What makes this song sound so great is the studio engineer wired Neal's wall of amps in stereo. You can hear him shift in and out of stereo and mono sound. Pretty much by the 2:00 point, the whole wall of probably Marshall stacks are in stereo and they sound like jet engines. Freaking love it.

A true epic by an incredible band. The guitar, the keyboards, the bass, the drums, the vocals, it all compiles together to create a masterpiece. This will always be my favorite journey song. It is a song of rebellion and liberation. It says with flying colors: escape from the chains that bind you, and live life to the fullest. As a guitar player, very few other songs ever resonated with me like this one did. Journey is now and will always be legendary. Neal Schon, Steve Perry, Ross Valory, Johnathan Cain, Steve Smith. All are legends for creating this incredible album and this incredible song. I don't think it's possible for me to revere Journey more than I already do. To all the people who read this, don't let this music die. Play your guitars, your bass, your drums, sing your songs, and keep rock n' roll alive, because that is how we will escape.

Saw Journey in Houston back in 1981. When they came out on stage, they played this song first. Neal Schon is one of the greatest guitar players there is. Great memories.

I saw them live at hampton coliseum in Hampton Virginia. They blew the roof off the building. When you hear them live it's like something you never experienced before. Their music with Steve Perry is iconic. I am a fan for life I listen to them everyday and it's been that way for 42 years.

The Escape album is incredible, every track is a banger! Brain May said that Steve Perrys voice was the most amazing he ever heard apart from Freddie Mercury's. The guitar solo in this song is bizzare the way it resolves but it is perfect.
