oh no!! 90 degree days?!?! how do you live????? (i'm in Texas)
im from here. milwaukee is a shit hole
The crime needs to be warned about to newcomers. I moved from Northern California to southernmost Menomonee Falls, and I have yet to venture into Milwaukee because I know there are some viciously dangerous areas (Milwaukee is the 33rd most violent city in the WORLD-- ranking just above Mexico City) and I don't know exactly where the danger spots are in the city and how to avoid them, so I just avoid the whole city. Watch the news for the daily horrible car accidents and murders if you think I am exaggerating. If you have the ability to avoid the city, then the surrounding counties are gorgeous, quiet and safe for the most part and I love my little area.
Your wrong kid, we have two seasons winter & construction. Plus the police force is a joke, they make the keystone cops look like special forces. Rent is over priced, especially for a place that's not worth a plug nickel. So kid if you don't like it, leave !
I've lived in Madison for 24 years, it's great, I love Madison! I love it, but to just dwell on the few bad things about it for a moment: • the homeless beggars can be aggressive (the city is very safe overall though) • Most mid-priced restaurants are of low quality • Lots of marijuana, lots, it’s everywhere • traffic is bad bc the lakes bottle things up - lots and lots and lots of street construction • Housing and rents are too expensive • Good luck trying to find a dine-in coffee shop open after 8 p.m. - The winters can be brutal, but just like any Midwestern city
This video did not help people want to move there … maybe focus on realtor and not UA-cam lol
I’m Californian/San Franciscan and people have no idea how truly bad it is here financially
I'm an ex-milwaukean. It's a great town with great housing and recreation. All of it is kind of expensive. If you make a real nice wage you might like it there. If you are poor, it's horrible. I lived there for 50 years. The last 20 in the poorer area of the south side. I was constantly watching my back. I didn't have much happen to me because I took defensive measures. I made my large garage door impossible to open from the outside. I parked my car 3 inches from the service door so that door couldn't be opened. Lots of little stuff like that.
Great info. Very informative.. I'm glad i found your channel.
Awww do Racine County. Lol. Well done.
I am loving your clear, concise presentation and professional quality editing. Thanks for all the info you share. Love your lighthouse. 😄
We were so blessed to find a well-kept house in a newer neighborhood with all the amenities at a great price. We looked at tons of older homes in our area and they were mostly filthy and falling apart, most needing completely new kitchens and baths at minimum. But you’ve hit all the best points. I will say that far more wearing than construction noise is my neighbors’ obsession with mowing their lawns all on different days. Literally every day in Spring so far has been filled with the buzz of lawnmowers. 🙄🙄 Can’t we start a campaign like Wow Wisconsin Wednesday or Mow Milwaukee Monday or something that would encourage folks to all mow on the same day each week? I swear my neighbor across the street mows three times a week at least! 😂
Great review. There is no such thing as a perfect city. I’ve visited Milwaukee a few times and enjoyed it.
Milwaukee is boring with a bunch of hillbillies. Let these California people have it I'll pass 😂
Live in fear of the police chases, it can get you killed, they never catch the perps, just chase them. Avoid Milwaukee, as you would any rust belt city way past it's glory days. The outer burbs are the place if you have to relocate to the metro area. Then there's the issue of who in their right mind would invest in rust belt city real estate? I'm in Germantown and it's too close.
yeah......not really. the glass in not half empty, it's half full. milwaukee has so much to offer other than his opinion. big city with a small time feel. i've lived all over the united states and milwaukee is a "diamond in the rough" . "love the 4 seasons" .
If not for 9.2 months of winter I’d still live there.
I live here, it's a shit hole.
All true. But the crime rate is in the city of Milwaukee is terrible. According to the FBI, in 2022, Milwaukee ranked 6th nationally for violent crimes. It’s hard to see a way out of that trend for the next generation or two.
I was thinking the same thing.
I will never forget moving from the Twin Cities Minneapolis St. Paul areas to Milwaukee years ago and the first thing we heard was you’re not gonna believe the winters. Everybody was trying to tell us how incredibly hard the winters are. At the end of the year I asked my wife when is winter coming. It’s generally 10 to 20° warmer in Milwaukee than the Twin Cities. we hardly get any snow compared to the Twin Cities. Although the Milwaukee area is quite unique in the fact that some suburbs will get a foot and some won’t get any so you can’t judge the snowfall or the winter by one area. I think you have to have only lived in Milwaukee or south of that because the northern part of the state is a whole different winter. The thing I find from people who have never lived here or even visited is that they assume from the northern tip of the stay to the bottom corner it’s all the same weather. It couldn’t be Less true. There are probably five weather areas in the state and if you live in one and assume that’s the weather in Wisconsin, you’re absolutely incorrect. Example Madison may be getting a foot of snow, and Milwaukee may not get any. The North Shore, South Shore of Milwaukee make it, no snow in the western suburbs may be buried. Spooner Wisconsin may have 30 below and Racine may be 32°. Amazing weather differences. You might wanna do a little more thorough research if you’re going to discuss weather in Wisconsin.
My gosh just couple these comments to 25% of the. Northern parts of the US. Snow removal is actually pretty good in Milwaukee. Taxes are higher but when you look at other Upper Midwest it is not more expensive. Very shallow perspective…it feels like a Farmers Almanac approach or a Moving to a Upper Midwest City for Dummies
Thank you for the feedback, and for watching my video. I appreciate the support. This was my first ever video, so I hope to improve as time goes on.
Do all of us a favor and move. Now!
Thanks for watching, commenting, and supporting my channel!
I am from Southern California and I am happy living in Milwaukee county, with plans to move to downtown.
That's awesome to hear! I hope you find a great place. If you are buying and would like assistance send me an email.
Great perspective. Lots of good and bad about the area, like all areas!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Wait they have snow and property taxes in Milwaukee? I had no idea. 😂😂😂. The road construction is ridiculous. That is all I could agree with.
Haha I know right, who knew?! 😂 Thanks for watching!
Might have missed it, but the crime. It's called Killwaukee for a reason! The city ranks number three in the nation for overall crime. AND as an added bonus, it's moving out to the burbs. So things like car insurance and homeowners insurance are going through the roof thanks to the dimwits who put the DA and Judges into their positions who refuse to hold these thugs responsible. They've picked Milwaukee clean and now they're coming out to the suburbs. Unfortunately so are the aforementioned dimwits who "just have to leave the crime of the city." Well genius, how do you think it got that way? So they're now electing the same morons in the burbs. But on the bright side, we do have Kopps Custard. Just don't go to their high class joint downtown...there was just a double shooting there the other day.
Thanks for watching, and the perspective. Rules around holding a real estate license prohibits me from discussing crime statistics, if customers and clients ask for that type of information we are required to provide them with resources on where they will be able to find that information. BTW Kopps is a great recommendation, love it there!
What a whiner,, dude, go outside and play!
city guy. probably lives in an apartment on the east side. no offence to the east side.
Thanks for watching, just got done cutting the grass outside. Nice day for it 👍
In the winter it's like South Park but in the summer it's like Miami 😅 luv Milwaukee
Great analogy! Thanks for watching!
It is not like Miami. People in Wisconsin cannot survive summer in Miami. They pass out. I’ve seen it.
Great video and even greater Legos👏
Thanks @peefman!
The way you framed this sounded a lot like life in Illinois already 😂 What about neighborhoods - are there must-avoid areas to live in that get a similar rep like the South Side of Chicago..? Still considering the move from Central Illinois in the next year. Draws are proximity to Chicago without Chicago prices.
@@jrm2383 I'll look into the Milwaukee county suburbs. :) Doing my research until we make the final decision to move before our current lease ends next August! Time is flying.
@kanacci02 😂 While I haven't lived in Illinois I bet there are similarities! Thanks for the feedback and ideas for a future video about popular neighborhoods. I will work on that for a future video!
@kanacci02 north side of milwaukee and near south side of milwaukee is where the higher crime areas are located. Far south side, bayview, east side, far northwest side, downtown, and third ward are pretty safe. Like some have mentioned, a lot of milwaukee county suburbs are pretty good. West Allis and Wauwatosa are best if you want to live in a dense area and the south shore suburbs of oak creek and Franklin have a more traditional suburban feel. There are some farther suburbs that are nice too such as Waukesha, Racine, Lake Country, etc.
@@flyingbanana4179 thank you for the other neighborhood recommendations!
These points are general about the climate in the entire upper Midwest and not really specific to Milwaukee. The entire upper Midwest always has a lot of road construction, the salt that is needed during snow tears up roads. It's also why roads in southern warm climates are usually much smoother and have less construction - no snow so no salt. And likewise, large metro counties typically have higher tax rates than suburban counties anywhere. There are pros and cons to Milwaukee but it didn't really seem to hit on them.
Thanks for watching and the feedback. I will dive deeper into more specific pros and cons as time goes on and I make new videos.
Wow! That was a totally negative hatchet job. I grew up in California and love living in Milwaukee. Let's list some of the positives: 1. We are on the shores of Lake Michigan and have many miles of public beaches; 2. The Great Lakes contain 1/5th of the worlds fresh water giving us an abundant supply of fresh, clean drinking water; 3. As climate change impacts the rest of the world, Milwaukee is expected to have far less impact than coastal cities; 4. Milwaukee has a vibrant music, dining and art scene... on any summer night one can find free concert in the 169 county parks.; 5. Yes, the roads are perpetually under constructions but you can drive anywhere in the city in 15 minutes... try doing that in Chicago.
Thanks for watching and the feedback! I agree, about loving living here. I made a video recently that shows some of the same positives you mentioned. Check it out here. ua-cam.com/video/TLv5IVeImro/v-deo.html
Thank you @user-wh5ir4fo4r. It seems like hail used to be a much more rare occurrence. That's a great point, I should add that to a future video, because it is becoming more common!
The only reason you like Milwaukee is probably because you have never been to a state with real people and this is the first time you have not real people after leaving California. 😂
It was -50 one year fuck that place
