Do we just assume any value to obtain our k7 factor
K7 is a function of h. Remember h should be obtained from standard timber sections table.Then K7 has 3 different formulas based on the value of h you assume from the table.

B.M = WL²/8 or WL/8 And W What about B.M = WL/2 From my understanding of what I have read on the notes. When it's UDL we use B.M = WL²/8. Please help me understand why on the question we did not square the L on BM

When converting Kn to N you raised it to power 4 instead of 3 1000N =1Kn
It's 5W.Since W=10KN,this translates to 10*10^3, which is simply 10^4. I hope it's understandable
The beam was carrying a UDL. So we should have used the maximum moment for a UDL which is wl^2/8
The UDL was converted to point load acting at midspan by multiplying the UDL with the span

If your reference is on the calculation of deflection,that's l^4. If somewhere else,feel free to screenshot it and share it here for clarification

Isn't a UDL have to be kN/m because it is distributed through the span of the beam?
If you have a 2.5KN/m UDL over a 3m span,you can as well as write it as a UDL of 7.5KN covering 3m span. It means it's a total of 7.5KN uniformly distributed over 3m.
@@mwalimudavid Thanks for the clarification, I was also confused for a moment. So that is the reason for substituting the formulae and not using the square because essentially it's like you have converted the udl to a point load? Is that correct?
