Back in January, Janey and Fi set out on an attempt to ride the Capital Trail in one push - a 240km bike packing route around Edinburgh, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders, normally tackled over three steady days. With 5200m of climbing and 17 hours of darkness coupled with winter conditions under tyre, they certainly had their work cut out. Give the video a watch to find out how they got on...

awesome video! What size chain ring and cog was used? Also what size cranks?
Im 5 foot 10 would i be best on medium or large? Might buy one of these. Was looking at the Amflow
Hi Mark, I would think Large would be the most likely option for you. The ideal thing would be to either sit on or or demo one of course. That's always the best way to find out as there is a lot of personal preference when it comes to bike sizing. We do have a demo bike in that size if you were able to get up this way ever. Thanks, Neil
my right ear enjoyed the audio ><
Good review, but you need a proper wireless microphone...
unfortunately the voice sounds like it comes from a tin can.
Hey, sick build ! Thinking of doing a similar build. What frame size did he go with and how tall is he ? I’m ride size M but wondering if sizing down would be good for strictly DJ. Cheers from Van island 🇨🇦
It's a size small. Luke is about 180cm tall.
New to the MTB world. Looking for an all-rounder bike that excels in various terrains. Would you recommend this bike? What's a fair price to pay for it in 2024?
can i put 180mm travel fork?
You sure can, Santa Cruz recommend a fork from 170 to 180mm on this bike.
Simples e direto ao ponto. Belo vídeo e excelente roteiro de cenas!

Giant cherry head.
Which data acquisition system do you use?
That was the Motion Instruments setup
Great stuff, Adrian the TVB head technician is an incredibly smart guy(and also fast AF himself).. there isn't much about bikes he doesn't know. You guys going to become an official öhlins service centre?
Nice build! Just have a question you might be able to answer: Did the frame require any work before assembly began? Ream or facing the headset or bb? Thanks
These Ibis frames come to us ready to build so all the facing is done to a high level during the frame assembly stage. We will always inspect a frame before we starting building and have all the tooling in our workshop incase we need to do it.
The Fox jersey, plus the snow and mud SCREAMS Brass Monkeys Winter Series, circa 1998!! Rad.
What is the single speed kit the chain tensioner? Rad setup man!
Hey, this is a Reverse Colab Chain Tensioner, they work really well with full suspension bikes. hope this helps.
Nice build! Does he rides clipless only for races?
Legend !
i like ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is that bomber z1 150 or 160mm?
Does anyone know where to buy that specific frame decal? I looked all over but could not find one that looked like that one.
Hey, the decals are from Invisi Frame, they offer a custom decal service, drop them an email and they will be able to help you out. Thanks
NL designs also has some pretty funky decals.
is it matt or gloss invisaframe?
Hey, we fitted a matt kit onto this 5010. It looked incredible.
Nice edit!
Wish I can have one too.
Great film and fantastic effort from both of you. Now inspired to ride capital trail in a over but not in Winter.
Overpriced lor,,,,,,
Congrats
Hi
Can't wait to finally ride Scotland...thanks for the video!
Sick rider, great to see Santa Cruz supporting him.
Great film, and great effort riding it in winter conditions. Nice to see the Capital Trail inspiring such adventures!
Hi bro ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi bro ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍🔥🔥👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This looks amazing! I would love to bikepack this on my juliana joplin. FYI went to Innerleithen Feb 2020 ( right before it all started). Fell in love with the mtn biking ( although you had a blizzard so a fat bike would have been better choice). That was also when I discovered Findra mtn biking shorts!!!! and of course Peebles st. cafe!!
Well done, amazing accomplishment. Not sure I could do that on an E-MTB.
Long time in the saddle! I would be interested in a video on your kit, what you needed for food and nutrition. Where you get your water and how not to get a sore bum. Also, how do you keep your lights charged?
Haha, I guess not getting a sore bum is making sure you have a saddle that fits well. We also use Rapha bibs which are the best we've found out there - didn't have any issues but have had lots of problems in the past! For food, generally just eating more than you think you need to if it's your first time on something big is the way to go. I ate a mix of homemade rice balls with nuts/seeds/fruit in them, mix of trail bars and some Haribo. Eating small amounts often, generally every 30 minutes - you do need to carry a lot. Water was much more challenging as nothing was open during the night. We stocked up in shops during the day, drank lots at Portobello, then had to do the remaining 13 hours on just 1litre of water each - to be honest it wasn't ideal. As for lights - carry extra batteries. We each had 1 x Hope R2i and 1 x Hope R4+. For the R4+ we had one 4 cell battery and a spare 2 cell battery in our packs. We ran one light on the bar on the minimum setting the entire time, and swapped them out when they went flat. The hope lights run for a surprisingly long time when they're flashing red. Will do our best to share some content of kit etc. Cheers, Janey

dream bike
😍😍😍
wish to have one😍❤🙏
Love your video 👍
Wow what a gorgeous build 😍 bike looks spot on 👌 Is that a 20mm single spacer under the Mk3 stem?
It is indeed a single 20mm carbon spacer - good spot!
@@tweedvalleybikes thanks, I was curious. I didn't see specs on Burgtec's site for the thickness of each spacer in their kits. I figured 15 or 20 👍
