Connect on the Road with Jeff and Susan

My wife Susan and I started this channel "Connect on the Road with Jeff and Susan" when we purchased our KZ Connect travel trailer. We traveled around the US visiting some amazing places, but in 2023 decided we wanted to settle down in Summerville, SC, about 25 miles from Charleston. In 2024 we decided to sell our Connect, but we wanted to keep our channel and post our adventures around SC and beyond. You can still pull up past videos of our trip in our RV, which we miss so much, but we have so much more we want to do and see. So, stay tuned for more videos of our adventures.
Mineral Bluff, GA October 2024
4 couples spent 4 days and nights in a cabin in small town of Mineral Bluff, Georgia. The town is located close to the Tennessee border.

Bulow Landing

Our Horizons' Paddlers group went on an early morning trip on the Stono River near Ravenel, SC at the Bulow Landing launch site. Bren and Daves July August 2024 visit

So Susan's sister Brenda and her husband Dave came down for a visit in July/August 2024 and stayed for about 10 days. We had a great time as usual. We did some of the same things that we have done with them before, but also did some new things as well. Overall, we had a great time with them. It was sad to see them go, but they left just in time before TS Debby hit the Charleston area.
Ashley River kayak trip with neighborhood group 7 20 24

On a beautiful summer morning in Summerville, SC our Horizons neighborhood kayak group hit the water on the Ashley River at the Ashley River Park. A very peaceful and uneventful trip (meaning no gators were spotted). It was about a 2-hour trip and about 10 paddlers today.
Shem Creek Kayak Adventure 6 30 24

With our friends Jim and Kricket, we went kayaking at Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, SC on 6-30-24. Was a beautiful day, left the harbor around 9:30am and kayaked out to Hod island channel and east towards the light house at Sullivans Island, but there was no way we could paddle that far. A boat day with friends on Lake Moultrie in South Carolina

Spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon on Lake Moultrie with friends from our Horizons at Summers Corner neighborhood. We went through the lock that takes you down 70' to the Cooper river, and had a nice lunch. We then went back through the lock, did some swimming then back to the campground for a quick swim in the pool, then dinner. Thank you Ed and Robin for a wonderful day!
Father's day kayak trip with our friends 6 16 24

A 3-hour kayak trip up and down the Ashley River close with our friends Jim and Kricket. We saw 3 alligators, some turtles and some birds. Nice and easy trip, not much wind, sunny and warm.
Grace Visit Summer 2024

Our 8-year-old granddaughter Grace came down to South Carolina to visit us for a couple of weeks while she is out of school. We had an amazing time with her. We went back and forth since we bought our house here in SC about whether or not we were going to keep the RV, but in the end we decided we had to sell it. lived in Gburg for a little while and go back when i can. this past year i was able to make 2 trips 1 for the 159th anniversary of the battle July 1-3 (keep in mind if you plan to visit at that time next year for the 160th book yr hotel / camp ground or RV park EARLY as it will be mobbed) then in Sept at Ike's Farm and the new WW2 American Experience Museum it's the big world war 2 weekend with encampments and a big USO dance , Gettysburg has history with both world war 1 & 2 from training camps and POW camps. (i was doing 551st PIB Operation Dragoon, AUG 44 Southern France). you really need a good week to be able to see a decent amount of stuff. a few tips if planning a visit 1) Read up on the history or watch some youtube video's (the Battlefield trust & History Underground has great info and video's. 2) Pick a few area's that most interest you and make time to see them(exp. Little Round Top / Devil's Den) 3) look up and visit your home state's monument (if there is 1) 4) look at reviews for all the restaurants in town as there so many to choose from (J&B in the Hills on youtube do some great video's on that) Federal Point Inn has a Pub in the basement you got too try the Boom Boom Sauce with your fries lol. 5) take time to walk around town stop in too all the shops talk with the locals ,if on the battlefield get out and explore some of the trails (1 warning DON"T GET CAUGHT IN THE FOG/MIST AT DUSK) the sunset's & sunrise on the battlefield our amazing esp Little Round Top & The Eternal Peace Flame. i hope you make it back to Gburg and explore it more
