The game should have a setting so that as you run out of fuel while sustaining your speed, the engine should sputter, backfire and generally begin hating life before it ultimately runs out of fuel.

try using gridmap, not sure if you can keep the cars from spinning out but at least you wont hit a rail every 3 seconds. you also wont run out of road. also there are dragster mods which have incredibly tough tires which I have gotten to around 3 or 4k mph
