I make LEGO things that have functions. My specialty is model engines (engines that are realistic, powered by Power Functions motors), but I'll do pretty much anything.

The WORLD'S SMALLEST Double Action LEGO "Steam" Engine!
I wanted to build a double action LEGO steam engine. But when I did that successfully, I went even further, and made the world's smallest one (unofficially)!

Idea: use a bottle to power the engine with a throttle controled with a servo. Then you can make something like a train
@@Unapersonaconunmicroscopio a bottle will not supply enough air to run this engine, or any I've made for that matter. That's more for pneumatic engines, and I don't have the resources to build one of those
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO oh
This is so cool! Have you ever thought of making a steam train?:)
@@Jonah-h6 I'd love to, but a train, even at this scale, would be really big. And these engines I've built so far don't produce enough torque to really do anything with them. But I *have* been looking into different types of valve gears, so that might be a future project
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO cool , I don't know that much about steam engines but can you put a throttle on one?
@@Jonah-h6 you definitely can! Just as long as you still have enough airflow to let the engine idle
You can make 2x2 circle piston engines i build a vacuum engine with a circle piston
Yes you can! But for more realistic engine models, 2x2 is just too small
i wanna know how to make the big one
I didn't make instructions for that one (it was just a test) but it's super easy to replicate just by carefully studying it. There's really no complicated parts to it
how did u made this 0:56
It's just a collection tod various SNOT bricks and curved slopes. It really depends on how the pistons you're trying to recreate looks
I've been wanting to make a steam engine for a while and your video inspired me heavily, so I got my saw and my superglue, found scrap wood and metal and made one. Took like a week, it works pretty slowly cause my boiler doesn't make much steam, but it works
That's awesome! Congratulations!
never knew about your channel but damn i wish i got here sooner
Valve timing you can see it’s ass
Noice
Wow, that’s awesome😎👏
Can u make a tutorial on this pls
@@justinjonpoon4716 I've got instructions linked in the description
Make a blow powered engine!
A blow? Like, you can blow into with your mouth? I already have. All the steam engines I've made can run like that
Bro, you are just too good!
Love this
I though it was ganna explode 😅
2:57 wow
Can you make engine who can create maybe a 50% energy which one comes to him?
@@gigandbro1159 I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO i mean if you power motor Let's say from 5 volts, then it is possible to make it so that the motor gives off part of this energy in the form of 2.5 volts (volts, for example)
@@gigandbro1159 not with my designs so far. They don't produce enough torque to turn a motor
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO sad(
I would love to see you make a triple expansion engine, like the ones used on the Titanic
it would be soo cool if it was in a lego bike which i understand will be expensive asf
@@1idiotatnight not only expensive, but huge and *insanely* heavy! But I do agree, that would be pretty cool
Set the cranks 90 degrees rather than 180
I know that's the *proper* way to do it, but I just wanted to see how the *improper* way would work
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO I'd be interested to see how well it would perform the proper way :)
@@robertyoung9988 I might test that out with my double action design, but I'm currently working on another project, so it'll be a little while before I get to it
Nice
I love your content, I have all the pieces for it maybe a video on it or some instructions?! Keep it up man thats sick.
I can't really seem to do tutorials right, and I didn't make instructions for this one, but if you study it closely, it's really easy to replicate
Can you get a straw and blow into it? :0
I don't think that would supply enough air to actually run it :/
Steam engines are not all that complicated you just need to steam to turn a gear that’s connected to a shaft wich is connected to a drive wheel that can be used to run mechanical stuff
Yep! This one (as well as the others I've made) we're shockingly simple to build
How to power your car with 100 vapes coming soon
🤣
If they actually did this it'd be so silly engine swapping ur own mocs/other offical lego car sets/although the engine sets would be better for display.
Goated
Day 1 of asking to make a Lego electrical generator build
Electrical generator? So a power functions motor?
W
I gotta say, I'm impressed the 1x1 runs that good. I once tried to make a 1x2 LVE and it didnt even think about running.
@@Dudeface167 I think with LVE's it would be a lot harder, since it takes a much higher pressure to run (at least this one) and vacuums (generally) don't have much pressure
I love how it gets like the same rhythm as a real motor. Technically it is a true motor.
If you incorporate a functional flyball governor you could have it limit the the speed so you don't reach the "explosion" speed
@@nevernether3368 true, but that's pretty much impossible at this scale, however, if it were to be used on a larger engine, say a 4x4 piston (or larger) then a governor would definitely be doable. And it's not really the "speed" of the engine it's the pressure from the air entering the valve chamber. Higher pressure = more speed but also the risk of the valve coming apart
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO makes sense. I hope you can figure out a solid plan for the explosion problem then lol
0: 22 Two-cylinder engines run better when they're 90° apart, or out of phase. Running the drive cranks opposite each other will run a higher risk of jamming, and makes a lot more noise.
@@jamesgroccia644 yeah, I know the whole 90° thing, that's kinda why I was surprised at how well this one ran, being 180°
👏🏻
Tutorial
@@hakonfikse8284 I don't have any instructions for this one in particular, but it's really easy to build if you take some time to study it
Can you make "free"tutorinal
I've never had any success with tutorials. They never come out making sense. But this one is super easy to make just by studying it
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO yes but if you do something wrong it didn't be working 😭
@gigandbro1159 that's where tuning comes in, it's part of building engines!
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO yeah.
Thats soo cool
Nice
Wow
Could you try running one on steam lol
@@Thatonef9a yeah, no. It'd melt in seconds
full working valve gear off a steam locomotive when?
Lol, soon! (Hopefully)
now build 2 towers
woah, woah, woah, hold yer horses there!
2:21 :D
Make the biggest one😂
@@WARNUGGET77-ny7ei 🤣 I ain't got that kind of money!
So cool ❤
Tip: Use a tire on the Flywheel
Actually, making the flywheel even heavier would make it run *worse* than it already is, due to the low amount of torque it produces
@@DeltonAdamsLEGO there you have a big, but EXTRA EXTRA XL BIG point
You need to build a functioning steam tractor now!
@@garagegnome1 that would be awesome, but this engine produces no torque, so it'd kinda be useless and have no functions at all
Yooo this is cool
