TAHITI French Polynesia
Tahiti, the Black Pearl, is the largest island in French Polynesia, located in the central part of the Pacific Ocean. It is high and mountainous with beautiful surrounding coral reefs. The island consists of two round portions centered on volcanic mountains and connected by a short isthmus. The northwestern portion is known as Tahiti Nui, the smaller southeastern portion is known as Tahiti Iti. The island is encircled by a main road, but the southeastern half of Tahiti Iti is accessible only by boat or on foot. Tahiti's landscape features black sand beaches, lush rainforests, rivers and waterfalls. Best time for a visit is from april to october.
