2022 BRZ - Top 5 LIKES and DISLIKES after 14k miles...
The updated 2022+ Subaru BRZ is an unmatched value in many ways, but it's far from perfect. If your priorities fall within the things it does well, you'll love it. But if you can't get over these five major drawbacks, you probably need to look for another car to purchase. Learn from my experience over 18 months and nearly 14,000 miles of ownership...

Car seats in the back of a Subaru BRZ? Can it be a daily driver for a family?

The new 2022 Subaru BRZ is great at a lot of things, but can it play the role of a daily driver if you have kids with car seats? Find out if it worked for me - and my wife and kids - during my ownership over 18 months and 14,000 miles and how long it takes to install a car seat in the small back seat. This is exactly what I needed to see. I even have that same car seat. We have a 2 year old and another on the way. Really would love to have a fun rwd car like this but still need the ability to fit 1 or 2 kids in a pinch as our main vehicle is a wagon. Definitely not the most practical car but it's good to see it can work! Thanks for this video.

    I own a 2024 GR86 and I down shift rev match no problem. Maybe the gr86 is different. I hardly even notice any rev hang. My engine also responds right away putting my foot down. I’ve owned a lot of sports cars and there are definitely way worse rev hanging cars. Try a WRX or a Mustang. Way worse than these cars

    • @boldcitycc

      I have a GR86 as well. Throttle response is quick due to the throttle mapping in these. I do find smooth shifts to second challenging. Like I have to try. I have owned many manual transmission, cars, and this one is by far the hardest modulate the clutch any car ever owned. My 1987 MRI, and my 93 MR2. shifted silky smooth. Same for my 1997 Camry, my two Honda Civic, and a Honda Accord I had.

    Super solid review, I own a 2022 auto and the main things I can agree with is the rev hang, it's speed and engine noise. The FA24 seems to make a lot of ticking and clicky noises, you just gotta accept it for what it is lmfao. The automatic for this car sucks too, even in manual mode it takes a good half second or even second to shift when you use paddles, really not responsive at all. Still love the thing to death though but lord do I wish it was just a LITTLE quicker

    • @tyrantrex734

      Shame you got the slush box auto. I get it for ease of driving, but why get one of the last "cheap" pure sports cars if you don't want to actually DRIVE it? I drove the 2024 MT and Auto before getting the MT. The Auto is garbage unless its in "track mode", and it still shifts at weird times and clearly doesn't get anywhere near the proper performance out of the car. The paddle shifters are crazy sluggish. It feels like at least a half second delay.

      @@tyrantrex734 I’m with you man, I commute almost 400 miles a week in heavy traffic so I didn’t want to constantly be shifting. Thanks for the kind words! For me, those negatives weren't something I could get over after a few years of ownership and I did sell it when Carvana gave me more than I paid for it. The pedal response from factory is not good. I added a pedal commander and it transformed the car. I took the clutch spring out very early on as well and enjoy that over stock. I too struggle going from 1st to 2nd. It's almost like it grabs harder at that point for some reason. I have also lowered the clutch pedal a bit which seems to help. I average 30mpg calculated, 32.4 on the trip meter daily driving. I do try to get good milage most of the time.

    Thanks for an objective review. Both have strong points and some weak points, and they are closely matched in feature sets. The AndroidAuto/Apple Carplay issue is REALLY a miss on the Telluride BUT the Honda has the smaller and strangely placed info center screen. The Telluride does come with some features that have to be optioned on the Pilot, but the Pilot comes with proven Honda engineering and reliability. Both however, are fine SUVs for this segment. What I do find amusing is in some comments you'll get "Kia all the way!!" or "Honda is SOOO much better" when in reality they are very closely matched in engineering aspects, refinement, and comfort. It all comes down to personal preference. That said, within the next few months I intend to buy....... one or the other. LOL! Gotcha!!! Still doing my research.

    Agree on most points, Drew. I do feel the Telluride's front seats are more comfortable overall and are a little deeper (I'm 6'4"). What has convinced me to go with the Pilot is dealership experiences. The Kia sales people have been poor to actually ignorant, even before getting to the market adjustment conversation. I've been in 7 Kia dealerships, all with bad, bad attitudes. To be fair, Honda is not what it once was, in this respect. But overall, I felt liked I'd been slimed when I left the Kia dealers and I don't want to wonder what my service experience will be like at Kia. Most of the Honda sales people I experienced were average to excellent. Good luck with your new Pilot!

      @SabeySu182 Рік тому

      Out of curiosity, did you take any steps regarding the depth of the front Pilot seats? I'm the same height, and the best I can do is tilting the rear back a bunch to give my butt an extra inch or two to push back. The driver seat is OK with the front height tilt adjustment, but that passenger seat can get pretty rough. Maybe some kind of thigh support/extender cushion? I just can't think of anything that wouldn't block the seat heating/ventilation function in the process, which would be a huge bummer...

    I respect your decision, and your analysis on the two…my wife and I went with Telluride we got the SX Prestige X-Pro, I didn’t even realize the pilot got facelift in 2023, my wife and I steered away from Honda because of the price…but after doing some research this morning surprisingly both top trims are about the same price…we were looking for a van but every time we saw one it was out of our price range….here in southern Cali Hondas tend to be about 10 to 15k more than other companies…MSRP For a top trim pilot was about 53k same for the telluride…we got a Telluride..had for about 3 weeks now, we enjoy it hopefully it remains reliable but only time will tell…the warranty is 10yr/100k and we got the expanded one for bumper to bumper to include electronics 10yr/100k too, Kia-Hyundai/Honda/Toyota vehicles are the best bang for the buck…it comes down to preference and how well you maintain your vehicles….Enjoy your pilot🙂

    Great comparison, Drew. It is so difficult to draw conclusions with modern suvs. A simple design fault which this Honda tech has pointed out is the poorly positioned gear selector which is right next to the cup holders. If you do drink coffee, it will spill onto your gears and cause a short at one point or another. More design issues here: ua-cam.com/video/Wn-2iF7iQsg/v-deo.html

      Thanks! I saw that video too - I would prefer it not have the buttons next to the cup holders. Glad there are some other options in the doors for cups and storage though. One thing I wonder about in that design issues video is the premise that the rotors are going to be prone to warping quickly. This was an issue on the previous gen and other Hondas but the '23 Pilot got bigger rotors. I wonder if that tech knows that and/or if it will make a difference in longevity.
