    I have added new Courses called Meals for things like Pork Chop Night when we do Pork Chops with rice, applesauce and a veg. I just create a recipe with the ingredients and save it in the Meals Course. This way I can always add that meal into my planner and have my ingredients on the shopping list.

    Is there a way to input approximate cost per 100g or 100ml? It seems so hard to calculate cost per meal

    • @plantoeat
      @plantoeat 4 місяці тому

      Currently the cost section for recipes is based on "amount per serving", so if your serving size if 100g or 100ml that's exactly how it works right now! If you need more help on this send us an email at help@plantoeat.com :)

    My opinion as a chef and consultant...I think the pantry tool is really needed. In my consultancies, where people waste the most money is buying what they already have in the pantry and refrigerator because they are not aware of the minimum quantity they should keep stocked and the ingredients that are essential to maintain Often with recipes in hand, they buy duplicate ingredients. It would be great if they came back with the tool.

    • @plantoeat
      @plantoeat 4 місяці тому

      Hey! Thanks for your comment! Our main issue with the pantry feature was there was no way for your real inventory and your Plan to Eat inventory to remain synchronized. If your Plan to Eat account wasn’t perfectly synchronized with your kitchen, the Pantry Inventory system incorrectly removed items from your list, with the assumption that you already had them, when you actually didn’t have them. This is the scenario that will send you back to the store for a second trip to pick up the things you didn’t get the first time. Instead of automatically removing items from your list, we would rather you remove them manually before going to the store. We believe that getting your shopping list 100% accurate, and double checked by you when you check off items you already have, is much more important than getting an incorrect list 30 seconds faster. We're big fans of "shopping at home" before going to the store to ensure you have what you need on your list!

    I do cook from recipes for dinner but one of my favorite plan to eat hacks is having a "recipe" called "weekly basics" that includes all our stuff for non specific recipes, which is honestly like two thirds of our shopping. The snacks, breakfast, lunch stuff. I like just adding the weekly basics recipe to the calendar and checking to see which we need each week rather than sifting through the staples list which I think is a similar idea. I could see having just a general shopping list as a "recipe" working well for the creative cooks among us too!

    • @plantoeat
      @plantoeat 5 місяців тому

      That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing!! I do a similar thing with my Staples list, but I like that the recipe makes it so you don't accidentally forget something!

    Great video and suggestion. Leads me to a follow-up question. Some of the items I plan on putting in the "On Hand" store are spices. But then if I get low on a spice and want to buy a replacement, won't adding it to the shopping list just make it "disappear" into On Hand again? Any workaround for how to get On Hand items onto the actual shopping list other than editing them for a day? Thanks!

    • @plantoeat
      @plantoeat 6 місяців тому

      Thanks for asking! We don't currently have a workaround to make that seamless. I would recommend double checking your on-hand store before you go shopping, just to be sure there's nothing on there that you need to restock!

      YES! Pinterest can get so cluttered! We find that with most recipes on Pinterest you must navigate to the original website to find the full recipe, as all you see on Pinterest is the image or portions of the recipe. Doing this will allow you to get all of the recipe details and allow you to use our Recipe Clipper to grab the recipe. Let us know if you have questions about that!

    It looks like there's only 1 queue? Would be helpful in a future update to have more than one -- e.g. "tried & true" and "try soon" (though I suppose I could use a tag just as easily?) another use of the Staples List is to capture those items you buy/need but aren't associated with a recipe. Things like toilet paper, paper towels, storage baggies in various sizes, aluminum foil, parchment paper, dish soap, bath soap, etc. etc. etc. Those are truly staples but would be overlooked or manually added each time.

      Also, for Thanksgiving especially, I created a store called "buy ahead" for things that aren't as perishable that I can get days or weeks before the "fresh" items. Whenever I am shopping for anything else, I consult it and put items in my cart and check them off the list.
