Not so much a repair as a clean and lube of two clocks. Both of these clocks were fully would but not working. I'm a sucker for nostalgia, so I just had to see if I could get them going again. They're out of a 1978 Piper Tomahawk. BTW, this is not how you should service a clock. I wanted first of all to see if they would run. Once I have let them run for a few weeks, I will have all of the gear...

Audio Interface for the IC756ProII.

Today I spent some time modifying the audio interface that I used to use with my Icom IC706MKIIG, so that it would work with the IC756ProII. I removed the 13pin DIN and replaced with with an 8 pin microphone plug. Unfortunately I didn't' have much cable so I had to make do with what I had. The box contains two 6.5mm phono sockets wired up to the microphone plug. One socket is for PTT, the other...

Lo mejorque pudo haber hecho es llamar a un relojero pars realizar el trabajo correcto, de tal manera como usted a realizado es dañar más el mecanismo de esos relojes de avión, ya que son mecanismos muy finos en su fabricación y muy pocos existen así, esta dañando unos tesoros muy difíciles de encontrar.

What lubricant did you use here? Is that WD-40?
No it is a combined solvent and lubricant used for cleaning electrical switches. I have since lubricated with specialised synthetic clock oil. This was just an attempt to get it going.

So how did the cap replacement go? Did it fix your audio? My plate voltage is 1650, but no audio complaints. Just curious if it fixed it. 73s W5YAK
Yes all went well. With the new capacitors, I can pretty much ignore the HV if it is below 2000V. Fixed the audio too.

@@kimberlyolsen4815 jealous. Noise is so high here I can almost cook a chicken off my vertical on 40m. Actually there is probably enough to change my phone....very very slowly.
I have a Heil PR40 and I love it. I also have an aussie made BeesNeez Oliver and a BeesNeez Shelise tube condenser mic which are so sweet sounding. World class. Picked up a Michael Joly Hulk as well. More people picked the Michael Joly as being the vintage Neumann than the actual vintage Neumann :-) Anyway, i only ever use a straight key on the air, as I’m much less likely to say something that’s not FCC approved :-) They get used in the studio here and with a couple of mates who have studios as well Glad you’re back on the air. Just in time for the solar uptick :-)

Electronic kits back in the day sure were something to behold. Kits these days are nothing in comparison. Of course, these days the laws and standards are a bunch of scare mongering. Kits involving mains voltage and higher voltages were common back then, which would give most regulation rule setters these days hernias. Would of been cool if you had put up a resto video on your V-5, always interesting to see others doing restos. I have not decided on what model I will get. I've been involved with solid state for many years, and am getting back into valves now. Partially for nostalgia, but also just respect and admiration of the tech. Extremely rare to see females into electronics and radio. And Aussie to boot, that is a cherry on top. Thanks for sharing!
