Torn down for apartments. It's my understanding that Cypress Acres Estate was built using some of the materials from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. It's a shame this stunning home wasn't purchased and moved for residential, community or govt use. No one seems to care about history or architecture anymore.
My mom grew up there in the 30's through the 50's. She has really fun stories about it. Using the upper ballroom to rollerskate. They had 5 cocker spaniel dogs all named Duke, or something like that. They had a pet spider monkey, and her dad grew banana and citrus trees in the basement. It was a gigantic property and loads of fun! Thanks for posting this video. Sure makes my brothers and I want it back in the fam again.
