great start! was getting stuck on the weight tool not applying; seems newer versions of C4D need to use the weight manager and keep the skin deformers on to work, as shown here ua-cam.com/video/KuugzL-cpfU/v-deo.html
what does the freeze transformation do? is that really needed? doesnt seem to be the case.
hello thank you for this tutorial but I have a problem. By doing shift C I don't see reset PSR. how can I manage this??
you dont need that. a better workflow i just to align the axis of the wheels and joints already before or while creating, then this does not to be reset via that command.

what about the brakes? Cars in games have visible brakes.
Yeah definitely need an updated workflow for brakes to be added
I use the character tool in C4D. It has a "car-rig" preset that does it. @@123omygod
breaks are tricky, they need to be seperate because they dont rotate like the wheel but use the same y rotation.

This is a great tutorial! I followed it with success. I ran into a couple things I'll need to figure out. 1. The model I'm using also has doors and a hood in it's skeleton, and they're not rotating with the body in control rig. I need to figure out how to get them to stick with the body. 2. As I followed along some of my controls were oriented a different way. For instance, my wheels are turning (left and right) by dragging the control arrow forward and back instead of left and right. They still work but I should figure out how to switch that up.
OMG man, it is so painful watching you… 1. You can fill weights with one klick. 2. If you really like to paint weights with brush, you don’t have to zoom out, you can just make brash size bigger by holding middle buttons and drag. 🫣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for your advice! I have tried the method you mentioned before, as well as increasing the brush size. However, for this particular model, my PC freezes each time I do so. This was the only way to get away with it 😅

Hi, thanks for the tutorial. I tried it and rig works well. How you manage to add different materials (body,glass, wheels etc.) to the car mesh in UE? Whatever i tried, is just one mesh only and not the different parts and also this only mesh has one material slot
Im glad that you found my tutorial useful , try to apply different materials to the car parts inside cinema 4d (standard materials with different random colors) then export the fbx from c4d to unreal , you should be able to apply new materials inside UE , let me know if it works ;)
@@achrafouammou hi thanks aswell for the very helpful tutorial! i had the same problem with the materials when i used octane materials. with C4D standard materials it worked !
