On a serious note I started using a new editor and I couldn't work out the fading of the music as well so I share your pain I did in the end work it out by doing a google search. Nice video Andy I had never noticed that Island before despite riding over the bridge so many times.

I'm new to your channel Andy, and rather enjoying your tour videos. Very relaxing, and super interesting as I have always found history my favourite subject since I was a kid. I had always felt nervous about entering Churches (despite being bought up Catholic) , even just to look around and had no idea it was perfectly acceptable to just wander in if they are open so to see your vids it gives me plenty of confidence to do so. Some beautiful parts of the country and would like to say thanks for the stories etc and on behalf of my Dad who was a sailor on a destroyer in WWII thanks for the remembrances.

Some strange letterboxing on this video Andy? I recommend Kdenlive - a free video editor. Quite advanced, but very capable and I know you'll be able to get your head around it with tutorials on UA-cam.

Using the phone is working very well. Thumbs up for Chromebooks, more like a giant phone in some ways but never having to do back ups is a win win for me; Home you manage to film your mystery destination.

This might help you Andy. I bought an old 2011 Apple Airbook for less than 100 Euro and installed ChromiumOS from Google. It works very well and I take it with me on multi week tours - I do all my internet stuff on it, editing and backing up sd cards to the cloud etc...

The hill is May Hill. It's a favourite of mine leaving from Worcester. I sometimes bivi on the top. Some great views.

Thanks for sharing that Andy. It looks like it was an amazing trip. I once drove across America and that gave me an impression of how huge it is. Awesome challenge to do it by bike - and you see so much more of the country and its people that way! You also have to deal with the weather which seems to be "bigger" than ours!

I think you are far from being alone in finding that a Windows video editor is hopelessly slow and incapable when running on a small PC. I gave up and started using a phone app called Fotoplay and was amazed at how quicky I could edit and that it could do all the basic operations I needed for my rather unsophisticated videos: inputting clips with resolutions up to at least 2.7k (it will do 4k, but it slows noticeably on my phone) and output of 2k for UA-cam. The free version is quite adequate for my needs. I had a problem with it once, submitted an error log and they got back to me within 3 days with an acknowledgement that they had found a bug, a simple work-around, and a promise that it would be fixed in the next update - which it was. If your DJI app doesn't meet your needs then it might be worth a look. I'm sure there sre other apps out there as well, but this one works for me! Will you complete your part 2 video using your phone app? I for one hope we will get to see the rest of the trip!

It's amazing how your eye can adapt to the darkness, and how long it takes to adjust again after a bright light. I remember climbing Scafell Pike by moonlight one night (I had arrived at the campsite just before midnight and decided not to go in because I would have woken everyone up with my car, headlight, noise etc). I had no problem finding the route and the views were great. At about 4 am I was passed by 2 runners with head torches. I stepped off the path and they jogged past about 3 feet away, never spoke, looked at me or acknowled my presence! I assume that they were blinded by their own lights - unable to see beyond the circle of light. They must have been blind to the views or the sense of grandeur which I was experiencing, and they were totally dependent on their lights.

Thanks buddy. What video editor do you use? I've just purchased an Acer Chromebook! Windows 10 became virtually unusable in the end for me. My wife went over to Chromebook a few years ago. Even though hers is several years old now it still boots up in under 10 seconds and works as new. Best wishes, Andy

I have a £200 Acer notebook laptop from Argos that I've used to edit videos on very effectively and can recommend ... just in case the phone proves too fiddly to edit on 👍 keep up the good work whatever you use. I really enjoy the videos and I'm looking forward to seeing your new bike when it's fully kitted out with mudguards and front rack for some hot tent camping over the Winter 👍👍

As always, a really nice video! I loved the scenery - it looked like a really nice tour, and I'm waiting to see your camp and the return leg of your trip. I'd be interested to know where and how you mount your camera for your riding shots - I use a handlebar bracket but it's hard to get steady clips, especially uphill, whereas you manage to produce nice smooth footage. While we're confessing things... I rode into the back of a parked car on a long straight road; my nose was ok but the frame and forks got bent, although the guy who eventually stole the bike didn't seem put off by that. Regarding sealant in inner tubes: I have been using slime (the green sealant) in my tubes for about 10 years - sometimes I put it in myself, but it's very tricky to get it into tubes with non-removable Presta valves so I buy ready filled, Slime branded tubes (which are actually fitted with removable Presta valves). Quite often, when replacing a worn tyre, I have found that my tube has 2 or 3 holes that the slime has sealed without me even knowing. Sometimes the tube deflates, but if you put the hole at the bottom when you pump it up the slime will often seal it. It seems to stay sealed better (surprisingly) if you pump the punctured tube up pretty hard. On the negative side, I have found it very hard (but not impossible, fortunately) to get patches to stick to a slime filled tube. Other sealants are available but I personally stick with Slime just because I know it. It also washes off things easily because it's not sticky. Hope that helps!

Hi Andy. So pleased that you are getting used to and liking your Giant Tough Road. I've had different models of Giant bikes for 20 years +. I've always found them to be excellent bikes and well built. At present I ride a Giant Escape 2 which suits me now as I'm now 77 and can only manage about 20 miles on a ride. Ordered one. Now 69, no car. Need a light bike that ticks a lot of boxes for carrying on to trains and over railway bridges. Will probably take off the racks for day rides. Intended use canal paths, forestry tracks and roads. Great video's, thanks Andy.

Glad you are back out touring. Lovely area to ride. Re rear racks. I think you maybe had Blackburn rear rack on your Caribou? I used to use Blackburn on my bikes and they really did suffer from sway when loaded up. Also I had two where welds broke and on one occasion brought a tour to a premature end. I tried to get a replacement under warranty using the supposed Life Time warranty but did I get a replacement? Like hell I did I was rejected so their warranty isn't worth the packaging they print it on. I tried Tubus ok steel and also Surly Nice steel racks which are strong but HEAVY. In the end I found the Madison Summit rear racks aluminium tubing very rigid and strong - no sway even heavily loaded panniers. Also when I bought them they were very cheap £19.00 yes £19!!! I bought a couple more a few years later just in case and they had increased to £24.99, but still a good buy, but now I think they are a lot more expensive. The best rear rack I have ever used. Light as well as very strong, very well made, all the welds are good all the way around the tubing not like Blackburn racks where the welding was like spit and half the tube wasn't even welded!! No sway whatsoever with the Madison Summit rear rack even heavily loaded, substantially above the stated weight limit. For front rack again I've tried lots - Tubus low loaders good but no top shelf, Blackburn side racks complete crap, Surly Nice front rack steel, very strong but HEAVY, but my current and favourite is the Specialised Pizza front rack, aluminium 13mm tubing, very strong rigid and light. Large front top shelf like a butchers or postman's bike for carrying tent, tarp, roll mat, etc and side rails to mount front panniers below if you so wish. They were £44.99 when I bought two but now I think they might have increased in price but can highly recommend them. I still use the Tubus low loaders if I don't need the top shelf but panniers sit lower not so good for clearance if off road riding. www.cyclestore.co.uk/specialized_pizza_front_rack-ID_73270 I know you say you are very pleased with your current Tough Road bike, but the frame looks more hybrid or MTB orientated as the head tube is quite high maybe for fitment of a suspension fork? As a result he fork angle is perhaps more relaxed possibly meaning you need more energy pedalling to keep pushing it along as opposed to a dedicated touring frame which maybe easier with a steep fork angle? But I might be wrong. Have you looked at say a Kona Sutra touring/gravel bike? It has all the rack mounts you need specifically for loaded touring. Just a suggestion. However I am not keen on bar end gear shifters which it has. I like STI shifters with brakes and gears all integrated so you don't have to take your hands off the bars meaning you can steer brake and change gears a lot more easily. Also the rear rack on it doesn't look as good as the Madison Summit so I would have to ditch that. But the rest looks ok. People who have bought and ridden them on tour have all got on well with them. Luckily I have various bikes to choose from to ride the Ridgeway depending on weather and conditions. Also I'd like to ride the Strawberry Trail. Have your ridden this? You have some fantastic cycling and scenery where you are. I'm jealous. Oh the other thing I now rate highly is dynamo lights, especially for commuting or touring. I was always very sceptical, but am now a convert as front dynamo hubs these days are so much better and more reliable than they ever used to be. You don't have to worry about lights although I do have a couple of stand alone Exposure Max D front lights which are VERY bright. I also have Supernova front and rear dynamo lights which are very good on my touring bike and Brompton, beautifully made like Exposure lights from billet aluminium and again bright, very robust. Glad things are now working out for you after the theft. Onwards and upwards. Your videos are very enjoyable Andy. Looking forward to the next one in this series. Glad to hear that so far the new bike is working out. One real plus is the disc brakes; nothing wrong with V brakes but they do wear out rims. It'll be interesting to see how you get on when both racks are on and you're away for a hot camp. Thanks for the video.
