Best Memorial Day Speech Ever!!!!
Переглядів 752 тис.16 років тому
On May 26, 2008, SGT Raymond Hubbard, (a survivor of a rocket attack in Baghdad that amputated his left leg and severed his carotid artery resulting in a stroke from blood loss.) Gave his most heartfelt speech to date. Speaking about his fallen comrades, his family's military history, and what the nation needs to do for it's soldiers, by the end their was not a dry eye in the crowd.

    President George W. Bush made our invasion of Iraq a sham, ridiculous. First, he gave Iraq 6 months advance warning we were coming. Second, he changed the Reason three times in those 6 months. Our patriots, our military people still went, but too many paid the ultimate price while the rest had their lives permanently altered. Listening to Sgt. Hubbard breaks my heart while at same time thankful we have such fine people keeping us free & trying to help others to be. Thank you Sgt., It took courage to speak here & you have honored your father, your country & especially yourself.

    Those who gave a dislike are sadly just ignorant. Ignorant of history. They went to war because their country needed them. But if you ask, rarely anyone of them wanted to fight. They did so because they wanted to keep any conflict away from this country. They sacrificed for all of us. Even giving the "dislikes" the right to disagree. This reaction is so selfish, and that is why I feel so sorry for them.

    I'm sorry, but why is he wearing gold SGT insignia on his shirt collar? NCO's wear shoulder boards UNDER their Class A jacket, per AR 670-1. His top button is also unbuttoned. Where is the combat patch on his right shoulder? Also, what is that red chord on his left shoulder? Anyone know about that? I know that this may seem in appropriate, but I'm just confused. This might be unpopular, but has anyone verified that this is the actual person? This isn't a stolen valor situation is it? I know of several military heroes that make sure their uniform is tight prior to giving a speech. A proper uniform honors those who have worn it before, even if this young man is a hero himself.

    • @garyaroth
      @garyaroth 8 років тому

      I would assume that you are referencing DA PAM 670-1 dated 1 July 2015, correct? Chapter 21 covers the wear of insignia, and you will see on page 169 that it states, “All specialists and below will wear the non-subdued, pin-on grade insignia on the service uniform shirts, black all-weather coat, and windbreaker.” For our SGT in the video, he should be wearing the shoulder marks as found on page 173 of DA PAM 670-1. As it states, “Shoulder marks are worn by all personnel in the rank of corporal and above on the shoulder loops of the service uniform shirts, the maternity shirt, the black unisex cardigan, and the black pullover cardigan. Non-commissioned officers wear shoulder marks on the all-weather coat and the windbreaker.” Furthermore, this Soldier has taken the time to sew on his combat “hashmarks”, which signify 6 months of deployment in a combat zone. He has two, which would indicate at least a year of deployment. If he took the time to sew those on, then he should have taken the time to sew on his combat patch. As you can see, this NCO is not in proper uniform and it’s unfortunate.

    • @garyaroth
      @garyaroth 8 років тому

      Yes, Commanders are authorized to make additions in local settings. Adding the collar rank seems illogical, as DA PAM 670-1 already states that NCO's will wear the shoulder boards (marks). Rank is clearly displayed on the sleeve, so I think that this Soldier is just plain wrong. Cannot see any justification here for this particular problem. Someone should have looked him over.

    • @Plonkie99
      @Plonkie99 8 років тому

      +Gary Roth You pointed out the uniform regs were dated July 2015. You do realise the video was posted in 2008 so maybe it changed. Also that 'rope' is called a lanyard I only know the British uses for lanyards (passing courses etc.)Finally who gives about uniform reg 670-whatever, he is broadcasting a very important message and that is by far more important than the state of his uniform. This was memorial or as we call it Remembrance Day, he has fought alongside my county's troops and that is enough for me.

    • @garyaroth
      @garyaroth 7 років тому

      Not out of line. Accurate. Others properly wear the uniform and so should this young man. I made my point clear and to concise.

    With all due respect to our veterans, it is actually scientists, engineers, and mathematicians that are responsible for our freedom. Patton made a statement suggesting that to protect our freedom requires getting enemy soldiers to die or sacrifice for their country. It does not take sacrifice to press a button hundreds of miles away in order to launch a Tomahawk missile or remotely operate a drone or other UAVs.

      The Wise One Apparently so. Scientists and Engineers have giving the U.S. military asymmetric capabilities since the civil war. When two armies are symmetric, victory in battle will depend mostly on the skill, courage, and stradegy of it's military. During WWII, German rocket and aircraft scientists and engineers allowed Germany to defeat France and severely weaken the U.K. After the War, both the U.S. military and the Soviet military sought to acquire the German rocket scientists and engineers. U.S. bombers were destroyed by the hundreds until Mustangs were fitted with high powered rolls-royce engines. The U.S. landing on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day were made possible by a British mathematician and engineers who decrypted German Enigma machines. U.S. mathematicians and scientists also decypted Enigma machines and generated false information to separate German army divisions in order to increase successful landing of U.S. troops on D-Day. In the pacific, many U.S. ships were destroyed and Japanese pilots were unstoppable until scientists and engineers developed a more precise delayed fuse. Japanese only surrendered with the dropping of atomic weapons saving approximately a million U.S. infantry soldiers, the Manhattan atomic scientists were hailed as heroes by the U.S. public. The U.S. military spends billions on a few hundred DARPA scientists every year for very good reasons.

      one-scientist's-pov Your science is useless without us grunts on the front line. Drones can be intercepted. Mutual Assured Destruction prevents someone from dropping a bomb on your little drone command center. And Mr. Scientist your drone is useless unless you want to take out 1 terrorist leader and 25 innocent civilians. Nothing will ever replace the ingenuity and adaptability of the United States Soldier. For you to even say a word is cowardly. You hide in a lab making weapons that kill from the comfort of an air conditioned well defended building, when you have the courage to be in the thick of things, then we can hear your opinions on who is important to war efforts. And seeing how the Russians new missile can travel 5 times the speed of sound and defeat any defensive setup we currently have global, you DARPA fools better get on the ball. Your intelligence center is a hell of a lot of a better target than my FOB. Compare combat casualties. IN OUR ENTIRE HISTORY. I think we dish out more than we have ever took. We fight to defend each other so I have no idea where this inability to protect is coming from. No enemy has ever landed on our soil. Sounds like a bunch of losers around the water cooler talking each other's self importance up to me, for you to even say what you did. Coward. Pathetic coward. I can tag 25 targets at 350 meters with a 30 round magazine. I don't have to worry about technical difficulties. Like when my drone runs out of juice. I can tie a tourniquet, perform battlefield first aid, call in Artillery coordinates, navigate, perform weapon PMC, and can assume control in a shit situation. What do your skills consist of? Stuff taught in a classroom? Won't do you a lick of good in a war zone foreign or a riot domestic.
