thank you sir this was very helpful can you do history past papers please
I have learned, from this video, that the Tainos left South America and went into the Caribbean because it had become difficult to sustain the population due to lack of food sources and they were seeking refuge from the Kalinagoes. They were very good sailors and boat builders as it was apart of their culture making it easier for them to travel. Tainos mainly occupied the Greater Antilles while the kalinagos resided in the Lesser Antilles. Mayans occupied Central America. Puerto Rico was shared by the Taino and Kalinago. Taino settlements were overlooking the sea to see if the kalinagos would attack, near rivers, hill lands, and fertile lands. The Tainos used tall cotton trees to build their canoes and traded with other costal sttlements.
This never helped
From this video, I have learned about the reasons and why the tainos had moved from South America the the Caribbean. The places they settled in as well as the settlements of the Kalinagoes and Mayans.
Some points of that stood out to me are: The Tainos saw the islands as a place of refuge from the war like Kalinagos. Kalinagos occupied the islands of the Eastern Caribbean.(no permanent settlement in Barbados) Kalinagos shared Puerto Rico and Trinidad with the Tainos. Mayas occupied central America.(settled in Yucatán Peninsula) Tainos came to theCaribbean first;they were raided by the Kalinagos soon after. Amerindians did not leave out their families.
I have learned various information about the Indigenous people from this informative video. Such things are: The Amerindians left South America to live in the Caribbean. The Kalinago's arrived after the Amerindians and still continued to arrive even when Columbus came to the region. I also came to the realization to the possible reason why the Amerindians migrated: 1. Migration was a integral part of their culture. 2. The population had outgrown the available food source in their homeland and it was difficult to feed. 3. After centuries of cultivation, the soil quality of their homeland has depleted (meaning not enough substance in the soil) hence. food supplies decreased. 4. Changes in climate conditions have affected food supplies negatively. 5. Tainos might have seen the islands as a place of safety from the war like Kalinago's. I also learned that they maintained islands in the Greater Antilles such as: Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and some settled in the Bahamas & Trinidad. Overall this short video had broadens my knowledge and help me to better understand the way of life of the Indigenous people. ~Rheanna Reid
This is a very well put-together video. I like how its displayed in the jamaican language for us to understand it more better. I also like how the demonstrator explain throughout the video making me understanding and others be understanding a little better.
From this video I learned some of the reasons why Amerindians migrated into the Caribbean from South America. One,migration was already an integral part of their culture,a practice that was cultivated from generation to generation. Two,the population had outgrown the available food sources in their homeland and it was difficult to feed everyone,so they were in need of new lands to start new settlements among themselves. Also, the Tainos might have found the Caribbean to be a place of refuge from the Warlike Kalinagos who were pushing northwards in to their territories. While the Kalinagos were in the search for new Taino Targets to pursue.
👍
The British West Indies sugar economy's collapse was due to several factors combining to the collapse, sugar production being done globally and yielding more sugar, the result, sugar prices dropping due the high supply. Since the abolition of the slave trade prices for slaves increased and with emancipation the wages accounted for two thirds of the total costs of productions further crippling profits. Finally, The sugar equalization act passed in 1846 removing the sugar tariffs on non British sugar which eliminated the monopoly of sugar within Britain and now the British West Indies sugar industry had to compete with others such as Brazil, India and Louisiana and with the other factors mentions previously crash the British West Indies sugar economy. Edward Hector
Factors affecting the downfall of the British sugar industry are numerous and as the narrator said it has not yet been revived due to the factors listed above. I personally believe that the downfall could have been avoided if the British had just gone with the evolution of the time instead of relying on ex slaves and immigration laborers , because they are hiring them and paying them money the don’t have so they are losing double and to me that’s just bad business management. Travis Nicholson
Yarek Carnegie The fall of the sugar industry was caused because of numerous factors such as the mass production of sugar over the world thus the sugar industry prices fell and the prices of slaves went up due to more demands of slaves to work and the other territories had more land than the countries in the Caribbean in which sugar was planted and the market was very competitive because of the many prices on the market.
the fall of the sugar industry was caused because of numerous factors such the mass production of sugar over the world thus the sugar industry prices fell and the prices of slaves went up due to more demand of slaves to work and the other territories han more land than the countries in the caribbean in which sugar was planted the market was very competitive because of the many prices on the market. This caused the british sugar industry to fall because they couldn't take care of their estate because they werent making enough money which caused them to take loans and the sugar industry was unstable and the soil was losing the fertility thus they couldnt make any head leading soime etstates in bankruptcy. Thus they faced closing down their estates because they were making enough money and their sugar was of an inferior qaulity compared to those in the market and it gradually got worse until this day the sugar industry has not fully recovered no matter what their efforts were futile
Shania Knight The downfall of the sugar industry was gradual and was as a result of many different factors. There were factors ranging from financial issues and edaphic exhaustion to unbeatable competition. The sugar industry has suffered immensely and, according to historians, has not fully recovered to this day even thought there were desperate attempts to revive it.
Very good
