Short answer: We really don’t know where most of them went. We only know Patricia Partin wound up out in Panamint Valley. The other four kinda ditched her, and maybe all their research and planning to disappear out there was just a way to throw people off their trail? I guess, until someone either finds one of them or one of them comes forward, we may never know? (Which is very much something that a true “witch” might do, right?)

I take full responsibility. I'm still learning how to livestream. (But quick update: I did get to Red Rock Canyon and I think I got some cool content. You really can't NOT come away with cool content in that place. It's really, really cool. Downloading my images now, then into the editing bay for a week or so. But I hope the end result is worth the wait!)

Wow! I had not heard that. I did go to research the 1948 Ojai fire at the Ojai museum and a few local libraries. The only casualty I heard about was a guy in the Arbolada district who crossed the fire line around his house to go back in to get some valuables and he succumbed to smoke inhalation. They found him in a field when the smoke cleared. Poor bastard. If you have a source about the fireman who died, I’d love to see it! Was it in the North Signal area where some of the accounts say Charman became the legend he is today?

Some are there by choice. And I know what you mean about feeling guilty for being so interested. I’ve grappled with that myself. It’s funny though, I’ve resigned myself to accepting that I’m a wanderer of sorts, with a healthy level of intellectual curiosity and fascination for how all sorts of people survive (and sometimes thrive) in the most adverse conditions. @@Deargdoo it’s so bizarre. I didn’t know him well, but he was everywhere in the social media groups I’m in. Kind of omnipresent? He always had funny or insightful shit to say, but I knew very little about him.

What an awesome vehicle. They are super loyal and very trustworthy. I got in trouble in a few places (when I was shooting the Charles Manson stuff) and I decided to at least give it a 2” lift and got some beefier tires. I hope to drive my element till neither one of us runs anymore!
