Norman Rockwell presented by Charlie Harris
The fabulous Charlie Harris tells us why Norman Rockwell was so important to the planting the idea of what a glowing wholesome Christmas would look like. Rockwell an American artist and illustrator decked the covers of The Saturday Evening Post with 323 original covers for over 47 years, as well as several American covers. When he died he left behind 4,000 original pieces of art which still can be found today on many a greeting card. Along with Dickens and Coca Cola would Christmas be the same without him?

      If you’re his daughter Debbie, I was a massive fan of Roy’s. His News Huddlines was one of BBC Radio’s best ever comedy shows and they behaved indecently taking it off without a thank you for his quarter of a century of giving laughter. I utterly loved his Max Miller like cheeky chappieness and he was every bit as good a comedian as Max, better often and more versatile. And a perfect straight actor too. I suspect he was as good a Dad as he was a comedian. I just know he was a lovely man. Best wishes. Paul

    enamel work to die for...

  • @MrAcuta73
    @MrAcuta73 7 років тому

    It does my heart good to see English engravers working on guns. At some point the government decreed weapons as scary and dangerous, unfit for civilized society and the common people. At least not without close government supervision. A beautiful English art began to die. As an American, I still relish the idea of a fine English double or drilling. A 20ga upland gun and a fine Nitro rifle is a dream of mine. Seems the Italians have stolen the market these days with poor knock-offs. Perhaps the art of not just the embellishment, but the crafting of a fine weapon will eventually return to the isles. One can hope.
