Millwall FC I have a lot of respect for, I've been to the old cold blow Lane twice with Leeds United as I'm a LUFC fan, and with all this crap about having you moved to where ever what's that all about ? Anyway I've written a couple of letters in the past giving support with the court cases that are going on. Millwall is London in my book so London without Millwall crazy, your borough council think to much of money not about communities. memories of old keep them in mind long live Millwall. LUFC.....
The old den was a fantastic football ground a fortress when we played at home 59 games unbeaten at home ended by plymouth argyle i use to stand on the terraces with dockers and the banter was good and a laugh i miss it till this day i used to watch the wrestling on tv hosted by kent walton then leave and thumb a lift through rotherhithe tunnel to get to the old den they was the good old days at the den
I never visited the old den but have been to the present stadium and first went there in 1994 or 1995. It's a well built stadium and stands out much more than most of the new ones today. Terry Hurlock was a Millwall legend, but he was originally a West ham reject!
However you could never emulate and encapsulate the passion and atmosphere of The OLD Den though ! West Ham was very good at times but in a midweek fixture against meaningful opposition nothing came close to the intensity and partisanship engendered by Millwall's beloved old stadium. Primarily why Millwall went 59 Home league games without defeat between1964/66 breaking the existing League record. . My first match was 1962 and I can't stand the soulless, silent, sanitised modern stadia.
NINE YEARS LATER............and the sentiment still remains. Watching this,I was just imagining standing there again,a totally different experience to sitting throughout the game. In fact, last Saturday the Woman sitting in front of me complained that I was giving a "running commentary" when I was urging the lads on. Makes you weep for what we had.. See you again in another 9 years,in 2032,when I will be 78...
