To the people who don't know.....this rig has relics that are worth THOUSANDS of dollars and are highly sought after right now. The fact he got some of these things for a few hundred quid...
My "best" junkie music friend put my SCI SixTrak in a pawnshop for 28 GBP...as he did with my Yamaha CS 15. The Six Trak was sold before i did it back.
i also used to chat with ott via IRC back in 2001 and the whole video just coincides with everything he told me there. So i guess the guy that commented saying he was lying about his used gear, must have misunterstood him completely. Besides that, it´s like the Flyin Eye Project wrote below: he allways used all different kinds of DAWs, Hard- and Software and various recording techniques. great video ! Ott: if you ever drop by here and read this, big hug to u from an old pal! ;-)
It`s always weird to see where all that magnificent magic is coming from! You are expecting to see some mysterious devices and secretive entities. And then there`s just a british guy woth loads of tech and toys ;)
Ott didn't lie. His gear has changed since then. I use to chat with Ott on IRC. When he was making Hallucinogen In Dub, he was using Nuendo + Reason. He did have that mixing console back then, he showed me on his webcam. He used to it record live instruments into his DAW. Later he was doing shows / DJ sets he was asking about Ableton. At some point he started using Logic, I believe it was during Skylon. After that he quit IRC and I didn't chat with him anymore. So he didn't lie. His gear changed
That was probably an older gear list. I knew Ott (on IRC)when he was using Reason + Nuendo. Hallucinogen In Dub he used. I believe he was using Nuendo first, we both were using at that time. And he used that mixer for recording live instruments. He's not lying. I remember him asking about Ableton after he started doing his own live DJ sets. He's not lying, his way of working has evolved over the years, as does any producer, engineer, musician. I don't used Nuendo anymore either.
in a forum on the Twisted Records website, Ott ENTIRELY lied about his equipment! He said he was using Reason + Nuendo, while what I see here is Ableton. He said he mixed in the box - then what is that big analog mixer doing there. And that "gear fetiscism" "mystified" him, while I see a bit of that here. He basically said the complete opposite of the truth! Either he CHANGED his way of working, or he's one of the biggest liars I could imagine...
How fantastic! Absolutely fascinating. I recongnise some of those percussion sounds from Ott's tracks. But one question, where is the infamous harmonium? I am sure there was a youtube vid where Ott was showing that off. I had no idea Ott used so much outboard gear, I assumed it was mostly desktop stuff, partly as the sounds are so incredibly clear , I could never get stuff to sound that good but maybe I had a pants mixer or compressor.
trying to locate the secret sauce
Anyone that says electronic music requires no “skill” has never seen a modular.

My "best" junkie music friend put my SCI SixTrak in a pawnshop for 28 GBP...as he did with my Yamaha CS 15. The Six Trak was sold before i did it back.
