Vintage Everyday: Original 1949 BF Goodrich Whizzer. J Engine on a Schwinn WZ507 Bike. Warm Up Time!
Переглядів 2315 років тому
It's engine warm up time. This is an all original and authentic bike. Take a look at all the other Whizzers out there, they're configured wrong and/or 'restored' wrong...but not this bike! Is this the last original and authentic BF Goodrich Whizzer J on a Schwinn WZ507? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section below...

Vintage Everyday: Original 1949 Whizzer J on a Schwinn WZ507 Frame, BF Goodrich

Assembled and sold though a BF Goodrich dealer early in 1950...how cool is that!? Completely original...only the fuel shut-off valve, the front rim, and the tires have been replaced. Stephen is riding sooooo slowly...cause the bike was just sold! Did you see that small puff of smoke? I put a tad too much MMO in the gas, so it smoked just a bit when the engine was accelerating under load at low ...

    First, get the correct notched, or serrated belt, a tad longer, problem over. Then get a new needle & seat, no reason the carb' should drip, this a huge fire hazard..

    Very helpful shots of the motor/clutch showing mounts etc. I found a motor in a box with everything but the gas tank. Gonna mount it up after I unstick it. That was a beautiful original machine that by now you are prolly kickin yoself tradin it for worthless cash.

    Another problem is depending on how much use sometimes it can also be the clutch pulley bearing sometimes it could just simply get worn and get a little loose.

    I've seen a Model A with both foot and hand actuated accelerators. Does this one have both?

    • @vintageeveryday2020
      @vintageeveryday2020 5 років тому

      Yes, all A's have that. There is a control rod on the right side of the steering column that's used to keep the RPM up just a little bit during warm ups, among a few other purposes. Its not a good idea to use it for driving because its not spring loaded back to the idle position, so it could be unsafe in an accident. Maybe Henry Ford was trying to convince former Model T (they had the accelerator on the steering column only) drivers to switch to the newer Model A's?

  • @vintageeveryday2020

    The audio 'popping' and 'crackling' is interference from the unshielded 1930 ignition system. It's not engine noise :)
