Creativity - When you crawl over the line to finish a tune.
Finishing audio recordings of your Artistic work is hard. Sometimes it will test you to your limits.
hyperfollow.com/scififunk/
In this case, I am 3 days (elapsed) over my deadline, which has a knock-on effect to everything else. However, if it’s not done, it’s not ready. In this case, new issues kept cropping up when I thought I was done. Also, I had DAW errors creeping in as a prelude to a crash. All time-wasting and very unwanted when you are at the edge of your stamina and patience (and time). Any hoo we got through. What about you? Do you often crawl over the line or punch the air in triumph?

Arranging on the edge of your self belief - Music Production notes and ideas.
Переглядів 242 місяці тому
A discussion of arrangement ideas, when you are pushing yourself to make a better arrangement. hyperfollow.com/scififunk/ In this case, the pre-chorus was stronger than the chorus! So I made that the chorus instead and relegated the old chorus to a one off bridge. In fact, if you stick with it you’ll get some ideas about how you can break the rules when it comes to verse, chorus and pre-chorus ...
Make Music Faster - Using Simplification to speed up Music Production.

Using the benefit of simplification to give yourself less work to complete a tune. hyperfollow.com/scififunk/ Why turning to your early work (with a view to finishing it) is going to help you produce faster - 1. You’ll probably have written with simplifier chords, 2 - You’ll have written for simpler arrangements, 3. You’ll have less equipment therefore recreating sounds is easier (less choices)...

    Yeah good advice. Its an odd buisness making music. You do go in fits and starts and bursts and then ... nothing for a while. Gotta use some of this stuff for a track I need to get to somone soon. I'm in the middle bit atm ... going is slow.

    Is the casio cz-1 worth it i have a powerful fm synth but i like the sound of the casio as well i just want to make analog sounds.

    • @scififunk
      @scififunk 3 місяці тому

      Yes! Why? Because it’s the only one in the series with velocity sensitivity. Put that on the filters and it’s a game changer, if you like to play rather than program. Vs DX7 et Al it’s a different sound.

    • @scififunk
      @scififunk 3 місяці тому

      Thanks mate. They seem to give a nice clear sound. Not really pushed them yet. I had them on reasonably loud the other day with closed doors, couldn’t hear anything outside! This is where foam seats and speaker stands with pin prick leg bottoms really help to isolate the sound.

  • @christofthedead
    @christofthedead 5 місяців тому

    When the instructions say "place speakers 1.5m from wall", why do you measure the distance you are from the speaker, then decide you should hang it on a wall? Doesn't placing monitor speakers near walls overly attenuate the bass? Which you're having to max boost the treble to compensate for, while still further attenuating bass by +2? I mean, I guess that's fine? If some people want a secondary keyboard to use as a poop tray, ain't gonna muddy up my mix.

      Glad you enjoyed them. It’s the same architecture as the k1. I thought they were all 12-bit but looking at vintage synth etc the k1 was 8 bit. The thing is around this time the sound got fudged between 8 to 12 bit. For example an engineer told me the sp-12 drum machine was 8 bit internally but it output at 12 bit. Early 8 bit (mid 80s) was a lot more dirty than the late 80s 8/12 bit. The k1r sounds cleaner than the ensoniq mirage sampler for example.
