Linux Kernel Configuration Of A Running Kernel Via Script 2024_07_01_02:13:34
don't make your terminal 200 chars wide, it's unnecessary and makes the video unreadable on a small screen.
I'm learning about initrd and initramfs and I want to ask someone experienced if my understanding of this is correct or not: initrd basically loads a minimal block filesystem with the bare essentials needed to establish connections between the kernel and peripheral devices and networking chips and stuff. And since it's a block filesystem it needs to be mounted first into RAM before reading it. initramfs on the other hand is not a filesystem but a compressed .tar file (like zip in windows) hence it need not be mounted before unpacking it. Instead it's directly unpacked into RAM and is accessible there. It does a similar job to that of initrd but more efficiently since no mounting is involved here.
It about right...but, few points, initrd(<2.4 kernel) is deprecated in favor of initramfs(>2.6 kernel). The purpose of the two are almost similar. Both are inflated in RAM during boot to assist the kernel to measure the system resources.
@@unixbhaskar thanks a lot for the clarification 😊
very nice video
Thanks
this really helped me a lot keep doing what you have been doing bro.
Glad it helped!
Hello Bhaskar.. would u able to make a video on how to install and configure mutt considering the latest authentication issues in gmail and Hotmail ?
Any specific changes they made? Could you let know
I really love your emacs tutorial series❤
Nice.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video! I'm just learning emacs and I was confused about the different libraries since I'm not that far in reading the manual yet.
Glad it was helpful!
Which side you on :/ Vim or the Emacs? Beside both are gems 🙈
I am a technologist and shouldn't be biased towards anything that technical. I have been using both of them vigorously for a long long time. Both of them have their pros and cons. I pick up any of them at any given time with a split of a second impulse in my brain, honestly. :)
@@unixbhaskar thank you mr Bhaskar delightful as always. Really having hard times picking one that can go well with Android iOS Windows and Linux alongwith encryption. Sadly stuck with an electron app called Joplin.
Hey ...hey ...that terminal borking was my fault as I forgot to put a specific flag to my editor variable in git aliases. All you have to do , in this case Vim with a -o flag.
The loss of music from time 4:18 onwards because of this : Audio/Video desynchronisation detected! Possible reasons include too slow hardware, temporary CPU spikes, broken drivers, and broken files. Audio position will not match to the video (see A-V status field). Consider trying `--profile=fast` and/or `--hwdec=auto-safe` as they may help.
Your audio is really quiet
@@maplepenguin8568 Really????? How about the increase your machine volumes? Did you try that?
@@unixbhaskar I have yes, just normally don't need to do that, and it means I have to turn it down after the video. I don't normally need to adjust my volume. I suggest comparing your video's audio with a larger channel's there's a stark difference.
"I suggest comparing your video's audio with a larger channel's there's a stark difference." I just don't care what others are doing this space,. That is not my job.
Correction: Those asterisk beside the file name signifies, those are having execution bit set.
I don't quite follow why the frame on the left is in terminal mode and the frame on the right is graphical mode. Didn't you spawn the right hand from from terminal mode?
Nope I didn't. That's different keystrokes binded in my window manager to brings up the GUI version of Emacs client. Likewise, the terminal version has the dedicated keybind with my window manager to bring it up. What's point of doing it by hand??
@@unixbhaskar Oooh I see
Bonus points for viewing what appears to be a git repo for Vim within Emacs.😃
That's useful
Thanky you
wow
That annoying "tik-tik" sound in the background irritate me like anything and I haven't yet found the cause of it. If you have come across exactly like this annoyance, do let me know to mitigate the damn thing. ....irks....I wasn't doing anything with the mic or making any sound except key presses .....wondering 🤔...IMPORTANT: I have said, Consult, it is supposed to be Counsel.
Check out Catppuccin! 😄
Thanks Bhaskarda
I'd like ti interject for a moment...what you're referring to as j(eez)-news is actually g(of give)...news 😂 wonderful rare video.

Quick question, I can add a file to EMMS with emms-add-file but adding a directory with emms-add-directory-tree errors out with "No First Track" even though there are ogg and mp3 files in there that work with the add file command. Have you ever experienced this by chance?
Nope, I haven't.
thanks alot but please the calendar could not display, pls help
What exactly the error you are getting? Could you share?
@@unixbhaskar oh ok , rectified.
Which vim command you are using to highlight the text while writing regex?
Not specifically anything special ...although you can see that highlighting part by getting into ex prompt and type :hi and you can pretty easy customize it in your vimrc to get highlight you want.
Thank you Bhaskar. Even though building a binary package by hand may be too cumbersome to be practical, it's still super useful to know that there's no magic involved. Just the filesystem payload and a single control file. Nice!
Pleasure and glad you like it.

I have remapped CTRL to caps lock. It has solved my strain issues.
Normal US QWERTY keyboard.
Are the website links even necessary? Can it do more than right arrows and two arrows pointing to one circle? Is there any better documentation?

Please look into my github dofiles repo and you will find the dot emacs config here.

Virtual Addresses.
Very handy plugin
Glad you like it.
Nice video. I looked at your vimrc and notice you use shortcuts, Maybe do a video on that? perhaps you have already?
Yes,I have and IIRC the title of the video could be something like “vim help”
it's lisp, not lips : )

Nice tip. Just a heads up: I think you need to modify some of your microphone settings; your voice is barely hearable, and I use all sorts of plugins to boost the sound to be able to hear you
I really want to use mutt but I can't get any email to work, and there is nothing but outdated video's on how to configure it.
Alright, let me show or point what have you tired this far. Then we can discuss further about it.
Thank you sir! While in the gdb debugger is it possible to change file?
