finished cleaning brass and de-rusting still needs work, one tooth tip off ,some dampers need to be done, the geneva stop needs repair of male part. notice the green end stone. the jewel that was there was cracked, it was a faceted green garnet (tsavorite). i don't know if it was original, but i replaced it with a new faceted tsavorite. sourced from Pakistan. contrary to popular belief the orig...

was attributed to Langdorff, but i am sure it is not , if it was the date would be scratched on the left endcap., it is not the 3 control levers are wrought iron with brass tips extending out. i believe it is from Henri Joseph Lecoultre

Sounds like a music box should ❤
coming from you ,that means a lot.
Beautiful wood pecker. We see this bird in our yard and some of them are quite big. I also notice they are attracted to the sound of a nice music box 😉.
For sale?

Great tone. Really like the resonance.
thank you for the appreciation
Wayde, this lovely bright box has two tunes which I have on my Ducommun-Girod, s/n 14123, ca. 1839. One is a waltz which I can't name (no. 3 on both our boxes) and the other is La Cachucha from Le Diable Boitreux by J. Coralli, 1836. (Tune no. 4 on both our boxes!). This is the first time I've heard La Cachucha on another box!
hi tony ,happy new year, i have La Cachucha on this box also ua-cam.com/video/I3I4COypw0A/v-deo.html
FYI this is one I restored for David Pay - still sounds great.
Nice example Wayde, a lot of potential here but there seems to be a problem with the bass leads so best of luck! I'm fairly sure it's a Ducommun Girod BTW.
Paul why do you think there is a problem with the bass leads , i have had the comb off they look fine. they ring true no stuck leads there are just 3 dampers that are retracted too far back to actuate. i will get to them soon.
@@wayderoxbury8726 Just that the bass is way out of tune, Maybe a few of the leads have been replaced, they are not heavy enough.
and yes i know that i have to re-do a few dampers!
Badel/ Henriot? Really great sounding box.
Didn't read description. I have heard all these arrangements before but this box just has a special aura about it.
thank you this is my 3rd Badel they all sound very good @@ptmusicalboxes
Fcuk this box has some spirit - Have you read Larry Karps take on François?
thank you Mark. it is very spiritual. is Larry Karps take on Francois in the MBSI journal?
@@wayderoxbury8726 Yes, it makes for a very interesting read, & I pretty much agree with the majority of Larry’s words, except which period of boxes were best. He also wrote a pulp fiction thriller ‘ The Music box murders’ he didn’t take himself seriously as a novelist, But because of our mutual interest, I don’t think you could help yourself but enjoy it.

The Murtogh D. Guinness Collection, located at the Morris Museum, Morristown, NJ., has in it an "Expressive", long & short pin, 5 changeable cylinders, keywind, 4 digit serial #, exactly the same weighted governor blade design, plus cross-grained comb surface finish. Sold through Henry Capt, Geneve & bedplate stamped with maker's name: "Karrer et Cie., Geneve" to the rear of the governor. Made while they were located in Geneva, before moving north to the Swiss-German region. I feel that your piece is by the same maker.
Very nice, great sound! I've seen several of these with long and short pins - two of them were signed 'Humbert Brollier', probably a retailer. They had the same fan assembly with the dumbbell weights to maintain the tempo. Made by Lecoultre perhaps? The pins don't actually need to be long and short, the same effect can be done by changing the rake.
Wonderful box. Quite possibly Lecoultre et Granger “airs expressifs” well done 👍🏼
Stunning early Mandolin Piano Forte. Possibly Metert or Langdorf? They were experimenting with this sort of design but others may have been too.
Or Badel.? a few P-F Badels are known
Looks like a Lecoultre & Granger, the “Lecoultre” being Henri. Lovely box!
@The Music Box Restorer I was just about I say HL+G but the serial doesn’t match in my head. You see, in the early eighteen forties HL&G serials were in the 3000’s. I’m not sure but believe that is the case. Anyway, i was comparing this to the Smithsonian mandoline box. They probably are by the same maker.
Lovely❤️😍🥰🎶🎵
Wayde, Check out my Nicole box SN 27139, c. 1849 which has exactly the same inlaid lid. I believe it is rare to have human figures on a box lid. Yours and mine are the only ones I've ever seen.
hi Tony, interesting your collection is world class. i have another box with human figures, a 6 shift 3 ouverture box by lecoultre i did not show the lid in the video but soon i will re-make it to show the lid.
