hi everyone, in this video I'm going to install the mods I wanted to before we went to the Peak District. I'm having a go at installing a new PACE AUTOMOTIVE LTD TD5 injector harness. This is to stop / slow down the oil creep that likes to make it's way down the injector harness, through the wiring harness and to the ECU which in the long run will course problems with the running of the truck. ...

We load up the Landy and hit the road, making our way to a little mining village called Castleton in the Peak District. WOODWORKING IN THE LAND ROVER DEFENDER (RUSH PREP BEFORE OUR TRIP)

In this video we are getting ready for our little trip to the Peak District, by quickly adding some home comforts into the back of the 110. I have ago at what I would call joinery and make a wooden unit on the left hand side, in the back of the Landy. All the materials were recycled and found just lying around our work shop so this little project didn't cost me a penny. Thank you for taking the...

FITTING A BIKE RACK TO MY LANDROVER DEFENDER
Переглядів 1,1 тис.3 місяці тому
In this video we have stubbled across a cool retro bike rack which is extremely heavy duty, and a breeze to fit. Unfortunately the make is unknow to me, and it has a couple of down sides. One being that you have to remove your bikes and fold the rack out of the way if you are to want access in the boot of your Landy. And second, I think this rack will only work if you DO NOT have a spear wheel ...

TD5 engine rebuild after new head gasket (Land Rover Defender)
i bought a back door for one of mine brand new am sure it was 140 quid was about two years ago think it was off ebay, for the top mount make a plate to go inside i used some flat bar as mine ripped all the metal out with the weight of my 34 inch wheel just a thought for you
Yeah it’s definitely a good idea to reinforce the door. I’ll definitely be doing that when I get a new door 👍
@@JoshsLandyLifehi I meant the top hinge on the tub my bolts pulled through the ally and the cappings so I put a plate behind it
Spare wheel is with little Bessy if you want to use it..I took wording off of it x
SPEAR wheel?
spellings not my strongest point
Big Sands campsite at Gairloch, brilliant place to camp, check it out.
Thanks for the recommendation, will defiantly have a look.
Loving the content. Get yourself a Trasharoo or similar now.
Did it stop the water leaking through, or just reduce the amount coming in?
Just reduce it. I thought had cured it for a while then the dreaded drip started again.
Nice video. I wish I could afford a roamer, its sounds like a grand kit
I've got a MaxxRaxx - 5 bike version. Used it for many years with our D3, with an adaptor that went on to a swan neck tow ball (rather than the back plate you have). You can (could) buy various adapter plates. There was also a version that you had a bend in the upright, to cater for rear spare wheel. They are designed to be able to pivot down in order to allow boot to open: if you remove the upper pin (at the bottom), then the whole will pivot away from the car. The bottom of the square section vertical part should have a 45 degree end, which will limit the extent of the pivot. Ours also has a ratchet strap that runs over the cradles and clamps the top tubes securely. It's been fine with my fancy carbon road bikes We also have two sway straps, that should be used to connect the end of the rack to the top of a tailgate (or the rack / top gutter on a defender). It does really help lock everything up solid, rather than rattling about. Especially when lots of bikes on the back, ie weight.
Ok good to know, as I’m hoping to use it soon. I’ll have to give it another look. Thanks for getting in touch. 👍
@@JoshsLandyLife i've just spotted another option - Thule that tilts (albeit on the new Defender) ua-cam.com/video/yFA8IrhTCNo/v-deo.html
I knew a guy who used to say “Jack it up under the fuel cap and drive a new car in.” lol 😊😂👍🏻🙏🦘
Nice to see another defender channel
My Maer chassis is on the next truck from Krakow 😊😊😊❤#dorset. #td5110
ouch needs chassis sorting 7.5K i would not have bought it for 4K damn that means mine would fetch twice that lol keep ongoing i love these and will never sell mine.
Bring the music down a little in the mix.
Yeah, good shout 👍
The burble followed by the turbo whistle sounds awesome…wonder what difference it would make on my V8 Disco 🤔
I can only imagine it would sound mega 🤤
Your son has you sussed. What a lovely lad.
Great, what the measure to do the hole?
I will have a look and get back to I can’t remember off the top of my head. 👍
10/10
Omg wow love it keep it up 😊
Good sound but it’s even better if you straight pipe the whole thing and get rid of the small back box. Great video and Happy Father’s Day to you. Cheers Brian
Fitted one to my 300tdi 110, sounds better without being too noisy, mine was cheap from Britpart and is stainless to boot!
Great to see somebody else do the mods im thinking of doing right before i do them! i have exactly the same spec landy as you, same year, colour, interior etc even down to the same tyres! about to get them swapped to BFG's tho. Great video, good to seee the lad getting involved
i even bought the pipe, just waiting to install it. is there much difference to volume in the cab or is it mainly outside you hear it until you give it some gas? some driving videos of the difference would be great
That’s a really good idea, I’ll think about putting a little video together on it. Also the noise isn’t any worse then before, it a little more droney then previous but it worth it for the whistle haha. Thanks for commenting 👍
I’m so pleased I can help out, it definitely worth doing bud. 👍
Sounds great!
Best mod I ever did to my TD5, well that an a remap 😉 it’s the whistle of the turbo ticking over that does it for me 😎
Can’t fault that for a £70 pipe!
Absolute winner 🏆

Inspired me to think about taking my defender 110 to Matlock, it’s about 1 hour 45 min from Manchester, might be a nice day out with the fiancée, still need to take the car off road ahaha been a bit of a pavement prowler since I’ve owned it
Look up Boris the defender. He runs a Jackery Explorer 500 and a Alpicool fridge. We got the same and it’s good for 36 hours. With no charge up. But if you got a solar panel it would last longer. The fridge fits nicely in the cub box space.. Hopefully this will help. Brian.
That’s a great shout thanks Brian I have seen the set up on Boris you’re talking about and that’s what I’m aspiring to get, his set up is awesome. Thanks for getting in touch buddy 👍
@@JoshsLandyLife here’s a list of what we can get in it for a landy weekend. 6 small beers 🍻 1 pint of milk 2 steaks 🥩 4 burgers 🍔 8 sausage small cheeses 🧀 bacon 🥓 2 small wines, ham all of this is debagg and maybe a little more. Keep the videos up I have watched from the start. As for making the mattress better we put a eurohike self inflating mat. It’s about an inch or so think. Brian.
What about a thin 100Ah Lithium battery with an isolator. You don’t need to spend £100s on a DC/DC for a dual battery setup. Wire up all accessories etc to the Lithium. Great vid mate. 👍🏻🙏🦘
You could do with a couple of Anker Battery banks and a power station with solar. It depends on the weather but when I camped in Aberderon, Wales I ran a 12v compressor fridge for 4 days with some solar, temps were coldish though and in a hot vehicle a fridge will hammer the battery as the compressor cycles more often. If you need any input or advice on a power station I would be happy to help if I can.
That’s really good to know buddy I think the solar is a good route to go down. I have also been looking at these power stations like Jackery and that.
Cracking video, thank you. Was up in the peaks today, surprise View and Stanage Edge. Went out with friend of mine that just picked up a Freelander 2. Weather was wet lol but a good half day spent either way and a nice drive out. I am lucky to live just 1 hour away from that area.
Get yourself a step ladder that fits on your roof rack. It makes the unzipping and folding up a lot easier. Also, add a length of light rope to the zipper. Your sleeping gear, pillows etc can be folded up in the tent provided the tent is aired and dry. After a few trips away it won’t take long to raise and lower the tent. However, NEVER forget to dry it out or it will get mildewed and be very unpleasant. Enjoy. 👍🏻🙏🦘
There brilliant ideas, I will definitely be trying some of those thanks Graham
good to see the KADAI out of its box, get some sausages cooking on it 😋
What made you pick the Richard chassis? I’m thinking of doing a similar project and wondering what swayed when comparing options?
I have a few friends that have used them in the past and only said good things about them, they don’t leave Galv residue in the hole and threads. The quality of work is on point. 👌
YRM galvanized body cappings are mega dear, mine were like yours, took them off, shotblasted and had them galvanized, good as new
sighs with longing at the way those pins came out.
I have something similar, maxxraxx. Great bit of kit
Good find. Maybe fit a U bolt to take the slap out? I’d rather hear the diesel than that music. 🙉👍🏻🙏🦘 Cheers.
Yeah good idea and the music is always a controversial thing when making videos 😅
Got mine set up over the back door too. With a drop down awning it gives me plenty of space.
All the best on your adventurers enjoy😂 Dave🏴
Looks great and you finished off in the Cromer cliff top carpark we used to eat our McDonald's in before we moved to Scotland a couple of months ago - AND today we bought a 110!!
I love your enthusiasm 😊
looking forward to following you on your adventures 🥰
You installed it exactly the way it should be; that is, over the rear door. Now that area can become the kitchen. I don’t know why so many others put the RTT sideways? 🤷♂️ Never put the awning up without guying it down. If it’s windy have someone holding it or it will end up over the roof. Now you can fabricate a drop down table for the rear door. Enjoy 👍🏻🙏🦘
😍🇧🇭🙏🏼🌹
Nice grenadiers
Awesome video, where the chassis are from , Richards , Maer or something else ?
It’s a Richards Chassis.
@@JoshsLandyLifeare you going to keep it as is , stripped , or perhaps epoxied later and paint ?

Excellent video. I’m currently cutting the chassis bolts off my Y reg 110. This video helps!
I’ve got exactly the same defender 110 as yours. Same green same Y reg. same chassis rot! I’m in the process of getting all the chassis bolts off and electricals before doing a body lift. Learning as I go. Dorset based 👍🏻
