Thank you for your post. I grew up being told that ancestors from Germany settled in Lancaster County, PA. A recent DNA ancestry update reported I am 50% German.

My Dad's came from Darstadt, Germany in the 1830's. They landed in Baltimore, and settled in Somerset, County, Pennsylvania.

Californian here, traced both sides of my family back to Germans from Baden region who migrated to PA in 1600s. One half went south, the other west through Ohio/Missouri, and both randomly aligned again 100s of years later in California. Thanks for the video, I was wondering why Germans were going to PA in the 1600s.

Germans were still a minority for like 100 years after independence. What do you mean they became the majority? 😂 and they were considered “other”

Dr Mojzes You were my professor in world religions at Rosemont College in the 90’s……I understand the meaning of the scripture …God created the notion of love, therefore the love we give and receive from our loved i.e Mother, Father , Siblings and even romantic love (spouse) comes directly from God. We should therefore put God first because the love we give and receive comes from God and manifests through our loved ones not from them……..Do you understand. Obviously, you're focusing on the Lutheran perspective because that's your audience, but I'm sad you didn't list the Mennonites among the German religious immigrants to Pennsyvlania. The Mennonite and Amish communities play a huge role in Pennsylvania's German history and present.

The Op den Graef family were first cousins of William Penn via William Penn's mother.
