Welcome to TCB garage. My name is Morgan and I found the inspiration to start this channel after finishing the restoration of my 1974 corvette. My goal is to grow this channel into mostly restoration work on older cars that will not only be enjoyed by people from my generation but hopefully inspire our younger generation to do the same. To pass on the knowledge and enjoyment of a hobby I feel is being lost by our youth.

Might do a side by side video with yours to check out my rust bucket. I have a feeling it will fail on all accounts, haha. Not sure if I'll do that on PyroJason or TrashProp but that's just some notes for myself so I can find this later. Thanks for the video!

I have a tremendous amount of heat from the engine into the cockpit. How do I block the heat from coming into the cockpit?
There are several companies that make material that will stick to the floor and block heat from coming into the cabin. I found a similar material at Lowe's that is used for HV/AC ductwork at about a quarter of the price.
What a top level job you've done on this video and showing the important areas. I plan to get a C3 once I sell my British Triumph TR6. Lov the C3's and will enjoy it once I get it. Thanks
Good luck with your search.
Detach battery before attempting. Be gentle. Dash can crack easily in these old corvettes.
You're right they can but thankfully mine's been replaced. 👍
Just now doing rear bearings. Was ready for a fight. Surprised at how easy it is. The special tools required come with the rebuild kit. Kit is 115 to 300. Takes about 2 hours a side. Also need a dial indicator for end play.
Dope vid i hope to see this channel grow
Excellent tutorial on the C3 ...
Thank you.
Great vid my man.
Thank you
Was interesting
Did you have any issues with runout using the different spindles with the old rotors?
How did you get the torque converter bolts limed up when installing? Have an 2016 only access is through the starter mount area so extremely small area and having a difficult time getting the four bolts back in no way to turn the flex plate other than crankshaft nut. Then try to line up but even trying to get the torque converter lined up after motor is in place seems the flex plate isnt lining up and you cant turn the torque converter itself behind the flex plate once the motor is all the way in Help cry😢
When installing the motor you want to try to make sure you have one of the torque converter holes lined up with the starter opening. You should be able to spin the flywheel to the torque converter hole. Install one bolt but don't tighten it all the way , then you should be able to spin the flywheel around to install the remaining bolts. Hope this helps.👍
I got lucky. I got a 75 I didn't know anything. I restored it my car was in great shape. I put a a crate engine front summit. Supention & mount new.
😢
Video was late for my c3 Bought it and never drove it again
Sorry to hear that.
You're video just helped me out big time. I didn't know exactly how to do the bushings at the end of the trailing arm connecting to the leaf spring till I saw how you had yours. Thank you.
Great video dude I have a 75 thats mint matching numbers engine and manuel engine.
Is this a 1980?
It's a 74.
Maybe you should tell them dont do drugs instead
Don't do drugs?
Fake news
Fake news?🤔
Nice video. Tho your rear left jack was off ground a bit
Im thinking of doing the same thing to my c3, what was the rear end you have with the th400? My car is about 3000 rpm at 60 with the th400 and i hate the high rpm at that speed. Im thinking i have a 4.10 rear or something close to that. Thinking of tranny swapping or rear end swapping undecided
At the time of the swap I had a 3.08 gears and at 70 mph rpms dropped to 2k. I've since installed 3.70 gears and run 2,200k rpm at 70mph
@@TCBGARAGE gotcha, thanks for the info!
No problem, thanks for watching.
How did you jack up the car?
Yeah I've seen that. 😳
Great video. I may buy a 76 vette from a guy who brought the car in 1989. At that time i brought a 1976 Datsun 280 Z from him and he brought the vette. I may end of buying his 76 because he picked up a 1981 C3. I will check the birdcage. Your car is clean...
Thanks, good luck on your purchase.
Great video and timing.
Who else saw that spider AT 9:15 bottom left corner lollololol
I'm doing a 2004 swap on my 71. It's got a th400 right now. What stall speed torque converter did you end up using? Thanks Great series of videos. Watched them multiple times.
Yup for sure, let my guard down last winter and was host to mice in the cuddies, signs of them in the engine compartment and under the dash. Chewed up some of the rag style insulation but very luckily nothing else. Good tip on the spray and bounce sheets, I’ll add them to my trap line :) and be more diligent!
For the love of god, please disconnect the battery!
Nice car! I grew up with these my brother had a brand new 76 with red leather and a 4 spd. Great tips thanks new sub!😊
Wrong way of doing the bushings thay need to be preset 😮out
What good is it to make the video if your not going to show the hole way of doing it you SUCK
Very Informative !!! thanks for your effort
at 6;14 crossmember to frame bolt missing.
Gotta be a elvis fan Great vid TCB BABY👍👍
Hey, I'm a 63 and I want to know if I could fit in like a 1979 Corvette. I'm looking at 1 to but my son says I'm too tall to be in one to drive it.
Good job explaining it, last time 1996 when I did set up Back then just Manual's no you tube 👍
This video was great! I just brought home a 1970 c3
Good video, nice to see what a C3 in good shape looks like and important places to look when inspecting one for purchase
40 years old is a factor
Excellent video. Bird cage rust is the biggest issue because its so hidden and so expensive to fix. Rust free late 70's C3's are great resto-mod project cars. You can typically get them for way less than the earlier C3's and you're not hurting resale value if you do a motor swap because those engines are garbage anyway.
All true. Thanks for watching.
Hehe in Germany they install Mercedes 560SEC or 6.3 liter engines in the Corvette frame because the Small block sucks on Autobahn, we even have one guy here around with a 6.9 litre 450SEL OHC V8 engine. That is a fast corvette C3 its at least as quick as Ferrari Daytona !!!
@@Schlipperschlopper Years ago before my wife passed, we used to talk about making a trip to Germany see her tante and her cousins (her mother was from Bayern). I used to tell her that I wanted to rent a high performance car for one day and tear up the Autobahn LOL.
@@GTX1123Sadly due to the stupid greens here from 2027 on there will only be electric cars and a speed limit of 130 Km/H on Autobahn and 30 KM/H in all cities.
@@Schlipperschlopper Wow. Well there is still hope. Electric vehicles are a huge scam. They are the epitome of the other lies and propaganda the globalists gaslight the naive and gullable with. People here in the U.S., Europe and in Australia are starting to wake up from this nightmare and they're pushing back. A very near future of outrageous energy prices in Europe will eventually take its toll. When the people take back their govt's, there will be huge changes. They're already starting to realize the earth isn't going to burn up, electric cars expend more energy and their batteries are more of an environmental threat than petroleum powered cars. We went through one round of fuel shortages here in the states back in the mid 1970's through the late 1980's. But in the 90's powerful V8's made a comeback with SUV's all the rage and the Mustang and Camaro then eventually the Dodge Challenger being reintroduced. In Germany there should ALWAYS be all manner of high performance cars screaming down the Autobahn at high speed. One day I wanted to go there and rent a vintage 1980's Porche 911 one day and then a classic 928S the next and take them out on the Autobahn. Classic car people here in the states LOVE those classic 1980's Porches.
Great work. How did it turn out??
Everything turned out great, new motor ran good and sold the car after some smaller repairs and cleaning.
How did you buy yours too!!
Got to the end, caint find pt 2. Dows it start
awful music - REALLY annoying
Need to SEE the steps to remove the items etc. NOT just after they're removed . Those steps are MOST important
at 5:10 you noted the control valve on the power steering unit. Everything I have read says do not grease this - but if you do, be very careful. Did you put grease in this? I could not tell because the video cut when you were getting to that point.
Nice i looked at 10 before this one. i have a 77 and totally love it everybody who see it tells me to paint it, the way i see it i can park it any ware with no worries of anyone hitting it with a door, besides it's the shape that makes you feel good not the paint. Mine was a flintstones car i had lots of work and still doing work,, numbers matching car. I have my diff on the bench rite now after this the rear end is new again waiting for summer can't wait. bird cage and frame in excellent shape.
Give it to the migrants.
No you don't because I had mine sent's I was 16 years old and it's loves to give trouble to you I ve been working on mine every year this time it's the back wheel bearings and they are a problem to get out and mine has very low miles on it because I never drove it that much I just kept it in a garage
Thanks for the tips. I'm looking for one now. Doing as much research as possible.
Great video bro.....but geez becareful of that rear jackstand sitting uneven
Thank for watching.
