I was unsure what settings the game offers before i buy it but thank you so much for this. "CRT filter + Smoothing On + Standard Game Screen" looked best to my eyes on a 24' monitor in fullscreen mode.

⚠Missing the SOCOM in the truck at the Helipad at the beginning of the game starts a chain reaction of items changing location! Immediately grabbing that and then the Thermal Goggles in the Tank Hangar upon arrival CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH. You have one chance upon arrival. The Goggles will be moved to this level 6 room where the Body Armor would have been. The second location of the Body Armor at the beginning of Disc 2 still makes a huge difference for the hard to avoid damage. Reach the door that leads to the cargo elevator in the blast furnace but head south instead to a room with pipes shooting out steam. Crawl through the vent at the bottom left side of the screen to collect it from this area.

How do you vault over that to get the chaff grenade?
