Credit Cards 101 - Everything you need to know!
Переглядів 7911 місяців тому
Sorry for saying "umm" a million times lol, working on it Credit cards are one of those mysterious weird topics... I don't think I had any education on them when I graduated high school, other than that they are "bad" and should be avoided. Most people are uncomfortable to ask or speak about it because it is a "debt" product and involves money. So, I wanted to make a consolidated video to refer...

Choice & Radisson Hotels - UNBELIEVABLE VALUE!
Переглядів 3,2 тис.Рік тому
Today I am discussing Choice and Radisson Hotels. There is not much discussion of these two chains in the travel community; even though there is so much hidden value. Examples: $22.50 / night roadtrips $36 / night beach stays (ocean city & rehoboth beach) $165 / night NYC Times Square If you buy the points directly with Choice or Radisson, these values will be slightly more expensive than using...
This video was a great breakdown! Thanks so much for shwoing the value.
Today is August 24, 2024. I checked out the Asheville NC Biltmore East motel for October 24. The senior price was $111, or 20k pts. Choice's so-called half-price points purchase for 20k pts is $103. I am unimpressed. I got a look at the paperwork for a similar stay with points and saw that the hotel received only $26 from Choice. If I were the proprietor, I'd hate users of their points program, and stick them at the end of the corridor on an upper floor.
Great video! Very helpful!
How do you see the points amount they want me to have a lot of points or they won't show me the prices they just say not enough points.
Still the best in the biz!! Thanks!
Oh I’m still lurking around haha. Have a lot of stuff lined up! Thanks for your support ❤️
Wow this is crazy! I did it from canada on mobile incognito and got a 190k welcome. Is there any way you could think this could work for the canadian cards?
Man that is hella good. The biggest ive seen personally is a 190k sub for $15k spend.
Personally, I think it is elevated because they want a bunch of people to sign up for it because they’re likely making massive changes at end of this year (since 3 big credits end 12/31/24) and it’s good to have more people locked in.
Sweet! Great info thank you
I'm staying in Washington DC at the convention center next week for 16,000 points per night. Pretty good for DC.
Best on UA-cam!!! Sorry man started a new job and been swamped 😢
Hahaha always coming in hot with the kindness Hope the new job is going well!! good to hear from you
Thanks for sharing! Wanted to ask if cash+points is still an option for Choice these days. I have some points but not enough to make a redemption.
Hey there! It is but it is limited. Hotels you can do this will have a * symbol on their redemption. But be careful because sometimes it doesn't make sense if the upfront cost is low. Example: I just looked at one near me and it is 54$ a night or "6,000 pts + $51" which makes zero sense. My rule of thumb is, if you see that the hotel upfront cost is <0.5 cent per point, don't use points. So, if a hotel is $120 or 30,000 pts, (or 0.4cpp) just pay upfront. Always depends! Also also, you can set your "company info" under settings to be a walmart employee which allows like 25% off all hotels! I've used it before to pay upfront they don't verify. Corporate ID: 00071192 Hope that helps and thanks for watching :)
May i ask, the 30,000 pts anniversary, is it valid for only one year, or will they let you accumulate them? Cause the others free night expire in 12 anniversary months. Thanks for the counter valuable content
You got it right on actually, because it is points they do not expire after 12 months like the certificates. However, the points do expire if your account has no activity after 18 months. (no recorded stays / points earned) But you don't have to worry about that if you have the choice credit card active. :) hope that helps, and thanks for watching!!
Hi, I went into the choice privileges website to see hotel rooms available to redeem for points, I noticed that numerous hotel locations are excluding certain rooms to redeem using choice points including the room we regularly stay at. Is this something that's changing or did I do something wrong on my end on viewing the rooms? If this is an upgrade limitation with choice privileges points I do not see the same value as i did for either choice credit cards... I would love to hear your feedback on this.
I've definitely been shilling Kayak recently. Super powerful and yet clean and modern interface that isn't overwhelming. Most competitors don't check both boxes!
I absolutely love it! It simplifies searching for all things travel so much. I am surprised more people don’t discuss it
Please make another video!!!
I'm looking forward to more of your content...
Lifetime NYC resident here. if you have not done your NYC trip yet, I would not recommend staying in Coney Island. going to Times Square from there by subway will take an hour or more and the area can be sketchy later at night.
Is it really that bad?? Good to know! Is it still worthwhile if times square is out of the equation? Not familiar with anything outside of Manhattan to be honest. Are the beaches around there nice?
I just got the WF CP Select card for the 90K bonus last week! I also have the Citi CC. I wasn't aware you could purchase CP points. If I were to wait until I see a 50% off points sale could I buy $500 worth on the City CC and have that code as a travel category for 5%?
Great question! Bad news is purchases are coded as Points.com purchases, so it does not count towards any category for citi custom cash card. The WF CP Select card actually grants you 10 Choice points per $ spent on choice points! So effectively same as citi custom cash, if you were to transfer your citi points to Choice. Additionally, to maximize choice point purchases, you can get an additional cash back on points purchases through topcashback, 2.62%. here is the link, just shop through here when they have the next 50% off promo :) www.topcashback.com/choice-privileges/ Note: Other cashback extension sites don't really offer cashback on points. Rakuten and others have Choice, but its only for bookings. (remember coded as points.com not choice) Here is my referral if you don't have an account with topcashback: www.topcashback.com/ref/member1235740702542 Hope that info helps! Cheers! 🙂
I have to get premium fuel, so I usually fill up at Costco. Costo Premium 93 is on average 60 cents cheaper a gallon than any local gas station. Since they only take VISA that Wyndham Business Earner looks very enticing. I just wish Barclays wasn't the issuer
Agreed! I also use premium fuel and hunt down the wholesale clubs for that reason. And yeah, Barclays can be very finicky. I have the Wyndham biz card and it was a pain to get.
I understand the 1:2 transfer from Citi to Choice. How is it that you transfer 1:2 Choice to Radison? I’m confused because I thought that Radison points are gone now
Hey there! So you are correct, Radisson points are gone now. Everything is booked under Choice. If you had Radisson points, you can transfer them over to Choice by linking your account. Previously you could do that transfer but it has since been eliminated. Hope that helps! 🙂
@@kylercredit thank you so much! This channel is great. Im very much considering setting up a Citi Trifecta with multiple Custom Cash, and getting the Choice Privileges Select. My wife and I care more about the experiences than a fancy room on vacation. I’m currently working with the Chase Trifecta
@@billervin4715 I feel exactly the same way. I love getting multiple experiences rather than one or two luxury ones. (not that I don't love luxury too!) That is my long term setup goal as well since I love Choice so much :) the Citi quadfecta (don't forget rewards+ for 10% boost in points) is incredible for maximizing all categories. And thank you for your kindness, it is encouraging to continue making content! Cheers~ ❤
Great follow up on Choice, and Radisson, very informative...
Best in the biz!!! Keep it up man!!!
Hey everyone, apologies for the audio quality. I will improve it for the next one. Thanks for understanding! Made this one a little hastily. Cheers!
Thank you for doing a video on choice!! It’s HIGHLY underrated imo. The banner elk property in NC I stay at all the time for my ski trips to sugar mountain. I’d consider myself an intermediate travel hacker and I maximize choice the most! You do have to do a bit more research & read reviews/ratings because you have to watch where you stay as I have definitely stayed in some sketchy ones but as I’m learning more taking the extra 5 minutes of reading reviews/ratings and exploring the area around the hotel helps get you a cheap stay in a clean & safe area !!! Thank you again for posting & educating others on choice!!
Thank you for your kind words! They mean a lot and help me keep at it. That's a interesting coincidence, I have the Banner Elk property booked for a birthday trip in October actually. It looks amazing from the pictures and your comment has me excited to check it out. And yes, they can be hit or miss but doing the research to find the hidden gems is very rewarding 🙂 Also PS (you probably already know): The banner elk property is only 10-12k points per night after September 16th right now if you were looking to do another trip!
Banner elk is like my second home! Very quiet & great area!Especially in October, leaves are gorgeous during that time & the small town is very quaint. You’ll have to check out Sorrento’s Italian bistro if you like Italian!(on the pricey side but worth it!)
@@bw68319 I will absolutely check it out! Thanks for the recommendation
Sorry I'm confused. How much are the 30, 000 anniversary points with the choice rewards credit card worth towards a Radisson hotel stay? My wife and I stay at the country inn & suite for anniversary and are looking for a credit card that will give us the highest value for one night stay equal to approximately 250-300 dollars a night . I thought the choice credit card with anniversary credits would be best Although would citi premier or Amex, or even the venture x by capital one be a better choice?
No worries on confusion! I'm new to this lol. So you can transfer choice points you would earn each year with choice select card (30,000 each year) to 60,000 Radisson points. Just google "transfer choice to radisson points" and it'll take you to choice's website where you can trade them. 60,000 radisson points could get you anywhere from 2-6 night stays at the country inn & suite. They vary from 10,000 to 30,000 points a night usually. You can see at 20:05 this Radisson in Rochester, NY is 10,000 points a night. And at this night it is about $250 a night stay. So, in theory you could get 6 nights here x $250 = $1,500 in value for the $99 annual fee choice card. (in addition to its other benefits like TSA and platinum status) Lastly, if you're primarily interested in staying at the country inn properties, I would definitely get the annual fee choice card or the citi premier card. The 75k points with the citi premier card would get you 150k choice points, which would then be 300k radisson points. 300k radisson points could get you 30 nights at the country inn if you look hard enough! Hope this helps! Thanks for your question
@@kylercreditno I think you explained well, I'm pretty new to hotel credit cards. I will definitely Google that with Radisson and see if I can figure out how to do that. And I will consider the city premiere. I'm having a problem finding the specific room we stay for our anniversary available on several travel portals, including choices booking portal, I was hoping that the 30,000 annual choice points would pay for the one night stay although I'm still unsure if I need to book through choice, or if I could use them directly with country inn & suites. Would you happen to have a UA-cam video explaining further? And thanks again for responding. Keep up the great content!
@@DB6904. It looks like Choice is completing its acquisition of Radisson by July 25th. The Radisson app and website is giving me issues and I think all radisson properties will have to be booked under Choice starting July 25th so that might be why you're having issues. Before you would have to book on Radisson website or app to get country inn & suites. Choice is just an intermediate step to transfer the points. But now it looks like you'll be able to just book directly on Choice. I'll make a video discussing the new changes and how to book radisson properties once this merger happens since you asked 🙂 stay tuned! If your anniversary is super close and you need help ASAP navigating, feel free to email me kylercredit@outlook.com otherwise I should have something up within the next week or two. Cheers!
@@kylercredit that's great, thank you!
Choice hotel points in Japan has great value. 8000 points for hotels costing over $100 usd is normal
That's awesome! It's great that they appear all over the world it seems. Seems to be a good selection around the tokyo area now that I am looking. Thanks for the info!
Nice!
The best on UA-cam!
You need a better mic bro
Noted lol, I think it may have been using my webcam mic at the time. I definitely have a good one though
Wow, incredible video with so much valuable info. I learned a lot, thank you!
Thank you so much! That really inspires me to keep it coming
Do they have a points chart
A points chart? What exactly do you mean? If you mean the range of points a room might cost it’s 8,000-35,000 for Choice, and 10,000-67,500 for Radisson in my experience
More Choice Hotels content please!
PLEASE make another video!
absolutely my #1 cheerleader lol, I have something in the works stay tuned :)
Choice has a pretty large presence in Scandinavia as well. I'm in the process of booking a Stockholm, Sweden trip next year.
Good to know! I am looking to book a choice property in Italy here soon. Internationally the value is still very much there too.
Just amazing. I would love to chat with you sometime man! I love talking rewards!
Sure! Let’s talk shop, send me an email. I should probably start putting that kind of thing in my descriptions lol. kylercredit@outlook
Loving this channel! Great content that not many people talk about! Keep it up!
That means so much thank you!!
Great video!
Nice counter-to-the-normal UA-cam travel advice. I’ve been thinking about trying the 1:4 Citi to Radisson transfer to see what you get. Good luck with your channel!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback! The 1:4 transfer ratio is so valuable and I wish more talked about it. Hope to bring more unique content soon
