What is the price and would you recommend as a first bike?

Great question @rogerdroid42 , the msrp on that particular hypermotard is $20k. Not a price point I would say is first bike territory. Now if you have spent a bit of time on a dirt bike and want a relative linear transition, and have the dough to drop then yeah. - Tim

Luckily for me this wasn't a race, it was a "Taste of Racing" event (hot laps) and that "nope" at the end was me acknowledging my speed was to slow and I pulled off the track - luckily the exit was just a few turns later. I was doing much better before going off road, nerves got the better of me (nearly high siding earlier in the day didn't help) and I kept slowing down to "be polite" which contributed to my departure from the course. @@TheDucatiDads I've never been on a track, so jealous, but I've went 131 mph on surface streets. At that point the public rode is suspect I potholes and uneven surfaces. The track is smooth so your supposed to start getting aggressive. I take it you don't have much experience in the canyons. That is where I got the feel for the lean you don't have to go super fast. I started with a wicked stwisty canyons you pretty much can't get out of 2nd your basically riding between 23 and 37 mph but it's very challenging and you'll learn to shift you weight back and forth and decrease your bikes lean angle, then learn to master trail breaking and you'll feel more confident.

There was a few unfortunate, and startling incidents that led to this for Mike. Mike is a good rider with very good instincts. Your first track day, you realize that what you thought you knew was nothing. Check out our mt saint Helen’s video, and Tim’s first time on track video. - Tim

I did pull off after this happened to settle my nerves and check my pants, it was my second close call of the day so I was a little shaken! ~Mike

It was my first time on track so I was nervous all over, and I am used to rev matching so I didn't use the clutch when trying to re-engage the gear. Since it was in neutral between 2nd and 3rd I needed to shift back into gear but... I should have waited til after the turn and I should have gone up to 3rd not down for 2nd. And yeah, using the clutch would have really helped preventing the scare. ~Mike

@@TheDucatiDads well, you could have also put it back in second and finished the turn without getting bucked, and not carrying too much speed. My thought process is, it’s better to bog it out than to slide it out. Second, 2nd gear seems like the correct gear to take the corner if you were at full speed and lean, so get used to keeping it in 2nd, and just bring up the entry speed a little if you feel comfortable. Taking turns in 1st gear is pretty dangerous because the gear is so short. So best to stick to 2nd and not risk any surprises.

@@TheDucatiDads Ya when shifting early/mid-corner, you gotta be slow and smooth to not upset the rear-end.

He fell into a false neutral accidentally shifting mid corner. When he went back into gear it caused the tire to slide almost high siding. - Tim

@@TheDucatiDads I was using a MacBook Pro. However, I ended up only spot-checking the video with the sound off as it wasn't really possible to differentiate between two voices plus music. I'm doing my first trackday early next month so I was trying to get some videos of new riders and what to expect.

I edit on a MacBook Pro. I would suggest using headphones. That’s what I was using when I set the levels. In future videos I will dial back the music some.

The supersport is a good platform. I learned on it as well. Then I bought the Streetfighter V4S like 7 months later -Tim

Yeah but Tim had dirtbike experience, I had ZERO minutes of seat time on a motorcycle... but it was pretty easy to learn on, the rider aids tone it down and really help tame the beast. ~Mike
