They wasted 400m on share buybacks even as the business began to decline and then saw the stock price crater by 75% after programme completed. Absolutely awful management.

Why do you think Burberry is a great company? Just because of the metrics FinChat is showing you? In my opinion, it is a low quality company within the luxury sector. Weak brand, weak external management (since no more founder family led), out of favor produdct, not premium luxury, not very diversified. Investing in the oppsite (like Hermes) which for sure trades at higher multiples would still offer better long term CAGR than investing in companies like Burberry. Just my opinion.

A note on the Mayer spreadsheet: it is just showing the 10-year return, not necessarily his personal return. He hasn't been in many of these names more than a few years. Not even 9 years ago Chris Mayer was doing "value" stuff, buying oil REITs and gold miners and stuff like that. There is footage on UA-cam that confirms this.

Is the plan to use the bonds to purchase equities as they become more fairly valued? I hope so, as you'll likely never outperform with that large of a bond position.

Reality is that his contributions are a blatant copy & paste & customization of mainstream investors. Nothing substantial. I'm moving heavily into industrials that will benefit from the inflation reduction act and onshoring that will take place over the next decade. I am being hammered by this move as industrials are dropping hard across the board so I'm in it for the long term, but its not fun to buy something that you think has a good margin of safety and it drops 20% to a PE of 8! This a company with plenty of cash and no real debt burden and a high ROCE. The only question is how much more heavily do I buy because always no matter how much due diligence you do you always ask yourself when you see a falling price what if I'm wrong?

I'd suggest to take a look at the stock $EVO. Company looks very interesting with strong financials. Would be curious about what you guys think about it.
