Using an iPad with external hardware for music production- part 4: Elektron syntakt and Loopy Pro
Note: The 4th track not responding was because it hadn't been mapped going out the way and I would like to update the steps here:
Step 1: manually assign the midi channel and cc number in loopy pro fader/gadget as shown in the video.
Step 2: Now you can use the midi-learn function in loopy pro to complete the 2 way midi control.
This video is the final video in my workflow series. We look at how to set up and iPad to process audio and set up bi-directional midi control in a custom control surface designed using Loopy Pro.

This started as me taking a field recorder out on my lunch break one day to sample some stuff when I met a colleague at a cafe and asked her to sing something into my mic. Just wish AUM would do external midi clock. I use the DT2 with AUM and a a virus snow for synth duties. AUM for effects. DT2 powered by powerbank using bird cord. Works great. Snow uses another bank with ripcord. Faderfox UC4 runs off same bank. Play in a field. Just add speakers.

      @@johncarter2741 your setup sounds amazing! How you liking the mk2 Digitakt? Thank you for the interesting video!!! : ) I want to get my first Behringer synth and I'm wondering if I should get the Crave or the Edge ... What would you recommend for a fist synth?

    • @streetdoghanoi
      @streetdoghanoi Місяць тому

      @@BPEMETO actually my favorite is the model D, is just a monster synth. The Crave I had and is good for melodic stuff and the Edge for noise/techno. Honestly if it’s your first synth buy used and save for a Minilogue XD. It’s amazing and it’s polyphonic. That’s where I started and the logical layout of the panel plus the fact is has great onboard fx just let me get lost in noise and understand synths. But if you must chose between the two you listed you’ll learn more from the crave but you’ll explore more in the edge.

    • @BPEMETO
      @BPEMETO Місяць тому

      @@streetdoghanoi Thanks for the reply! The thing that I want to do with the synths is mostly without an external keyboard so I'm not that interested in cords and polyphony that much. I want just to turn knobs and make interesting patterns and sequences and rhythm... Like in our video. : ) I just bought Arturia Keylab Esential 49 mk3 and it comes with a lot of software synths so I'll get this kind of sounds that way. : ) By the way when I get the Crave and the Edge and may be the TD-3-MO ... should I look into buying Model D or Neutron?

    • @streetdoghanoi
      @streetdoghanoi Місяць тому

      @@BPEMETO can’t speak for the Neutron (heard it’s awesome) but everyone should try the Model D, it’s just one of the best synths and you need good bass which it delivers so it has a place in your list.

      @@streetdoghanoi Hi. Sorry to bother you again, but I just found out about Arturia MiniBrute 2S The price is less than the Crave and the Neutron together. Would you say that it is the better choice to start with semi-modular synths?

    • @streetdoghanoi
      @streetdoghanoi Місяць тому

      @@BPEMETO wow I’d never even heard of it hit a brief skim on google tells me it’s wild. I think it’s a good option but I’m speaking based on looking at the panel, you have to decide if you like the sound because at the end of the day the sound is the most important thing.

      Thank you dude! The sample I used was a simple saw preset from an arp odyssey app but a saw is a saw and this patch is easy to recreate. Some gear is technically appropriate to a task and works well in most use cases but sometimes there’s gear that is just made to go in journeys with. This is one of those. Hadn’t had that feeling since I jammed out a korg Arp Odyssey.

      Hey dude thank you for that! Honestly this was a day two of owning it jam and you can see me turning dials that aren’t affecting stuff because I don’t fully understand it when I recorded this. I actually sold it on because I keep a kinda gear in gear out policy so the hobby doesn’t cost me too much money but I did really like the Edge, I just can’t see me using it in a live scenario. My only intention for this one was to max that bpm clock and see what noises I could get out of it, I dunno, I just felt it maxed out at a high enough speed to do some cool stuff, the rest is pure exploration. Check out my other stuff if you like this though dude, I make a lot of unnecessarily long jam videos 😂

      I think so also, it’s use case is very focused to percussive noises but it can be pushed much further than that. I’m looking forward to the last of the Moog Stufio clones being released (the Spice) as that was always the most interesting of the trịo for me.
