Taro Cake 賀年芋頭糕
Taro Cake is a popular Chinese New Year festive food. It involves more ingredients and more cooking steps when compared it to the Chinese New Year Cake and the Water Chestnut Cake. However, it is easier to make than Turnip Cake. I love taro very much but this year is my first time to make a Taro Cake because I always think it is difficult to make it. After my research on various recipes, I finally developed my own recipe and it proves to be successful! My family loves my Taro Cake🥰.

Ingredients/材料
Taro/芋頭: 400g/克
Chinese mushrooms/冬菇: 4 pieces/4件
Chinese preserved sausages/臘腸: 2 pieces/條
Dried scallops/乾瑤柱: 30g/克
Rice flour/粘米粉: 130g/克
Wheat starch/澄麵: 35g/克
Water/水: 2 cups/量杯
Scallop water: 1/2 cup/量杯
Five spice powder: 1 teaspoon/茶匙
Chicken powder: 1 teaspoon/茶匙
Salt/鹽: 1 teaspoon/茶匙
White Pepper: a little
Brown Granulated Sugar/甘香砂糖: 1/4 teaspoon/茶匙
Sesame oil: 1/4 teaspoon/茶匙

      謝謝你收看。我用不同品牌的高筋粉也有做過這款吐司,效果都相似的。日本麵粉和韓國麵粅都有用過。

      I used a 450g cat mould. It is hollow. The height of the mould is around 13.4cm. The height of the cat face is 12.3cm.

      Sorry for my late reply. This is a piping cookie recipe so you cannot roll it and cut it. You have to try ice box cookie recipes if you want to roll it and cut it into the shapes you want using cookie cutters.

      actually you can. put the dough on cling wrap and carefully roll it to a log shape like Japanese making sushi roll. then put it in the freezer resting for 20 minutes. after it firms up, swiftly cut it in slices and arrange on baking tray with enough space in between cos the cookies will spread out.

      謝謝你的詢問。全麥粉加入和暖水是可放於室温的,但是要用保鮮紙密卦好。我在網上查看過一般建靜置12至24小時。先把全麥粉浸温水的作用是可幫助我們容易吸收到麩皮的本身營養和增加麵包的柔軟度。有食譜書亦建議夏天可以放雪櫃冷藏一晚。

      @@slcheng2921 這款麵包的外層及內都應該是輕身鬆軟的,不會太濕太實的。你看看第一次搓麵糰時是否已乾滑,若仍太濕潤的話,要調教搓揉的時間長些或減少奶的份量。

      Thanks so much for your response to my video. Please do not substitute Whipping Cream with other liquid ingredients. The secret of the super soft Shokupan is 3 of the ingredients such as whipping cream, unsalted butter and honey. Whipping cream and unsalted butter can make the bread with finer texture, softer and shiny. The whipping cream increases the moisture of the dough. The honey helps the fermentation process which makes the bread softer. I hope you can bake yout own Shokupan successfully and you enjoy it.
